We loved this place and felt very much at home there. It was like we had the place to ourselves in terms of being able to use all the facilities as we pleased but also knowing that they were there to help us with anything we needed. We were incredibly lucky with the weather and were able to use the carts, the zip line, and the archery etc. I would consider coming back in the summer to use the pool! Also breakfast was great and the dining room was super cosy. In our accommodation we appreciated having cable TV, especially when travelling with kids! I'm not sure if this is the case in all the rooms, though. It was a great experience overall and definitely set a standard for the kind of holiday we would like to have going forward.

Encosta do Sobreiro is easily and by far one of the best places I've ever stayed, if not the very best. The first sign of an exceptional stay came on the day before our arrival. Ms. Luisa called me to ask if we had any special request that she could help with.
On the day of our stay, due to unplanned issues we arrived later than we have planned. Though I recognize this is inconvenient and should be avoided by the guests, Ms Luisa and Mr. Hugo did not complain even once. Quite the opposite. Mr. Hugo received us with a big smile! The attention to details continued: he used a disposable protector for his shoes before entering the house where we were staying.
The house is fantastic. There are TVs in both rooms and a big TV in the living room. The bathroom was exceptionally clean and the towels were soft and smelled really good. And, by the way, the marble floor gave it a refined look. Water pressure was fantastic even for the hot temperature.
In the Kitchen you have everything you possibly need for a short and comfortable stay: pans, italian moka coffee maker, nespresso machine, microwave, oven and stove.
The beds were comfortable and cozy. In the outside there are tables and chairs where I could sit for a while to sip my coffee and simply relax.
The house has a fireplace but also central heater.
The breakfast was great with cheese, ham, jams, milk, cereal, honey and fresh bread being delivered in the morning.
I will certainly return for a longer stay to enjoy the region, unwind and relax.
Ms Luisa and Mr Hugo, my family and I thank you very much for a delightful stay!

Linhares was just the type of old village we wanted to experience. There is one real restaurant, the Cava do Loba. It rates a 10 with gourmet food, excellently prepared, and sold at moderate prices. Two people could have main courses, maybe a starter, 3 total glasses of wine, and be under 60 Euros. If we lived within 150 km of Linhares we would be regular patrons.

The location is great and the hotel is very impressive at first glance.
All room doors have gaps and thus noise carries easily between the rooms.
No separate shower and no option to hang the shower head.
WiFi is very poor.
Breakfast consisted of only basic items, no fresh bread, juice or meats and specifically only horrible instant coffee.
The hotel consists of two former houses, connected by a corridor. The architect made a superb job the conversion, blending the old and the new. The grounds were lovely, and well maintained. The swimming pool area was great for relaxing.
Juliana was particularly pleasant and informative, when serving us drinks and snacks, in the bar/lounge area.
The hotel was in a lovely old building in a beautiful village in the Beira. I imagine the views are fabulous when it's not raining! The room was very nicely furnished and decorated and warm. There was a lovely garden and in better weather, the pool looked good too. Breakfast was good with a lavish portion of freshly scrambled eggs!
We chose this place quite randomly and didn't have any expectations. When we arrived, we were stunned with the room and the service we got. The hotel is located in a little fairytale village. The room was huge and the views from the windows were spectacular. Plenty of places around for hiking and other activities.
Incredible colonial hotel in a beautiful medieval mountain village. Extremely comfortable, super clean, excellent buffet breakfast with coffee including cappuccino. Our 4th floor room offered stupendous views of the valley. Lots of pillows & hot water.
Breakfast was well above average for hotels in Portugal. The location and aspect was one of the best features. I am sorry we could not stay longer. Given the quality, I though the value was quite good.
Having clicked the wrong year on our booking the hotel were not expecting us. Despite this they booked us into a superior room at the same price and could not have been nicer.
The grounds of the hotel were nice and the village, although remote was beautiful and quaint. The room had direct access to the garden and was spotless.
