Hull has a lot going for it. We were there for a show at the refurbished New Theatre, and it is well represented with regard to the Arts and Museums. The Marina area is a big draw normally, but massive, long term road reconstruction on the A63 right along the waterfront and towards the ferry terminal, makes it very difficult to access. The train Station is right opposite Ferensway in the centre of Hull, and is an excellent way to arrive for the foreseeable future!

Hull has changed so much since my last visit and I genuinely adored my trip. The shops, bars, restaurants and sights were top notch. The marina is beautiful, the range of independent places to eat drink and shop is wonderful. The arcade and market all add to a great vibe and I can’t wait to visit again!

Never knew how much there is to do here!
Never knew how much there is to do here! We had a lovely walk into town and popped into a few of the older pubs (highly recommend Minerva, Ye Olde Black Boy and Fretwells). Was much busier than expected on Saturday afternoon! Then visited the museum quarter the next day and loved it. Will be returning to do some of the trails! Locals friendly, especially en route to and at the football ground. Only thing that could have made it better was if Hull had let us have all 3 points!

Marina area & museums excellent.
Marina area & museums excellent. Old town quite tatty & not much to see. Recommend Hull as a base with 1 day to walk around + 1 museum + 1 more for the Deep & another museum. Highly recommend beautiful Beverley for a visit

I used to study there sometime in the last century.
I used to study there sometime in the last century. It is a quirky and interesting city, not beautiful like Edinburgh or Venice but that doesn't mean there isn't a lot of beauty to be found if you take a close look.
Hull gets slagged off by people who have never been there, which is very unfair. It has a lot of history and nice architecture. And compared to most other major cities it's cheap as chips (and the chips are very good!)
Arrive there via the magnificent Humber Bridge. Visit the Ferens Art Gallery. Take in a show at Hull Truck, The New Theatre or the World Class Don Roy Theatre at the university campus. And enjoy the revitalised harbour and Old Town

Wife is from Hull so we visit quite a bit, it's maybe lost some of it's character and vibes, as other places but still love visiting,.lots of new infrastructure going on, which should make a difference, the Hull people are very friendly as and have been since my first visit 25 years ago
This is a nice little hotel which is about 20 minutes by public transport from the centre. We were heading to the Bonus Arena for a gig, I'd recommend prearranging a taxi or using the bus stop across the road (ensure you work this out and give yourself plenty of time), this is no fault of the hotel just advice. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were around what you'd expect for the price.
The location, the price, around £65 for a night, the staff, (VERY NICE!) ESPECIALLY when we asked if we could store are suit cases a lil longer behind closed doors when we checked out.
This is now my second visit at Holiday Inn at Hull City Centre. And this is definitely not the last time. My favorite hotel till now. We see you again. Greetings from The Netherlands ~ Wilco Verwiel.
Lovely hotel within easy walking distance of Hull City Centre. Especially convenient for the theatre too. Service was impeccable, rooms big and clean. Breakfast was filling and parking convenient (make sure to book in first to get the parking perrmit).
Very friendly staff. In spite of roadworks close by, the location was very convenient. The diversion signage was very clear and we easily found our way back from divers directions. We would recommend this hotel with enthusiasm.
Everything..secure apartment with gated parking…modern stylish well equipped place with everything you expect plus lots more. Great location near marina, pubs, bars, eateries and centre of Hull just 10 mins walk.
Good sized room. Clean & comfortable. Staff helpful & friendly. Good location close to main shopping area. Discounted car park easily accessible to hotel. Well stocked buffet breakfast. Good shower, good wi-fi.
Property was excellent and had a VERY safe feeling.
Secure car park is a massive plus as many major hotels in Hull don’t have any.
12 min walk to city centre £5 taxi from the station.
This place is a gem.
The property was in a great location, a few minutes walk from the marina & hull city centre.
The apartment was cleaned to a high standard and had everything you would need in a self catering accommodation.
Excellent location, hindered by the roadworks but footbridge ideally placed with the city centre, marina and amenities all within 5 - 10mins walking distance.
Hotel, dated but emphasis on cleanliness ok
It's a good, cheap, clean hotel close to the city centre. They have shared kitchen facilities so you can cook and free parking. Amy the manager was quite happy to do a deal for a long term stay.
The hotel was clean and comfortable. I had barely any interaction with staff so can't really comment on the service.. I would stay again if ever I happen to visit the area again.
Booking was cancelled by The Royal before the visit so had to book into another hotel, hence the low rating. I'm sure it would have been good if it wasn't cancelled.
