Everything about Myrtle Cottage was amazing, the owners are lovely and will do all they can to make your stay homely and perfect. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with all the mod cons. There are loads of great finishing touches which make the whole experience thoroughly enjoyable! The breakfast was possibly the best I've ever had, with high quality local ingredients (10/10 sausages). My partner also loved that the owners went out of their way to provide an excellent vegetarian breakfast with good vegan bacon.
Overall, the best B&B we've ever been to and a bargain for the prices charged! We'll be recommending it to friends and family for a long time.
The Beach Hotel offers incredible views across the Bristol Channel and the West Somerset Railway. Located in Minehead, this luxurious hotel is on the outskirts of Exmoor National Park.

Out of season it is quiet and a lot of the shops/pubs/cafes have limited opening times. If you want a break from a busy life, it feels relaxing. The lanes can be narrow and winding, the views out to sea from Porlock Weir are great

Always somewhere to eat and drink.
Always somewhere to eat and drink. Most of the shops were open and a good selection. Easy to walk anywhere.
Locals are very friendly.
Do not confuse the Top Ship with the Bottom Ship! Same owners, similar menu and bar staff work in both. When booking a meal double check you have the right Ship

Porlock is an amazing place to visit!
Porlock is an amazing place to visit! It is old, very quaint. and quite special. It was an honor to roam the streets and check out the shops, particularly the Wortelberry Tea Room where we enjoyed cream tea, a UK favorite and now ours, and the museum. Neil and Tyrone were such gracious and helpful hosts.

Porlock is a little hidden gem in the County of Somerset, South West England.
There a so many different types of walks varying from Exmoor pony and Deer watching to exploring the wooded coombes with beautiful flowing crystal clear streams.
A walk through Horner wood is beautiful too and Webber's Post were you would almost certainly see the ponies close up.
The village of Porlock itself has 3 lovely pubs, which all serve food, plus a handful of tearooms. Whortleberry tea rooms and the Big Cheese both deserve mention.
I am a visitor to this beautiful place and find myself returning again and again to this beautiful friendly village.

Porlock Weir hotel is just down the hill from Porlock.
Porlock Weir hotel is just down the hill from Porlock. Right on the harbour front. There is a fantastic terrace by the harbour wall for eating wood fired pizza when weather is warm enough or just enjoy a drink whilst soaking up the view. There is a great lounge area. There is an informal bar area, where people with doggy’s sit. There is a lovely restaurant where breakfast, lunch and dinner are serviced. Porlock has lots on offer. Shops, small museum. Groceries. Cash point. Pharmacy and Miles tea. Whortleberry Tea rooms is a favourite and there is a great Cheese shop where you can grab a coffee and cake or a snack and stock up on a fabulous range of cheeses and chutneys.
The house is situated at a very serene and peaceful location amongst trees next to a stream and a bridleway that is very useful for walks. Lovely to listen to the running water and the birds. Feels very private and safe. Walking distance to Porlock Wier that has a pub and restaurants. Less than 10min drive to Porlock that has a lot of shops. House has everything one may need and plenty of space. Pleasantly surprised and pics don’t do it justice. Perfect base for exploring Exmoor. We would come back again.
Lovely mansion house with beautiful, comfy rooms. The garden is so well kept and the location is very relaxing. The beach is just a short walk away and the whole area is great for walking and hiking. The staff was lovely. We even booked the sauna (which was really nice) and played squash. Apparently they also have a pond for swimming. Love the idea of the honesty bar with cheese and crackers (we were so tired to leave the hotel in the evening) so that option was great. Would def come back!
Warm welcome from hosts Helen and Shaun. The studio was spotlessly clean and in a convenient location just off the Main Street in beautiful Porlock. There was a small garden and courtyard for our dog to explore and for us to enjoy alfresco wine. Breakfast was served in our hosts’ nearby tearoom and we were given plenty of tips and ideas about where to visit and what to see - including the country’s tallest trees near picturesque Dunster.
I'm a returning customer (but not frequently)
My son and I travelled from Ireland by motorcycle to tour some of Somerset, Cornwall and Devon.
The Lorna Doone is ideally situated for a weekend such as ours.
Our hosts provided off road parking for us which was perfect for our needs.
The staff were extremely friendly and courteous and the breakfasts very good.
WiFi was spot on.
All told, it was very good indeed.
Our two-night stay at the Cottage B&B in Porlock was fantastic. Chris, the host, went above and beyond to ensure that our holiday was memorable and enjoyable. The breakfast provided was really good. Porlock itself is a charming little town with a strong sense of community. We highly recommend staying at Cottage B&B for a delightful getaway. Thank you, Chris, for making our stay so worthwile.
Excellent full English breakfast with a choice of 5 or 6 cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt etc etc. Fantastic!
Tyrone and Neill are excellent hosts and gave us probably the warmest welcome I have ever experienced at a hotel or B&B.
The room with en-suite was comfortable and a good size for an old building, full of little touches that show that the owners really care about their guests.
The most perfect hotel right by the sea. Great sea views. Staff amazing. Very comfortable beds. Breakfast incredible. Free parking with a display card, available from reception, so park up, run to reception then check In. There’s a great fridge for guests to use I. The pantry. Extra tea/coffee available there too.
Beautiful house in a beautiful location, only a ten-minute drive from Porlock. Lots of lovely walks straight from the house. Our stay there felt like a taste of luxury! Staff were very friendly and welcoming, and our room was lovely with a big comfy bed. Breakfast was delicious with a range of options to choose from.
The breakfast was lovely. Plenty of choices and the hot food was well prepared. The location is great. Right in the middle of Porlock. Chris and Clare, couple that run it, are very very friendly and accommodating. They allowed to check in 3 hours early!
Lovely dinner, great staff. Nice terrace to sit out and have a drink before and after dinner. Great location right in the centre of Porlock and close to the South West Coast Path (my reason for being there). Lovely breakfast. Beautiful old building.
