Promar - Eco Beach & Spa Hotel, hotel in Maceira

Featuring a large seaside terrace and free WiFi, Promar - Eco Beach & Spa Hotel is an award-winning ecological hotel in Porto Novo.

Our room had an amazing view of the beach. It was clean and spacious. Staff were mostly very nice, only one woman at the reception did not smile. We ate at the restaurant which was a bit expensive but good food! The breakfast was really good with lots of options. Free parking was great. If you have an e-car, they apparently have a charger, but availability varies. The spa was very nice, with a big pool, a hot tub and different saunas. They apparently write it on the confirmation email, but you have to wear a bathing cap in the spa and rent towels (not allowed to bring the one from the room). Was approx. 10€ (for the purchase of the cap and rental of towel).

Porto Monte, hotel in Maceira

Offering rooms with balconies, Porto Monte is in a traditional Portuguese building with garden. The outdoor pool is by a covered terrace and the games room has a pool table and table tennis.

The hosts are the best family in Portugal. The place is clean and quaint with large peaceful spaces. I was skeptical about staying off the beach on vacation but Porto Monte is the best kept secret. Definitely staying here again.

Owner is very friendly and always ready to help out and make your stay comfy! Pretty close to the beach and magnificent nature just a mile away. Recommend a walk thru the wild nature and ancient termas towards the beach of Porta Nova. Have a beer or 2 and lunch with a seaview +++

Hotel Dom Lourenco, hotel in Maceira

Offering a home-like atmosphere and excellent dining, Hotel Restaurante Dom Lourenço features rooms and apartments with an elegant décor.

Our third time staying here, and as always the owners were welcoming, breakfast is great, the room quiet and comfortable with a good shower and the location is perfect for walking to the beach area. The restaurant at the hotel is excellent, one of the best for traditional Portugese cuisine in the area.

We should have hired a car in Lisbon and drive to Maceira.

We should have hired a car in Lisbon and drive to Maceira. We took the Ree Exprossos bus and were surprised where they dropped us. We had to get a taxi from the bus drop off to the guest house and it was very expensive because it came from so far away. We had anticipated a bust station and taxi rank, but not so. The town is very quiet but the surrounding area is beautiful and great if you like walking. Nice beaches but not much public transport.

Maceira is right by the oceanside so, it's a great place to relax for a couple of days. Be aware that this part of the country is usually cloudy during the mornings and may not be great for sunbathing. Bring a jacket. If you're used to eating at any time you want, remember that this is a small town and most restaurants and cafés have very tight schedules and won't serve you it's close to 10PM. Went to the mall in Torres Vedras which was supposed to be open until 11PM and even there, most places wouldn't serve me because it was nearly closing time. Other than that, enjoy the scenery and explore as much nature as you can.
