We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this charming cottage in Wales. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by how peaceful and welcoming the place felt. The cottage itself is beautifully maintained, with a cozy atmosphere that made us feel right at home. Jane and Jonathan were warm, welcoming and made sure everything was absolutely perfect.

Small Seaside Town with an adjacent huge holiday park - literally a town of two halves - the old town is compact, bustling and has small side streets full of genuine shops as well as seaside vendors and restaurants - we didn't go into the Holiday Park area so I can't comment on that. The Seafront itself is NOT for swimming in - in fact its banned on safety grounds due to tide and rocks - - but looks wonderful as the tide grows over the rocks - there are sandy beaches either side of the town that are popular. Expect it to be nicer when the Promenade Esplanade Pavilion, currently under renovation, is finished. Surfing school to the north, by the Golf Course. And anywhere you can pay for a whole days parking on a municipal car park for less than £5 is going to be a winner

The facilities at Trecco Bay are expensive.

The facilities at Trecco Bay are expensive. Each activity carried a separate cost ie zip wire £14 per child per go. The pass for entertainment costs £26 per person & only covers swimming & entertainment. Entertainment starts around 9pm having small children with us we didn’t go there. Pass was a waste of money for our group. Lovely, long sandy beach & a supermarket not too far away

Several clean sandy beaches with an esplanade linking them. Lovely walks on coastal path at both ends. An excellent location for visiting other towns and beaches close by. Car parking is reasonably priced too, compared to south of England.

So a huge supermarket, you could walk to this, you get 1.5 hours here, then if you run out of time park across the road, best one is with Specsavers in view. Very reasonable fees, cash and card. walk through and you have two fruit shops, one bakers, a deli, post office, clothes shops, free clean public toilet, wet fish mongers, no butchers, but deli sells cooked meats, bakers best for bread and Welsh cakes, and other cakes. Mixture of shops , just wander up and down. On to shops near the lighthouse, walk to this and just look to sea. Good coffee and sandwich shops, look for the silver bullet, and get and ice cream, wait till you see it !! Then walk, just keep going.

Beautiful, quiet beaches (it was April!)

Beautiful, quiet beaches (it was April!) Each beach has something for all ages e.g. Coney Beach to the South East has it's amusement park and donkey rides, Rest Bay Beach to the North West has amazing long walks and is good for the surfers. It is backed by a golf course for the golfers! There is a nature reserve further along the coast. The town is a little tired but, there is evidence of works and updating taking place. There is a danger the attractions could be lost to new holiday letting apartments though speaking to the locals! Some interesting little shops and charity shops together with a greengrocers and bakers make shopping more intimate and friendly than the large supermarkets but, there is an Aldi on the edge of town for stocking up if self catering (I didn't visit). We spent a few hours in the very interesting little museum with exhibits that covered the history of Porthcawl and its community. Plenty of eateries and coffee shops. A lovely time spent in the coffee shop right on the esplanade and the two storey coffee shop at Rest Bay...recommended to us and a joy to while a way an hour watching the surfers over a good latte! I definitely plan to return as easy access from the motorway from Bristol and less busy or commercialised than Devon or Cornwall.

It was a lovely home and comfortably accommodated our family. The number of bathrooms were excellent! Good location to amenities, the beach, John Street in town and access back out to the motorway for touring to other destinations and cities nearby. There is a Londis convenience store across the street which made it handy for food, drink and papers. Thanks for making our stay in South Wales a lovely one.

Great Location to town and seafront. Didn't need to use the car at all. We chose the house instead of a hotel as we had our dog with us. The house was perfect for a weekend stop gap to catch up with family. It had a great shower which is important to us. Lovely kitchen with washing machine, air fryer and microwave. Our host was very informative and the communication between us was prompt and excellent.
