Beautiful farmhouse with stunning gardens. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was great. But the best thing for me was the emphasis made of George Orwell’s experiences in Eastbourne.

Poor building design so that the room was overly warm with little natural ventilation; that combined with an old saggy foam-topped mattress all led to a night of barely any sleep.

The beach although it is a stone beach would recommend taking seats to sit on. Plenty if places to buy cold drinks and ice creams. There seemed to be a lot of road closures and diversions which took you away from the beach front. Not a lot to do with children.

I visit Eastbourne 2 or 3 times a year, normally for the International Tennis Championships and other Tennis events and sometimes for work. Eastbourne has some great restaurants. Favourites of mine are Bistrot Pierre which has fantastic views overlooking the sea and if timed right amazing sun sets can be viewed from here! Good food and drink in a friendly, welcoming environment. Others I like include Little Italy, Pomodoro E Mozzarella, Favaloso. On a day off I took the red bus trip (hop on/off) brilliant way to see Eastbourne. I got off every stop to the final destination Beachy Head. The following day I drove with a friend to East Dean where we had a nice lunch in the Tiger Inn and a visit to the little church. Would not have known about this place had I not done the bus trip! I also went to a show at the Congress Theatre! Thoroughly enjoyed!

To visit when there is the AIR Show on or Classic Car Event etc would have been better for us. To h poolave been advised of Shows being staged at the time. The Hotel swimming pool was pleasant but there were no mattresses visible to place on the hard sun beds. Maybe the occasional visit by a staff member would have gone a long way.

    - Free onsite parking - but on a first come, first serve basis - Staff were friendly and accommodating - from the porter to reception - Inviting (but deceptive) common areas - entry way, restaurant, afternoon tea area, pool area were all stunning but left much to de desired as the remainder of the property is neglected and dated - Good a la carte breakfast (although options are limited) - Good location - right opposite Eastbourne seafront - Turn down service which is standard at 5 star hotels

Great village feel-like location in suburb of Eastbourne with 10 minutes easy car access to town centre and seafront. Excellent for nearby surrounding countryside walking and centrally good for exploration of sights and towns further afield across south downs. Nice cosy cottage base to come back to with two pubs and restaurant close by. Excellent cottage TV services for evenings in. Log burner a plus for comfort. Kitchen facilities very good. Nice clean modern bathroom.

Good breakfast, welcoming/professional staff and a fascinating building. Great location. Free parking, which is rare for any seafront hotel but especially in Eastbourne and the surrounding areas. Room basic but clean, comfortable and everything worked. Entertainment expected standard for price but maybe the bingo should happen first, not in the middle.

The hotel is easy to find and the location right on the seafront and near the pier and town centre is excellent. The room was clean and a good size. The hotel allows dogs for a small surcharge. Breakfast was decent and included the usual suspects, bacon, sausage, beans etc and cold items like cereal and yoghurt.
