The hotel is extremely well located, literally just around the corner from the station, with very quiet rooms (we never heard any noise from the station). The city center is close by, around 20 minutes walk. There are some grocery stores and places to eat nearby too. Everything was clean and just like in the photos.

We have stayed at the Ashley and the parent hotel, Arundel House, many times over the past 20 years.
The Ashley is well located for our requirements with a good car park. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. As others have noted, the building exterior is looking rather tired. Inside is much better. We try to stay in the same room each visit, but have also used three other rooms. All were clean and comfortable, but the hotel suffers from a silly lack of routine maintenance. In each room we have used, there were windows that do not open because they are stuck, or have broken catches or missing sashcords. Some of these faults I had reported many years ago, but they still exist. The breakfast rooms have now been refurbished to a very good standard. Breakfast there is always good.

Open-plan and open-minded, Cambridge is best known for universities dating to the 13th century. King’s College is the most popular, and its chapel choir is internationally famous. Although accessed from cobbled King’s Parade, it is best viewed from a punt on The Backs, the part of the River Cam behind.
Taking a flat bottomed punt in Cambridge is an institution and gives great views of Queen’s College Mathematical Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs at St John’s College. Upstream is Jesus Green, site of an outdoor pool and a fantastic beer festival. Next to this is Midsummer Common, a park home to the annual Strawberry Fair (and the occasional cow). Opposite are the college boathouses - get up early to see the rowers in action!
Cows also roam the Mill Pond meadow, where the river leads south to Grantchester, a quaint village with a lovely cafe. Places to eat in Cambridge include riverside restaurants and typical English pubs like The Eagle, drinking hole of DNA founders Watson & Crick.
Cambridge shopping options include a daily market (in Market Square), the Grafton Centre and the exclusive Grand Arcade, the latest addition. The Scott Polar Museum and free Fitzwilliam Museum are 2 of many fantastic Cambridge museums.
Stansted Airport is connected by train to the city’s accommodations choices on Booking.com.

We loved Cambridge and the beautiful architecture and streets. We visited the David Attenburgh museum of zoology, so much to see and so interesting. Parked our car in the Grand Arcade which leads to the large shopping mall.
Plenty of places to eat around the old streets. It was raining so we didn’t go far on foot. Well worth a visit!

Beautiful area with amazing buildings!
Beautiful area with amazing buildings! Easy to walk everywhere. Lots of cafes to find something to eat, and this includes the market. Many green areas. Perhaps if a taxi is required, pre book it as mine did not arrive. Lots of lovely shops if you wish to go shopping, including ice cream shops.
Worth going on a punt tour as you learn so much and all questions are answered with detail. You get to see the other view of the colleges and various bridges that you cannot see due to colleges being closed to visitors as students are studying.

Lunch in Fitzbillies was amazing, again lovely staff and the food was the best I’ve had in a while.
Books shops and art galleries a plenty which meant we run out of time before seeing the 39 steps at the arts theatre. A brilliant day.

Not a good idea to go mid-may as most colleges are closed to visitors with "keep out" signs and guards to enforce it, and that just adds to how posh the place looks and feels. The Scott polar research exhibit was the absolute highlight of my stay though
Our superior room was beautifully decorated and had some little extra touches that made it quite special. For example, the lovely proper teapot and cups and saucers ... very welcoming after a day out walking around Cambridge. Also the accent vases and cushions, etc. .... it felt like we were staying in a fine home rather than a hotel with items secured to tables and walls. The weekend breakfast buffet was one of the best we have ever had, while the regular breakfast table service on the Monday was also very excellent.
Beautiful modern hotel, the interior is really nice, the bed is huge and comfy.
The staff and housekeeping was really kind and helpfull, thank you!
The public transport is amazing and right in front of the hotel, so you can visit Cambridge without the 40 minute walk to the city centre.
The hotel is really quiet, there wasn’t any street noise or anything else.
There is a big tv that you can connect really easy to your phone, so you can cast your favourite show.
We would like to stay here again!
The hotel is right next to the Station which is very nice if you arrive late at night. It is a fair but very do-able walk if one is visiting the University, with lots of lovely bakeries and coffee shops along the way. The room was very nice and clean. The decor is minimalist but the design is very clever. They happily stored our luggage for us after we had checked out, until we left on the train later in the day.
I live in Cambridge and booked it for visiting family because of the perfect location. It’s quiet, but essentially in downtown and an easy walking distance from Parkside (the national express from Heathrow). The place itself exceeded my expectations, it’s a lovely flat with very comfortable amenities. My parents loved the giant king bed. Shower also got glowing reviews. I would definitely pick this place again.
The hotel is located in the heart of Cambridge and a short walk to the University and its attractions. The rooms are well decorated and neat. The hotel serves an amazing breakfast and has a very nice bar with a wide range of whiskeys, cocktails etc. Definitely a place to stay at for a visit to Cambridge as the hotel has a luxury University feel to it which adds to the Cambridge experience.
Great hotel on the outskirts of the city! beautiful spacy room with lovely bathroom and huge shower!
parking under the hotel is easy and cheap(15pounds)
We were able to take our tiny dog as he needed a operation at small pets hospital university Cambridge which was just on the other side of the road!
Helpful and friendly staff, lots of character, unbelievable a building this old still being used today as a Hotel. Room was comfortable and clean. Perfect location for visiting Duxford Air Museum, with decent pub and restaurant on site.
Would definitely recommend or stay again in future.
Arundel House Hotel was great value for money. The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating, especially as one member of my group was travelling with a newborn. The location was also great - a short walk across the green to Cambridge city centre.
good practical little family run hotel. Staff were friendly & helpful. Close to Addenbrooks Hospital which was convenient for this trip. Have stayed here last year on a sightseeing trip to Cambridge city centre and equally convenient for that too.
Very nice and clean hotel with great facilities. The location was very convenient for Cambridge city centre (around 15 to 20 minutes walk).
The staff at hotel were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel was used by families and couples alike.
Lovely hotel, great room, swimming pool was great bonus with hot tub/sauna (was busy in the day but fine in the evening) Staff were exceptional! A half hour walk to Cambridge city center or short 5 mins away on train. Highly recommend!
No frills hotel for a great price, good for work travel. My room was quiet despite being right near the train station - good location to reach anywhere in central Cambridge. The room was nicely decorated and comfy bed.
The Hotel is ideally located off the M11 with easy access to Cambridge City Centre. It is surrounded by acres of farmland and lovely walks through woids
