I especially like the location of the hotel. It is very close to the castle and cathedral. This was my second stay at Castle Hotel, and plan to stay there in the future.

The staff were brilliant, especially the receptionists- mention Lilian in particular. Made every effort to reserve a room for us when our daughter was taken ill and was genuinely concerned. Very many thanks. Her morning colleague was exceptional too.For this very reason we may book again.

Lincoln was a powerhouse of medieval England and retains amazing monuments from that period. In the Uphill district is the castle built for William the Conqueror. Inside its an original copy of the Magna Carta and its ramparts offer fabulous city views. Across the cobbled square which houses the large Christmas market is huge Lincoln Cathedral whose unusual façade features 2 tall towers, while another at its centre overlooks the Bishop’s Palace.
Connecting the cathedral quarter with the Downhill district is aptly named Steep Hill, a narrow street lined with unique shops and historic buildings including the Jew’s House. Even older are the Roman Newport Arch, Mint Wall and the well on Bailgate.
This road slopes down to meet the River Witham at High Bridge, a stone-arched structure with a half-timbered building atop that is the oldest of its kind in England. Lincoln boat trips depart from the Brayford Pool just west.
Another monument is the 18th-century Ellis Mill, opposite the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. The Collection combines an archaeology museum and art gallery, while The Lawn has a conference centre and the Joseph Banks Conservatory, displaying artefacts he brought back from adventures with Captain Cook.
Booking.com’s Lincoln accommodation covers luxury waterfront hotels, guest houses by the university and cheap apartments near the train station.

We liked the numerous places to eat.
We liked the numerous places to eat. We enjoyed visiting inside the Castle, the walk around the Castle walls, and seeing the Magna Carta. The steep walk was an enjoyable bit of exercise. We were disappointed at the cost of and limited access to the Cathedral, I really expected to be able to enjoy and discover more of its splendour.

Having been at school in Lincoln and lived there until the middle 1980s I was not expecting the wonderful improvement that has occurred - largely I suspect as a result of the relatively new university being established there. The vibrancy of both the city and the ancient exhibits (Norman Castle and Cathedral; Roman remains; Museums and Library all seemed to be as good as anywhere I’ve been and the buzz about the City was evident in that I think I detected only one shop that did not appear to be either occupied or under change for a new occupier - in stark contrast to Salisbury that I visited last year. In particular, Brayford Pool - a Roman artificial lake/pool as a terminus on the navigable River Witham - has been transformed as the main focus of Lincoln University and is buzzing with not only student life but a waterside complex of both national and local restaurants, hotels (Hilton etc) and marinas. I only stayed for 3 days as I thought, from memory, that I could just revisit my old haunts but I intend to come back for a much longer stay.

The old parts around the Cathedral are stunning, with some lovely artisan shops. Plenty of places to eat. The Cornhill quarter is being revamped and will be pleasant. The High Street into the City is rough and I wouldn't walk it after dark. The International Bomber Command Centre is stunning and a must for anyone interested in WW2 history or wishing to remember someone. The volunteers are very friendly and knowledgeable. In fact we met many helpful and informative people around the city.

Lovely castle and some lovely shops, although a few empty ones as is usual these days. The hill will put some off, but plenty of restaurants and bars. If you like your real ale, The Strugglers Inn is the place to go.
Friendly town, will return.

We enjoyed rhe mixture of ancient and modern & it was great for a short break. We found the free tour of the guildhall very interesting, the castle is well worth a visit & what we could see of the cathedral without paying the £11 entrance charge is wonderful.
Parking was provided at property from midday on day of arrival until midday on departure day. Parking in city is very expensive but there is a park & ride which we used & found convenient .

