Carreg Bran, hotel in Llanrug

Carreg Bran is a family-run country hotel nestled in 3 acres of gardens located just 1 minute from the A55 and close to the Menai Straits.

I think the reviews on here are unfair - great location for Snowdonia, friendly staff, cheaper than a travelodge and comfy bed!

Garddfon Inn, hotel in Llanrug

Located in Y Felinheli, Garddfon Inn offers beachfront accommodations 8.7 miles from Snowdon Mountain Railway and has facilities like a garden, a restaurant and a bar.

We loved our stay here. The room was very spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable. The room is above a restaurant/pub which we actually enjoyed. It wasn't loud and it was convenient being able to grab a beer or some food. It's a nice little town right on the water. They don't offer private parking, but you don't need it since there is always plenty of parking on the street in front.

Loved the location (close to castle and WHR) and friendly staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable, but the muggy weather during our stay made it little difficult to sleep. Would definitely recommend to others.

Meifod House, hotel in Llanrug

Set in Caernarfon, in a building dating from 1904, Meifod House offers a garden and guestrooms with free WiFi. Offering a terrace, the property is located within 1.6 mi of Caernarfon Castle.

Delightful! The house has an energy of it`s own, vibrant and purposeful to make you enjoy the stay, feel thrown back in 1960. All the rooms are wonderfully furnished (library, living room, dining room, the bar, etc). The hosts are friendly and very helpful. If you want to have an experience, we recommend staying here: everything is made for comfort. Our room was spacious, there were mirrors everywhere, the vines are hovering over the windows very so discreetly, the bathroom (with a vintage tub) was perfectly sized for a nice bath time!

The Llanrug area is a good base to get to the surrounding scenic areas. It is ideal to get north to coastal towns also across to the Isle of Anglesey. The Snowdonia mountains are within easy reach and further south there are more coastal towns ie Pwllheli to Portmadoc.

We stayed in Llanrug but travelled to various places so can’t really say much about the village. The hotel was lovely were we stayed.. it’s about 25 min drive to Snowdon railway station and Betws-y-Coed is 45 min drive where we did most of the sightseeing.

Situated on road between Lanberis and Caernarvon.

Situated on road between Lanberis and Caernarvon. About 3.5 miles from Lanberis, so not a short walk but far enough to not have the crowds of Lanberis. Good proximity if you intend to travel on Welsh Highland Railway. Good location for quieter less extreme walking and cycling. Facilities are not as plentifull as the more established tourist areas.
