The room is very comfortable and quiet with a good quality bed but not enough light for reading at night. Ventilation in the bathroom was old-fashioned but surprisingly the room didn't smell bad. Coffee and juice were available in the lobby all day. There is a city bus stop towards downtown but they only accept cash or passes. Driver didn't make us pay through since we had neither.

You can’t beat the location if you need a stop just off the 401. Easy off, easy on. The hotel is basic but certainly met all my needs. Check in was quick and pleasant. My room overlooked the parking lot but was very quiet. The bed was super supportive.

Great location and rooms were clean and comfortable.
We enjoyed the waterfront parks and the Gord Downie pier.
We enjoyed the waterfront parks and the Gord Downie pier. Also there was some good outlet shopping and mall shopping. Since it was only late April, a number of attractions were not open yet. Also, most places were dog friendly and staff came out to say “bring your dog in”. But we would suggest signage indicating dog friendly or not. ( A simple sign on each entrance to malls, for example.). We had our own car, so easy to get around, and no problem to find parking.

Surprisingly there were a lot of very good and high end restaurants. I was not expecting it during April. The 1000 island cruise was ok but not really something that you “must do” or experience. Recommended you take the ferry to Wolf Island (free) just for the ride (stay on and don’t get off at Wolf Island). The walking track along the river was a highlight. The trolly car was also worthwhile. You get to see a lot of the old buildings on the tour. Kingston history is fascinating. You can also go and walk around the University as well.

Kingston carries itself with the poise of a bigger city while remaining relatively small. Lots of Gothic Revival architecture for the art nerds (I include myself on that list) and a friendly atmosphere made Kingston a fun visit. Also some really good bars and restaurants for a town of its size. A worthwhile visit if traveling between Montreal, Toronto, or Ottawa.

There are great walking trails along the waterfront and the downtown area was less than 10 minute walking distance and felt safe in the evening. The shops were varied and there were plenty of restaurants, bars and pubs to choose from.

It is a very walkabout city. Waterfront trail is a lovely place to stroll. Plenty of restaurants and shops in the downtown core. Lovely architecture in the old residential section. A few historical sites to visit, although open only seasonally.
Worth a visit

The city of Kingston is so littered with homeless peoples...
The city of Kingston is so littered with homeless peoples garbage everywhere spray paint on almost every corner and a general public are smoking so much carfentanol and enphetameins and if that isnt enough Kingston possessed no family values from city council on down and the cheif of police is responsible for nothing but a 460 million dollar budget and the university students acue one million in fines annually for their wild parties
I was traveling with teenagers and my puppy. We were spending some time downtown enjoying the city, this hotel was located a bit out of the city off the highway in a quiet area.
It was pet friendly and brand new. The staff were very welcoming and super friendly. I was a bit nervous bringing my 15 month old somewhat anxious dog with me but everything worked out great! The staff made sure we were welcomed and comfortable!! The lobby as well as the grounds provided lots of green space to get outside and sit.
We had a wonderful experience!
We loved the Inn; great location in downtown Kingston, the room was well-appointed with excellent lighting, comfortable furniture and a modern washroom - generally a very welcoming environment. Extra touches including homebred snacks to greet us at check in time, a box of chocolates and small bottle if champagne in our mini-fridge and a text email greeting from the hosts to confirm that everything met our expectations were welcome and appreciated. Breakfast the next morning was over the top delicious. We will be back.
I had booked an accessible room for my stay. The room was very spacious, including the bathroom. The room was very accessible in all areas. My friend and I previously stayed at a hotel that claimed to be accessible by just throwing a komode over the toilet. This room was fully accessible beyond what we experienced at a different hotel in the past. We only spent one night after attending a concert in the city. But we are planning to come back in the future when we come to Kingston.
Exactly what I wanted and expected. Simple, clean, great location, and the staff were polite, friendly, and accommodating. Everywhere I wanted to go was easy walking distance from the hotel. My window overlooked the harbor and Wolfe Island which was an added bonus! Honestly have nothing bad to say about the hotel and would recommend to anyone that is visiting charming Kingston. I traveled in offseason (April) but I bet the swimming pool is a nice touch in the summer.
We booked at short notice for one night and we were happy to find a fridge, TV, aircon, and coffee making equipment in our clean room. We could open a small window but chose to close it so we couldn't hear traffic noise and the occasional train noise. The bed was comfortable. It's only a 10 minute drive along Princess St to downtown Kingston and the lake from the hotel. Recommended!
Nice and quiet location in a residential area. An easy 7 minute drive to downtown Kingston. Everything you need is in this cozy little apartment. There are even some chairs to sit outside and relax. No cable but plenty of Netflix. We brought our food to cook and the little apartment served us well. Next time we visit Kingston, we would book this again for sure!
Excellent location; downtown and the harbour are within walking distance. The building is a beautiful old-style villa with lots of character. The young lady at the reception was very friendly. As the kitchen was under renovation, we received a boxed breakfast in the morning. This breakfast was delicious and of high quality. I would stay in this hotel again.
We really enjoy the friendliness of the staff that made everything possible to make us happy.
The size of room was really great for the area.
The price-quality was exceptional, with a very short distance to Kingston center.
Nice to know: the hotel has a small swimming pool and a nice fitness area.
New-ish hotel, very comfortable, family-friendly, great value and in a great area. If you're looking for something within walking distance of downtown, this might not be for you, but it is a very quick drive/taxi (5 mins) to downtown area.
The hotel was new so the facilities and rooms were nice and clean and up to our standards. We really appreciated the continental breakfast included in the price of the stay. We would stay again if ever in the Kingston area.
We enjoyed the room and good beds . The breakfast menu was quite expansive and the food fresh. Really good coffee. Dining area was spotless ..
Easy access from Hwy 2 and only 10 minutes from downtown Kingston.
This was my second time staying at this hotel. The staff was lovely! Both check-in and check-out were quick and efficient.
The room was spacious and clean.
very comfortable and close enough to downtown
Stephanie was amazing.
Whole experience great. We usually stay at a particular high end hotel on the waterfront during our frequent trips to Kingston. Donald Gordon Hotel will now be our go to.
Old style hotel in Kingston not so far from the city center.
Fireplace in the room was super appreciated and created a superbe atmosphere.
Staff kind and friendly.
Good complimentary breakfast
Breakfast servers were genuine and attentive. Better than expected service for a buffet meal. Hotel was in a great location to be able to experience downtown Kingston.
The hotel was right at the water’s edge, and a perfect location in downtown Kingston. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms. Comfortable beds, and great views.
