Staff were very helpful. They found a lost ear ring for us to return later in the day to pick up. Coffeee refills were good as well.
This charming traditional coaching inn is a Grade II historical registry listed building and still retains many of its beautiful original features, such as exposed wooden beams.

Very helpful staff, and our room had a great view of the town. Great historic building to stay in. Maybe bring ear-plugs as there’s quite a lot of early morning town centre activity!! But this is balanced by having such a great location for views and being within a short walk of everything.

Breakfast was self-catering which was ideal for me since I don't like fitting with hotel timetables and don't always want a huge cooked meal. Bread, butter, milk and coffee were provided in the annex, along with excellent jams. Refills were no problem for the hosts. The room was very quiet.

We arrived too late for a shopping trip through the town but it looked interesting enough to make another trip during the day. We had an inside meal in the Chippy by the gateway into the town and it was very good. I think that it would be an interesting town to explore and there is the river to check out as well. It looks like you can even park in the town which must be a rare bonus. We would have liked to see some of the historic sites but sadly we were basically only staying overnight.

Monmouth is a lovely town with lots of shops, market, places to eat and theatres. We stayed to go to the theatre and had an excellent evening show with Alfie Moore. There are excellent butcher shops and M&as food . There are lovely riverside walks and further afield the Forest of Dean to explore.

Monmouth itself is very pretty and quite touristy. We didn't spend too much time there but explored the countryside and villages around. We went to Symonds Yat, Tintern Abbey, Chepstow and a couple of castles. What a beautiful area. This area is also quite food-y. In fact the small restaurant we used on our first evening had a Michelin star - how lucky was that?

There isn't much to do here, but the point of our trip is always the same, so we do get a lot of enjoyment out of it.
People are so friendly and helpful. The only place I know where around 80% of the population say good morning, and acknowledge you.
Two definite recommendations - if going in August head to Harts (fantastically discounted bras and swimwear for the ladies), and don't leave without going to Coffee Lab. Superb!

Monmouth is a lovely small town, with an excellent array of shops, including many small specialised enterprises, some interesting historic buildings, beautiful countryside around and also very friendly people. There is plenty to do and see in the town and it is a great centre for visiting cities such as Cardiff, Hereford, Cheltenham and Bristol. Not far from Monmouth is Symonds Yat, on the border between England and Wales, and some fantastic border castles such as Goodrich, Skenfrith and the White Castle. Road links too are very good.
Bharat was very welcoming and helpfully sent us in advance a list of places to eat in the area, together with clear directions for locating the house. Our bedroom was large, tastefully furnished, clean and comfortable. At this time of year, heaters in b&b and hotel bathrooms often prove inadequate, but that was not the case at Torlands. No chilly shiverings and damp towels for us. The spacious guest lounge on the top floor is lovely, with stunning views across the surrounding countryside.
Stuart, our host, was very welcoming. The breakfast was delicious and the room was very comfortable, quiet and clean. The hotel is just a short walk from the town centre and there is a supermarket close by. It is easy to get to, parking was onsite and although situated next to a main road, the rooms are so well insulated we could hear no traffic noise at all! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it as a base to Monmouth and the Wye Valley.
All the staff where very friendly, helpful and made you feel welcome. The room had everything you needed, great value. Breakfast was lovely. Plenty to choose from. Full English and provides for vegetarians too. Its only 2 minute's walk away from the hotel to, restaurants, shops and the history of Monmouth. Me and my husband will be looking forward to the next time we stay at The Riverside Hotel.
John's Lookout was the perfect property for our stay in Monmouth. The location was perfect - a few minutes walk into the town and very easily accessible to get onto the motorway. The view was absolutely amazing and the neighbourhood was quiet. The actual house was a home away from home with all the modern amenities and very nice finishes complete with outdoor entertainment area.

Hotel rooms were spacious, bathroom were modern and spotless. Air conditioning was brilliant as 27 degrees the day we stayed, but lovely and cool in the rooms. Fantastic choice of cooked breakfasts in the morning with it being a Weatherspoons.Greatlocation just off the high street.
Staff friendly and helpful. They were in a bit of a catch 22 situation as the hotel was just about to close for refurbishment for 4 weeks and so had no other facilities or food provision available. This was explained up front so not too much of a problem.
We loved this pub stay, amazing find in the heart of Monmouth, Vickie (especially) & her lovely team made our anniversary stay extra special, so friendly & welcoming & can’t do enough for you, highly recommend a stay here, we’ll be back soon!
Neil was so friendly and interesting. The place is full of history and character and if you're looking to stay somewhere other than a typical hotel, then this place is for you. Original fireplaces from the 16th century. Amazing!
We never stayed there as the electric was off and they could not find the key to open the cupboard where the fuse box was. We got refunded and went and booked a different hotel. Would be net book this place again
This hotel was in a very good location just off the dual carriageway, and had a very very very quick check in at the Asda opposite (ignore all the emails that tell you to go to Spar)
Lovely atmosphere, kind and attentive staff and excellent standard of decor. We loved the food in the bistro, too. We'd come back to Monmouth just to come back here. That good!
