Alma Inn & Dining Rooms, hotel in Felixstowe

Featuring free WiFi and a restaurant, Alma Inn & Dining Rooms offers pet-friendly accommodations adjacent to The Pier in Harwich, 1312 feet from the town center. Guests can enjoy the on-site bar.

The best inn I have ever stayed inn! It's a 1500s building and it is gorgeous and fascinating inside. So much to look at, lovingly and tastefully restored and preserved. See pics. Fantastic staff. I didn't use the pub / restaurant but it looked superb. I did have breakfast which was 10 out of 10, see pic. The location is in the heart of the historic old town, all the streets are narrow and quaint, I managed to find parking up the street, but the whole area wasn't designed for motor cars. Be aware that the many steep stairs are not suitable if you have mobility issues or heavy suitcases, so if that's you call them to discuss your options. See the pic of the paper they gave me to help me navigate the labyrinth! Overall the best historic property I have ever stayed in, and I have travelled a lot. Don't miss staying here!

Felixstowe has a really good promenade giving access from Langaurd Point to Old Felixstowe and beyond via a short beech walk to the Ferry Boat Inn. The prom also gives access to a good range of cafe, bar and eating establishments, the spa Pavilion being well worth a visit, the town itself is but a short walk from the pier and has a pleasant pedestrian only high street

Plenty of nice restaurants to choose from. High street has plenty of shops including quite a few independent shops. Plenty of things to do at the seafront where you can have a nice short or long stroll along the promenade

The promenade was really nice, plenty of entertainment plus free outdoor play areas including ping-pong tables! The walk along the beach was very nice, right beside the golf links up to the Ferryboat Inn. Good food. but do book beforehand as it is very popular

Although the weather was less than kind, my stay was pleasant and comfortable. The Great Orwell Hotel was the ideal venue for my need to be near the centre of town and close to the seafront for a bracing morning walk.

    Felixstowe has something for everyone.

Felixstowe has something for everyone. There is a great mix of shops - chains and independents. The beaches are clean with decent facilities and amusements. The Dock end has the fort and museum with the excellent cafe. The amusement arcades are generally clean and varied with fast foods between. The pier has the obligatory slot machines with a cafe and food kiosks near the leisure centre. Old Felixstowe has quieter beaches and a large carpark. The ferry end is quieter but charming. What we don't enjoy...the bumpy, bouncy roads and the ban on motorhomes in most of the car parks.

There is very little choice of hotel in Felixstowe, so your choices are really limited. We chose the Best Western as hopefully the most passable of a not great, old fashioned bunch. So what's good... we met 2 staff members and both were very nice. It's very close to the high street shops and also the beach/pier etc... There is limited parking, but we got there early enough to get a space and it was fine. The room was average size and did the job. We didn't go into the restaurant/bar so cannot comment on that.

The girls on reception were so friendly and worked hard to accommodate my partner and I with our baby by providing a travel cot and giving us one of the larger double rooms on the ground floor. The room was a really good size and was clean. It was only a short walk to both the beach and the town centre There was free parking We had everything we needed and we were very happy with it. We will book one of the bigger rooms again on our next trip to felixtowe

Loved the bed and linen, especially the towels. Loved the staff who were unfailingly charming and helpful. Location was good, near bus stop, railway station, cheap petrol station and easy parking and walk to High Street, shops, cafés and seafront. Loved the dining room, full of atmosphere. Food excellent. Ate too much! Loved the downstairs rooms, plenty of room to sit and read or play games. Didn't use the bar but it seemed cosy and well stocked

After being in such a bad hotel which I left with 3 days left. I booked this lovely place it was cosy, and the bed was really comfy. The view was great, and Donna was very nice.I didn't realise the tv only had bbc, iplayer, and your own netflix. I kept searching, and Donna explained as I thought it had gone wrong, just me, though, lol

The Public Areas were very pleasant & I understand that it has been through a fairly recent refurbishment in areas. My wife left her phone charger in the room. The Hotel were able to find this and post it back to us so that was very nice of them.
