The Manor House Hotel, hotel in Oban

The Manor House Hotel features a fine dining restaurant, drawing room, fully licensed bar with outdoor terrace and garden.

Great location, beautiful property, amazing views, comfortable beds, quiet space, delicious breakfast! The absolute highlight, however, was the staff and David in particular. David proved how wonderful he was before we even arrived by calling to make sure we were okay when we were running a few hours late from when we said we’d be there. He then went above and beyond for our entire stay, providing recommendations, suggesting new Scottish beers/whisky based off what we had already ordered and liked (and was doing the same for other guests’ gin preferences), and generally being a delightful person to talk to. We learned so much about Oban and Scotland just by chatting with him! We will definitely be back!

FAQs about hotels in Oban

Gateway to the Inner Hebrides

Oban is a city built around a late 18th-century distillery that produces one of the finest single malt whiskeys in Scotland. This normally peaceful town is invaded during summer when tourists use it as a base to visit the Inner Hebrides islands such as Mull, Lismore and Coll, supporting its status as the Gateway to the Isles.

The horseshoe-shaped Oban Bay is sheltered by Kerrera Island with its spectacular Gylen Castle. Award-winning seafood restaurants and lively pubs line George Street and the waterfront of Corran Esplanade adjacent to the harbour.

Take a short walk up the hill to McCaig’s Tower, a structure based on the Roman Colosseum, for the finest views of Oban’s centre and the outer islands. When you get back down to sea level, stroll into and stumble out of the Oban whiskey distillery after sampling the local version of the 'water of life'.

Admire the coastal scenery as you travel a bit out of town to the 7th-century ruins of Dunollie Castle, home of the Clan MacDougall. The Firth of Lorn gives visitors a fanatstic opportunity to try some sea kayaking.

As the capital of North Argyll, Oban has a great selection of hotels, guest houses and B&Bs available on Booking.com.

Oban is a bustling busy little town with many visitors and many others using the towns ferries to travel to the popular Scottish Islands ! Lots of shopping available, Plenty of places to eat and drink to suit any budget and gift shops galore probably for those with plenty of spare cash I was able to buy a waterproof jacket (hooded) having forgotten to pack my own got a great deal and made little dent in my wallet! Been to Oban a good few times and hopefully will be back a few more!

Oban is an absolutely beautiful coastal town with great access to the rest of the Highlands. The ferries were very easy to use and we had a wonderful time exploring the Isle of Mull and travelling past the Isle of Kerrera on the way. Also make sure to head towards Dunollie Castle and take the tour round - a great time if you enjoy history or stories of the clans. All of the food establishments that we went to were delicious and had great options. Highly recommend the ceilidh dancing on a Monday and Thursday night as it was a cracking time.

Beautiful Victorian building right on the waterfront which is always spectacular in Oban. Despite the reviews we booked last minute for a break away just 40 minutes from home and we were not let down. Whilst for the price I do not expect this to be like other hotels we use worldwide but it was clean, comfortable, warm, shower and bathroom were great, parking right outside and we walked into town for dinner, drinks and some live music. Staff were courteous, polite and fun. Did not eat or drink with them but everything else no complaints

Corrimar made us like Oban. The room was clean, big and with big windows open to a fantastic sea-view. It’s only 10-15 mins walk to the city centre along the seaside. We are not fuzzy about breakfast. The restaurant in Oban Bay Hotel a few blocks away totally satisfied our crave for good food. To us, Corrimar House is perfect. We will definitely come back.

Being a premier hotel in Oban it does cost more. The fact that you are just yards from the train, bus and ferry terminal make it a prime location. It does have a spa but I didn't have the spare time to use any of them.
