The general ambience and atmosphere. The food was good and the bar had a good choice of beers. The person who checked me in was helpful in that he locked my bike securely in the cellar.

Very nice room, with an updated bath. Had everything we needed, and the location was great for wandering around town. The restaurant/bar was great, with good food & drinks.
This former church has been tastefully converted, enabling retention of the original features. Auld Kirk Hotel is located in the heart of picturesque Royal Deeside.

A wonderful and cozy place to stay in Balleter. The host was friendly and briefed us on the do's n don't while staying there. The room was neat and clean. We appreciated very much the welcome pack of cookies and the taste of local whiskey. Breakfast was fantastic and cooked as requested from the menu. A good variety! Checking in and out was easy at the reception. A close walk to the town center.

Braemar is in Royal Deeside.
Braemar is in Royal Deeside. It is a small, picturesque village loved by walkers and tourists alike. Rightly proud of its history and royal connections.. it has lots to offer. It is the gateway to the Cairngorms, quaint local gift shops and lovely restaurants and bars. You can choose then to take the scenic route over the hills to Perth via Glenshee ( take a tour of the local gin distillery at Persie ) or take the coast road via Ballater, Aboyne and Banchory to the city of Aberdeen. We certainly enjoyed our visit and plan to return next year.

Best food and pub for me was Moorfield House Hotel. A little tucked away but worth the effort.
Loads of walking from local strolls to mammoth Munro hikes.
The countryside and wildlife is fantastic.

Hostel squirrels and cleanliness were great.
Hostel squirrels and cleanliness were great. Fife Arms is amazing to go to for food or drinks. I rode my horse in the Mar Estate which was fabulous. The Braemar Gallery is great and have a concert in house once a month. Everything in walking distance from the hostel
Slight lack of atmosphere in the evening in the hostel
Great central location in Braemar. Lovely decor inside cottage with large spaces to relax in. The kitchen was huge and had an adjoining dining area. Showers were always hot and powerful. The garden was enclosed which would be good in the summer. Our beds were comfortable and the cottage was spotless. Great selection of books if you want to cosy up next to the fire.
Honestly…as B&Bs go, they don’t get much better. Everything about the place was so well thought out that every expectation was met. From the warm welcome, to the cleanliness of the room and comfiness of the bed to the little personal touches and the wonderful breakfast. It’s right in the centre of Braemar too! Would definitely return.
Braemar is a beautiful village with a few restaurants and shops. The breakfast at the Cranford was really good - home-cooked and delicious. The bedrooms were immaculately clean and very comfy and cosy. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. we liked getting real milk for teas and coffees in our room.
Couldn't ask for a better stay - great hosts and location. The cabin was immaculate and the hotel itself was a lovely atmosphere and felt like a home from home. We had breakfast in the hotel a few times and it was delicious. Thank you to Charlie and Malcolm for making us feel so welcome!
The location was ideal, just on the outstirts of Braemar, very quiet but easy walking distance of town centre.
The facilities were good, comfortable and very clean.
The breakfast was one of the best I've ever had, perfect for the morning after watching England beat Germany.
Location was superb - right in the middle of Braemar and all its amenities. We didn't have to get in the car again for 2 days as there were so many wonderful places to explore on foot and on 2 wheels. Stunning scenery and so much history.
friendly welcoming host, catered to my fiancé and myself very well. surroundings were clean and tidy. location was walking distance to nearby walks and the town centre. will definitely stay again when we next travel to Braemar
Everything was great, owner and his son run this hotel on their own and they really are great and generous people! All the other stuff is great as well and are there for you the whole stay. Just perfect, really!
Sadly 24 hours after we left, this lovey hotel burned to the ground.
Further comments would be pointless.
Best wishes and good luck to the owner Malcom and his family.