A great city to explore on foot.
A great city to explore on foot. The Cathedral is amazing, dog friendly and very welcoming. Unfortunately the Castle isn't but there is plenty more to see and do. Wonderful selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. Perfect for a short break.
We absolutely loved the style and decor of this hotel. The room was well appointed, including tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom has motion activated strip lights that are brilliant in the middle of the night. Breakfast is wonderful and the menu choices are lovely - it is a nice change being able to choose your breakfast rather than having a buffet. It’s a 10 minute walk from the hotel to Lincoln castle, Lincoln cathedral and the gorgeous old shopping streets.
Staff, while they could not find our booking, did everything they could to resolve the issue. The accommodation they provided was large and very well located (Right next to the Cathedral and Lincoln Castle). It would suit a large group but the limitation of a single bathroom needs to be taken in to account when booking. Has a great lounge area and kitchen with a large (could seat 10 + people easily) dining table. Great for parties (If the accommodation allows it).
This hotel is my favourite place to stay in Lincoln. It has a homely, friendly feel and the staff are a delight. The building and amenities are beautiful and cosy. I personally really like that a delicious croissant breakfast is delivered to the room and that there is milk, orange juice and water in the fridge. I upgraded this time to a deluxe room to get a bath and it was a beautiful bath, as well as the room having a stained glass window with great views.
Everything, we asked for a room with a walk in shower and it was provided at no extra charge.
We had dinner at the hotel and it was most enjoyable.
After breakfast we had intended to visit elderly relatives in Lincoln prior to attending a funeral but we discovered the car had a flat tyre. While I had to stay with the car to await the AA my wife was well looked after by the hotel receptionist, who arranged tea and a taxi.
The location was brilliant. I was very impressed by how clean the room was,the shower was the best I've had in a hotel and the beds were really comfortable. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I was impressed at breakfast as there was a separate gluten free section including a toaster. The food was clearly labeled for allergens and I enjoyed a wonderful breakfast. I will definitely be returning.
I loved how cozy and clean the room was. It has even a small fridge in the room. I travel a lot and even some big hotels don't have that.
The location is perfect, very close to the city centre. I used to live in Lincoln and I didn't know this beautiful house before. I would recommend it 100% and I would stay there if I need a place to stay when I come back again.
Perfect place to relax, secluded and private.
Kitchen had everything it needed if you want to stay in and cook
So lovely and peaceful sitting and watching the birds and ducks over the lake!
No wifi so TV only had free view channels - Iv put this as a positive as that’s what this kind of trip is about!
15 minutes drive to Lincoln which is a lovely day out
Excellent location, literally round the corner from the Lincolnshire Museum (highly recommended) and an easy 10 minute walk to the historic city centre. Local shops very good, particularly fish and chip shop on Burton Road.
Lots of accommodation in this amazing house, all very comfortable. Appreciated the garage parking too, and small lawn for our dog.
Comfortable beds and a good size twin room with two decent size singles. Lift to the rooms, plenty of parking, great location just down the road from a train station in to Lincoln. Hotel was warm too.
I had to book here short notice after my other hotel had really uncomfortable small twin beds so I really appreciated it.
What a real gem sometimes we are so use to using chain hotels we forget about independent places, in the upper town oh Lincoln not far from the cathedral very steep walk into town but easy taxi service if needed really good breakfast with lovely staff our bedroom was beautiful really charming would 100% stay again
This property is a terrific location just feet from Lincoln Cathedral and Castle. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and attentive and the restaurant is very good. I didn’t rate it excellent because the rooms are a bit small but otherwise a very nice hotel and a good value
The location was as expected with the bonus of the walk and ride and hop on/off bus stop outside the hotel. The breakfast was ok the staff friendly
It was a bonus being able to leave our cases with the reception until our time to leave Lincoln
It's an Ibis so expectations were not high. Friendly check-in, clean comfortable room with good shower. Reasonably spacious, but I was on my own. Well situated on the Lincoln ring road so okay for a night.
we have stayed at The Bentley for the past 20 years and as always been our favorite hotel in Lincoln, it is ideally placed and is or was the best staffed hotel.
AS stated above all the aspects of a hotel are catered for in a professional and effective manner. Whenever I am in Lincoln, IBIS is my hotel of choice.
