The location for starting our tour of the Highlands was great. The host was very friendly and accommodating and had no problems with us checking in later than expected.
This family-run hotel is located at the heart of the Scottish Highlands. Breathtaking scenery and the Monadhliath and Cairngorm mountain ranges are nearby.

We were very happy with our stay at Clune House, Bryan and Laura were amazing hosts. The rooms very clean and the beds were very comfy. They offered fresh goats milk for the room, which was really delicious. Also the complimentary fudges they offered were some of the best ones we had in Scotland. The breakfast was also great, Laura is a really great cook. Plus having some filter coffee was a plus for us. The location is great if you are driving to Highlands from Edinburgh or if you want to explore the Cairngorms Park.

We had an amazing stay at Glentruim Homestay, the only problem is that we only booked it for two nights, wish we haded for a week. The house is lovely. They have an amazing kitchen and an absolute adorable dog!
The breakfast is simple but tasty with muffin bread ( it's not sweet ). Peaceful location, we highly recommend it!

Newtonmore is a small village with little to offer in the way of shops, etc. The speed limit in towne center is much too fast to afford safe pedestrian crossing of Main Street and the thru traffic is heavy for such a small town. The crown jewel of Newtonmore by far is the Balavil Hotel; the accommodations are warm and comfortable, the staff is top notch and the food is superb.

Well appointed hotel complex.
Well appointed hotel complex. Our room was in the Annexe and very well furnished for short stay visitors. Very clean and fresh. Garden and surrounding areas well maintained and seating areas provided should the weather be favourable.
We opted to eat in the hotel for Dinner and were not disappointed. Service was first class and food standards were excellent.
Areas arund Newtonmore very accessible from the A9 and east through Kincraig to Aviemore was pictuesque. Lots to see and do, very vibrant area within 15 mile radius.
Avoid coming through Perth as road Duelling on A9 is causing significant delays. approach from the south easier through Crieff and join A9 at Dunkeld- free run from there.

Newtonmore is an excellent base for a stay in the highlands.
Newtonmore is an excellent base for a stay in the highlands. Without the business of Aviemore easy access to the Highland Wildlife Park and Highland Folk Museum and if you feel the need for something to do that all ages can take part in there's the Wildcat Walking Tour. A selection of eating places but if fast food is your thing maybe not for you.

Lovely village to stay in for touring this area of Scotland.
Lovely village to stay in for touring this area of Scotland. Golf course and beautiful river side walks. Easy access to A9 for travelling further afield. The Glen Pub at the edge of the village is a must - very friendly welcome and service and stunning food. Co-op in the village for those needing groceries etc. on a self-catering holiday. If you stay in this area I recommend a visit to a fantastic coffee shop in Kincraig called The Post Office Cafe Gallery.

Village is very central and gives easy access to Cairngorms without the busy feel of Aviemore. Easy to reach Fort William and access the west coast and also to reach Inverness and further north beyond. Wonderful walking locally in Glen Banchor and along the river Spey, Glen Feshie and Loch Insh. Golf at Newtonmore and three miles away at Kingussie. Very interesting Highland Folklore museum which deserves a whole day and is great for children. More amenities in Aviemore but worth staying in Newtonmore for the peace and quiet.
Would recommend the Glen Hotel for dinner and Antlers cafe for snacks.
Great, cozy and comfortable accommodation. Family run business with great Highlands hospitality. The guest house is from 19th centuries but it was renovated and tastefully decorated. The breakfast was fabulous, tasty with a high end menu and generous serves. Offering a full Scottish breakfast was an absolute bonus. It was amazing to be able to try such a cultural food in country town.
Glen Hotel 100m away offers gourmet meals at pub prices.
We were 2 families and we all loved our stay. Wish we could score more.
We felt very comfortable. The cottage was very lovingly furnished, our dog was allowed to come along. The property has a fence, so our dog could run around the house freely. Rod and Dianne were always available for us, we contacted them when we had questions about the area, excursions or sights. We got great tips for trips. Newtonmore is centrally located. Excursions are easily possible from there. If we go to Scotland again we would rent a cottage from Rod and Dianne again.
We had a great stay at Braeriach Hotel! My partner and I stayed there for two nights to visit the Highland Wildlife Park and surrounding areas. The hotel is perfectly situated, the room was spotless and the bathrooms (albeit a little cold) were very clean despite being shared bathrooms. We loved the big rain shower which, once you got the temperature right, was a dream after a long day of exploring.
We didn't have breakfast so cannot comment, but we'd definitely stay again!
Everything written in current reviews is spot on: absolutely immaculate property; owner is an actual chef and his breakfasts are outstanding; the attention to detail in every aspect of the property are what you expect for a room costing 50-100% more; great activity and restaurant guidance; and the hosts are welcoming and gracious. My advice, quit reading reviews and just book this property, it was a high point of our entire Scotland stay.
Location and views were amazing. Accommodation was very clean, beds comfortable. Kids loved the farm animals. Host was friendly and welcoming. Lovely little place and would return in a heartbeat. We'd usually stay in a hotel so it was a little out our comfort zone but so glad we did it. Also the village has a 'Wild cat trail' which the kids loved. Would highly recommend to others :-)
Comfortable old hotel, location was perfect for us travelling between Inverness and Edinburgh, the pool was a bonus with pool towels provided, food was really tasty, staff couldn't do enough for us and we were well looked after, especially leading up to Christmas. The pub had darts and pool table which we enjoyed on a rainy day when we couldn't do the Wildcat trail.
Easy to find, beautifully furnished and decorated, with fittings of a high standard. Excellent shower and wi-fi. The hosts go to a great deal of trouble to give the guests a special experience, especially with breakfast and the complimentary tea & cake. Newtonmore is a pleasant village with a convenient Co-op store and good pub (the Glen Hotel).
Well-budgeted and -situated option for a Cairngorms trip. Staff are friendly, there's plenty of space, the rooms are well-equipped and cosy, and the hotel is close to a bunch of solid nearby attractions like the Highland Folk Museum or the Wildlife safari. The fact that it was dog friendly was also a big bonus.
The hotel was located right in the city with reachability to main points, cafes, restaurants. It is located in the Cairngorns National park which means you're close to a lot of attractions. It is clean and tidy while being also small and cozy. We loved our beds and we had a very good nice sleep.
Renovated room even though the hotel is pretty old. The staff was very kind, waiting for us at check in and helping us find our way. I had no breakfast so cannot tell how good it would be. The bath shower was good. The mattress was also good so we slept well. I would stay again.
The B&B is owned by two wonderful people, Lynda and Eric! their home is very inviting and homey. The breakfast was excellent. Our room was big and the bed super comfortable. The location right outside Newtonmore is great! We will most definitely be back!!
Everything was fantastic, the accommodation, the food, the location, and especially the hosts! I wished we had booked a stay for more than one night, as it was a perfect location to use as a base for hiking the Cairngorms.
Breakfast was excellent - good choice available very nicely cooked. Great coffee. Easy to find and well located in Cairngorms. Room comfortable. Very short walk to the Balavil Hotel for supper. Nice welcome tea and cake.
The location is very good to walk into Newtonmore. The whole property was spotless. The staff were very friendly & the breakfast was superb. We have recommended this property to friends & family.
The staff were really friendly! Also a super dog friendly place. It was really nice to have an area in the dining room that was dog friendly. Comfy beds. Great value for money.
Moira was the most amazing host. Breakfast was superb and best coffee so far in Scotland. The bath was the best for soaking after a long hike up Ben MacDui.
