Staff team great, helpful, friendly a credit to the Kings Arms. Food good, and the cask ales were also good, this hasn't always been the case in the past, so I was delighted. At the improvements.
As always the room was comfortable and d clean.

We had a lovely break at Clint Lodge. Suzi really went out of her way to make us welcome. It was the first trip with our dog and that was no problem – it is truly dog friendly so we felt very at home there. The breakfast is outstanding with lots of choice and everything home made. We had a meal on the first evening and felt very looked after - everything was home cooked.

The apartment truly was home away from home. Everything was very lovingly prepared and arranged. We loved to have good cooking ware. The location is both quiet and restful yet close to Melrose restaurants, grocery stores, museums, and hikes. Our hosts were thoughtful and professional, and very easy to contact.

This is a lovely old town. The Abbey was under some repair but a fantastic, historic place. The rugby stadium dominates Sadly, didn't get chance to do the Roman stuff;maybe next time. The River Tweed is beautiful and there is good walking around its banks and bridges. The centre has some nice pubs. The Kings Arms was very friendly, the locals inviting me into their conversation. Everyone was so welcoming. The walk into Galashiels is about 50 minutes (ten minutes drive, tops). In Gala, the Great Tapestry of Scotland is a must see. I spent nearly three hours in there and still rushed the last bit.

Melrose is the 'jewel in the crown' of the Scottish Borders, with beautiful surrounding hills (Eildons) and lovely Borders towns nearby like Galashiels and Kelso. Borders folk are also very friendly and helpful. Sir Walter Scott's House at Abbotsford is wonderful and it's worth seeing the William Wallace Statue near Dryburgh.

Melrose is a nice little town with shops, cafés, bars and restaurnts, an interesting museum and a lovely historic site: the ruins of a mediaeval abbey. The scenery is picturesque with the river Tweed running through the town. As I love the outdoors, it was important for me to have a lot of hiking routes starting from the town. There are buses running from there, too, to all directions, so important places, the capital or even the sea are within easy reach.
I visited Dryburgh Abbey on foot and Kelso and Jedburgh by bus. A visit to Abbotsford, the house of Sir Walter Scott was absolutely intriguing. The rolling hills of the Borders are so beautiful that I would go back this instant if I could.

Trimontium Museum in Melrose market place is absolutely first class - about a huge Roman fort a couple of miles outside Melrose. Melrose Abbey was disappointing as most of it is fenced off whilst they carry out building inspections, and it didn't look like this would change any time soon. Dryburgh Abbey about 5 miles away is better. Abbotsford well worth a visit. We also took the train from Tweedbank to Edinburgh for the day which worked very well. Also visited the Great Scottish Tapestry in Galashiels which is an absolute must. Can recommend Provender in Melrose for dinner. Town centre has a range of independent shops and cafes.

Quaint small town.
Quaint small town. The Roman Museum is very good as is the visit to the Abbey, although, unlike last time you could not go into the abbey. I was there to begin the St. Cuthbert Trail walk to Lindisfarne. Sir Walter Scott's nearby home is worth a visit.

We love Melrose and visit often.
We love Melrose and visit often. We love browsing the small shops on the high street and they have a brilliant butcher in Martin Baird. A walk round the town is a delight, past the abbey, Harmony Garden and across the chain bridge to Gattonside - or up the Eildon's if you are feeling energetic. We also love Sir Walter Scott's home, Abbotsford which is a short car journey and the Tapestry of Scotland exhibition in Galashiels.
Getting to Melrose is relatively easy from Edinburgh Waverley station on the Borders light railway to Tweedbank, then a short taxi ride.
Clare and Donald were exceptional hosts, from the very warm welcome with a hot drink and millionaire shortbread to our farewell with Tablet Fudge they were fantastic. The accommodation was first class, very clean, really comfortable and beautiful surroundings. Breakfast was lovely (especially the fruit and yogurt), we also liked Boris the Cat! We highly recommend staying at the Barn at the Coach House when you are near Melrose. The town of Melrose itself is also lovely.
The Kings Arms Hotel is a busy, welcoming and attractive pub/hotel in the pretty town of Melrose. It has lots of character and history, and its sloping floors, beams, etc make it quite quirky. The staff are very welcoming, polite and efficient. Food and drink is very good. Melrose and the surrounding area is great for exploring either by car or hiking on the SUW.
One of the very best accommodations we have ever stayed in over 35 years of holidays. Beautiful location above Melrose. Extensive garden and own sitting area in it. Amazingly well decorated house - flowers, paintings, candles. Attention to detail worthy of a 5 star hotel. Owners are most friendly and considerate. Breakfast was exceptionally good.
To be honest everything. Just 2 minutes walk from the centre of Melrose, 5 minutes walk to the river Tweed. To say the cottage has character would be a gross understatement, the name says it all. If it came up for sale I would buy it in a heartbeat. If you are looking for a romantic break to rekindle or start a relationship this is the place.
This hotel is perfectly situated in the middle of Melrose whilst being a quiet haven. The staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly and the owners are clearly doing a good job in training them. Breakfast was very varied and delicious . We had a very good dinner one night too. No complaints and we would definitely stay again.
No problem parking. Keys were readily accessible. Property has been refurbished and standards are high. Slept well and not troubled by road noise etc. Comfortable lounge, well appointed kitchen and the whole house was nice and warm. Very clean too. Communications with the owner before our holiday were excellent.
The location by the river Tweed and next to the Abbey was excellent. The hotel is grand yet relaxed, with lovely grounds. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was very good. The room was a little small, but very clean, quiet and comfortable. We would highly recommend the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel !
The room was spacious, comfortable and spotless.
The staff were a pleasure and the breakfast was delicious.
I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking to enjoy a luxurious stay in the beautiful Scottish borders.
Parking was easy and the surrounding town is very lovely.
Thank you for a great stay.
Breakfast was excellent, many choices.
The hotel was well maintained with comfortable lounges and well stocked bar.
The room was clean and cosy with kettle tea and coffee.
The hotel staff was very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us.
We definitely recommend the Station Hotel and Restaurant.
Great stay at the G&A. WE only stayed overnight as Melrose was the starting point for a long weekend cycle tour of the Borders. The Hotel was comfortable and staff friendly. Breakfast was excellent. We were able to leave our cars in the car park for the weekend which was most helpful
The breakfast was really nice , the hotel is very dog friendly with a huge area for you dog to get a run around, the hotel room was very large with a very comfortable bed , the toilet and shower was very clean
Location is very good for access on foot to Melrose and by car to Scottish Borders towns. Plenty of space in house. Wifi signal (mobile EE) is very good and stable. Kitchen facilities are very good.
It was clean, well furnished and had everything we could need. Perfect for the Borders Book Festival- we left the car in it's parking place at the property- only a 20 minute walk into Melrose.
location was very good with on street parking.Melrose is a charming place and Kings Arms is a very good spot. Also just nip downstairs for some drink and food, very handy.
