Cute town with shops, restaurants and a working Royal Castle called Hillsborough Castle that is worth the price of admission to see. The castle gardens were beautiful. A visit to the palace of Hillsborough is a must for those interested in history, the arts and / or gardens. The guides are knowledgeable and friendly. There is a lovely shop on site. We ate in both the Hillside Inn and the Plough. In our view the food and atmosphere in the Plough won out. It is a beautiful town which is very easy to walk round, and eateries are within walking distance which is great if you don't want to drive anywhere. Our room was inviting and extremely comfortable-- there were 3 of us!! The common rooms were lovely and the breakfast had a variety of offerings. Hillsborough is located in a beautiful area, which i would have liked to explore more. We were in the area for a wedding at a beautiful estate nearby and had a car.
