Lovely old hotel with a connection to Dylan Thomas. The staff were excellent. The breakfast was probably the best we had ever had and the same for Dexter's restaurant, outstanding. A cheese souffle to die for. Lilith our dog had a delivery of a silver foil handbag full of sausage each morning. She had a bag of gravy bones to go home with. The room was huge and comfortable. Highly recommend.

Paul was a very pleasant host, as he always attended to my needs, and always offered me coffee or tea. The place was unique and left me feeling as though I had just left a home of a family friend. The area was very quiet and I got a very uninterrupted and sound sleep, first time since travelling around.

The Fox and Hounds was fantastic. The room was nicely done out, clean and modern. The food was fantastic, possibly the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. The staff were friendly and helpful and the atmosphere in the restaurant was great.

A random booking in an unknown part of Carmarthenshire, but a joy to discover...i wrote to friends - the Spot that Time Forgot. Ferryyside is a ribbon development area along the banks of the estuary...so glorious views - see from our room. Local shop is a Steptoe mix of treasures an essentials. Possible walks for all grades, chatty helpful locals and Carmarthen or Llanelli by train IF you need everyday life!!!
IF you venture to swim in the sea - beware to enormous jellyfish...many to be seen strewn along the shoreline after high tide!!!

This is a good base for exploring this part of the world, but don't expect fast roads, Excellent dog-walking available as the estuary beach is very close (not wheelchair accessible). Fast train service available into Carmarthen. During the pandemic restrictions, don't expect un-reserved pub lunches. We loved nearby Burry Port, a good daytime restaurant at tiny Pembrey Airport. Enjoy.

Ferryside is a lovely place, very oldy worldly with a lovely beach. It has a small train station and is a good location for visiting other parts of Wales. Ferryside itself only has one small shop, a pub and a cafe. A very interesting, gem of a place.

We liked the place the people the food the setting it was just a little tired in part ie bathroom ceiling and outside could do with a tidy. We had a great time exploring the area and we loved the castles especially Kidwelly. Most parking is reasonable price or even free. Went to museum of speed at Pendine but they are rebuilding should be ready 2020. But the sands are fantastic. We stayed 4 nights but could have gone on longer, if only.....

Only a short way from the A40/A77, but feels like another world! Peaceful place but still with a small village shop, community post office, bus service and train station. Lovely estuary setting looking across to the castle and village opposite. Several places to eat to suit most budgets too. Easy to walk around and the car park is free too! A great base for walking, with access to the coast path and lots of circular walks available with the use of a good OS map.

Ferry side is a lovely friendly place, The beach is lovely for dogs and kids alike ,
It Has a railway station which means that you can travel to the big towns near by with out having to worry about the traffic
Blink and you'll pass Calaon y Fferi. Externally it's looks like an old office building - parts of which it was. However, it's been really nicely converted into a place to stay. If you're there on the right days (see comments below) the food in the attached restaurant / cafe looked (we didn't eat) really good. It's a stone's throw to the beach at Ferryside and the railway station.
What was very good to see was the effort being made to reduce the carbon footprint of the hotel.
The premises are run for the benefit of the Ferryside community. There are several little businesses in this broad complex and everyone we met was absolutely charming and really friendly. Our room was really quite big, very clean, and our own seating area outside which would have been great for keeping an eye on a dog. Nice views from the room and everything very clean.
We really liked this hotel. The staff were very friendly and the room was perfect with plenty of room and clean and comfortable. We were able to relax in the pool, jacuzzi and sauna after a hot day. The sea view and surroundings were lovely. We ate in the restaurant which was delicious and good value. The breakfast was plentiful. We will stay again.
this is a superb hotel food is above expectation the room was above all i expected the views are superb from the room and the facilities in the room where superb i will go there again and this is not the first time we have been there they are also pet friendly and the beach is about 30 yards from the front door
The appearance of the hotel is unusual but everything else is excellent. The welcome on arrival was good and efficient, the rooms were clean and well finished. The adjacent restaurant is excellent and I would highly recommend it. The whole complex is a part of the local community.
Our room was very good... wouldn't have been out of place in a 5 star hotel. The chef cooked our food to perfection and the waiting staff were polite, well mannered and seemed genuinely interested. The spa was also very nice.
Everything was as good or better than hoped for. The staff were helpful and the breakfast and evening meals were great value for money. I would definitely recommend the hotel and stay here again if in the area
A brilliant collaboration of local people and artists who are in the process of transforming a run down site into a community centre and hotel. We’ll be back.
