We have stayed at the Ashley and the parent hotel, Arundel House, many times over the past 20 years.
The Ashley is well located for our requirements with a good car park. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. As others have noted, the building exterior is looking rather tired. Inside is much better. We try to stay in the same room each visit, but have also used three other rooms. All were clean and comfortable, but the hotel suffers from a silly lack of routine maintenance. In each room we have used, there were windows that do not open because they are stuck, or have broken catches or missing sashcords. Some of these faults I had reported many years ago, but they still exist. The breakfast rooms have now been refurbished to a very good standard. Breakfast there is always good.

Open-plan and open-minded, Cambridge is best known for universities dating to the 13th century. King’s College is the most popular, and its chapel choir is internationally famous. Although accessed from cobbled King’s Parade, it is best viewed from a punt on The Backs, the part of the River Cam behind.
Taking a flat bottomed punt in Cambridge is an institution and gives great views of Queen’s College Mathematical Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs at St John’s College. Upstream is Jesus Green, site of an outdoor pool and a fantastic beer festival. Next to this is Midsummer Common, a park home to the annual Strawberry Fair (and the occasional cow). Opposite are the college boathouses - get up early to see the rowers in action!
Cows also roam the Mill Pond meadow, where the river leads south to Grantchester, a quaint village with a lovely cafe. Places to eat in Cambridge include riverside restaurants and typical English pubs like The Eagle, drinking hole of DNA founders Watson & Crick.
Cambridge shopping options include a daily market (in Market Square), the Grafton Centre and the exclusive Grand Arcade, the latest addition. The Scott Polar Museum and free Fitzwilliam Museum are 2 of many fantastic Cambridge museums.
Stansted Airport is connected by train to the city’s accommodations choices on Booking.com.

Beautiful area with amazing buildings!
Beautiful area with amazing buildings! Easy to walk everywhere. Lots of cafes to find something to eat, and this includes the market. Many green areas. Perhaps if a taxi is required, pre book it as mine did not arrive. Lots of lovely shops if you wish to go shopping, including ice cream shops.
Worth going on a punt tour as you learn so much and all questions are answered with detail. You get to see the other view of the colleges and various bridges that you cannot see due to colleges being closed to visitors as students are studying.

Lunch in Fitzbillies was amazing, again lovely staff and the food was the best I’ve had in a while.
Books shops and art galleries a plenty which meant we run out of time before seeing the 39 steps at the arts theatre. A brilliant day.

Not a good idea to go mid-may as most colleges are closed to visitors with "keep out" signs and guards to enforce it, and that just adds to how posh the place looks and feels. The Scott polar research exhibit was the absolute highlight of my stay though

We didn't visit the Centre of Cambridge.
We didn't visit the Centre of Cambridge.
We visited the Museum of the History of Computing which was fascinating! We then travelled across Cambridge to Eddington to stay at the Hyatt Centric for the night.
We chose this hotel as it was opposite The Storey's Field Centre which was hosting a concert.
The hotel was excellent, in house restaurant The Astronomer catered well for vegetarians.
Eddington is a really lovely area, well thought out, looks new and clean and inviting! Love to go back
The grounds and the buildings were absolutely beautiful. The room was clean and comfortable, with comfy beds and a good hot shower. (The rooms are fancy student accommodation rooms but with hotel style facilities added in). The staff were faultless and cooked breakfast was really good. The location is a 15 minute drive into Cambridge so I’d say it is quite essential to have a car to reach the main city centre as the nearest bus stop is fair walk away. Parking facilities were great.
We had a great stay at Centennial hotel, couldn’t fault anything. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The hotel is in a great location and the car park is a massive bonus, we left our car and walked into the city centre which is an easy walk along a straight road and takes about 15 mins. The staff were lovely and breakfast was delicious. Great value for money and I will definitely be staying again when I’m next in Cambridge!
it is a great location to get to the river, university precinct and shopping. Limited car parking onsite but the is a parking station a couple of block away. Breakfast was available onsite and this was excellent.
The staff were helpful ad accommodating. we rebooked the hotel for an extra night as it was so good and gave us an extra day in Cambridge.
It was comfortable, clean and the renovated rooms were lovely.
The hotel is located in the heart of Cambridge and a short walk to the University and its attractions. The rooms are well decorated and neat. The hotel serves an amazing breakfast and has a very nice bar with a wide range of whiskeys, cocktails etc. Definitely a place to stay at for a visit to Cambridge as the hotel has a luxury University feel to it which adds to the Cambridge experience.
The hotel is great, once located; the sign posts are non excisting :( beautiful room, beautiful bar sadly the bar was closed.
sainsbury is next door for shopping or cheap breakfast ;).
All brand spanking new!
in walking distance of Park and ride!
the bus stops in front of hotel!
Only 1.2 miles away from the little animal hospital cambridge university and pet friendly!!
The Summerhouse was clean, furnished in good taste, and had most things we needed. Our host was helpful and friendly. He provided us with the milk of our choice on arrival and a change of towels during the week. Girton is close to Cambridge city centre, so it is easy to get anywhere. It is considerably cheaper than a hotel in central Cambridge.
great location straight off the motorway. bed was very comfy, powerful and hot shower, lovely little garden outside me room for morning coffee. Easy self check in. Only 5 minutes drive into Cambridge the next morning, parking was free, and accommodation was at least £40 cheaper than other hotels I was looking at in the similar area
new and clean property from Jesus college at the centre of Cambridge. This apartment is the finest accommodation during my trip to England, offering a fine kitchen, a lovely balcony. you got the chance to visit some colleges nearby such as trinity, Jesus, Magdalene etc.
besides, breakfast here if fantastic!
definitely recommend.
My room was very clean, comfortable, and cozy.te staff were nice, especially Anna was o kind. I came there from Germany and if I want to return to Cambridge again I'll definitely book that room again.
Staff were excellent and location perfect for Cambridge City Centre. Hotel very clean although our room was dated. Needed updating. Otherwise restaurant and Bar both great. All in all a nice Hotel.
Very nice hotel clean not far to walk in to Cambridge City centre.
Had a meal in the restaurant very slow service as it wasn't busy food ok had better at other Hilton Hotels
Lovely hotel for a cheaper and more convenient trip to Cambridge. The room was very clean. We have shared toilets and bathrooms, which are quite clean and not that busy.
A comfortable room in a good location for Mill Road and the south side of Cambridge with parking on site. Staff were friendly and the hotel offered good value.
The staff are amazingly helpful and supportive. I faced an issue with my AC and they fixed it remotely, this doesn’t even happen in a five star hotel !
