I liked the location, so close to many tourist attractions. The hotel was beautiful. My husband utilized the pool area and said it was good. The breakfast was OK but the bacon and sausage were cold. The view from the restaurant was simply wonderful. We loved the hotel but had issues with the restaurant. Other than the view, the restaurant was not one of our favorites. (explained below). If and when we do return to Athens, we will call on you again but will not utilize the restaurant.

With the Acropolis as the jewel in the archaeological crown of Athens, this city is full of history while embracing the future. Take a stroll back in time through the neoclassical streets of the Plaka, where you'll find tavernas serving tantalizing souvlaki and mousaka, street vendors and live entertainment.
A trip to the Parthenon and the Agora top most lists and can also be appreciated from a distance by walking along the Dionysiou Aeropagitou street, which is away from the busy crowds of the city center.
The changing of the guard occurs every hour on the famous Syntagma Square. From here, Ermou Street provides shopaholics with a fashionable retail sanctuary. The upscale districts Kolonaki and Kifisia are also bursting with fancy boutiques, galleries and bars.
Athens has some of the finest museums in the world, such as the National Archaeological, Acropolis and Benaki Museums. From Athens International Airport to the Port of Piraeus, this is a city bustling with the old and new. On Booking.com you can find everything from modern hotels to a room in a classical building.
We arrived in Athens on Wednesday afternoon. We left Saturday morning. We saw all the sites (that we wanted to see) and added a 3 hour food tour to the mix.
The food was excellent but service was spotty. Not every restaurant serves Greek food! Check menus before sitting down. We splurged one night and went to a roof top restaurant. It was amazing to see the Acropolis all lit up - but it was our most expensive (and worst by far) meal! The view comes at a cost!
Athens as a city was surprisingly clean. It’s a big city and it comes with all the annoyances that every other big city has. Traffic, for example, was terrific. In the US there is a little respect for pedestrians. Not so much in Athens. Just be careful- drivers don’t care who you are or where you come from.
If you are going to Athens before going on an island cruise do ALL your shopping in Athens!!! Prices are significantly better (sometimes half!) than the islands. And if you want Santorini specific souvenirs, you can get them in Athens. Go to the side street shops in Plaka and look around! We found souvenirs from/for all the islands we were going to visit!
Don’t miss the changing of the guard.
Go to the Parthenon either at 8 am or after 6 pm.
The crowds get to be ridiculous up there. The bus loads are gone before 1800 ( but it’s still pretty warm up there.)

Generally the city is quite chaotic and not very clean, but there are some nice areas (also some very not nice ones...). Public transport is working well, you can get to the most important places by metro and get to the beach by bus. We went at end of May and crowd was surprisingly okay, not too bad. If you want to do sightseeing, you should go by end of May i would say as weather was already pretty hot.
For the the city, 3 days are enough, other days i would go to the nearby islands.

Firat of all, I am Turkish and it was my first time visiting my neighbor country and I loved it too much because of our close culture. it felt like home.
Very safe and warm city, there is music everywhere.
also full of history everywhere, too many historic locations and museums.
No need for public transportation at all. you can walk to every attraction locations in max. 15 min from anywhere.
Don't forget to pay a visit to Pireus and Pasalimani area.
This was such a terrific property that if we return to Greece, this will be our first choice in a place to stay. Norma, the host, is fantastic. She is a great communicator and did everything to make our stay fantastic. The apartment is well located and not more than 20 minutes from all the major sights. DO NOT RENT A CAR! Probably the best part of the apartment is the terrace. After a long day of sight seeing, relaxing on the covered terrace with a bottle (or 3) of wine was pure heaven. if going to Athens, stay here!
The two bedroom apartment is spacious comparing to the other hotel rooms we stayed in Greece. The unit has 3 AC units, one for each room. It’s great for the hot summer in Athens. Our unit is on the second floor and it’s quiet.
The host is helpful. There is no Uber in Greece. We have 4 people and lots big luggages, which do not fit into most taxi. So, the host arranged taxi for us, between airport/apartment/railway station/cruise ship port. The driver is responsible and the price is reasonable.
Thanks.
This place is perfect and a 3 minute walk to the metro to get you anywhere you need to go in Athens. It’s 4 stops away from the acropolis and downtown areas. This hotel is amazing and so is the staff! The staff as well as the driver were very helpful. Especially Alexandra and Mr. Socrates. I stayed twice at the beginning of my trip before I started to visit the other islands and at the end the night before I returned back home. I can’t wait to go back to Greece and visit again’ I will be staying here !
This is the second time that my family has stayed at this remarkable apartment. We liked it so much last year that we wanted to return. Odyssey Residence deserves the glowing reviews it receives. It is comfortable, very clean, and well equipped. The washer, dishwasher, and elevator are all extra appreciated, and it is a rare find in Athens to get 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms in 1 apartment. My family plans to make this home base whenever we are in Greece.
We just arrived from an early flight in Athens and wanted some rest before we started our travels in Greece, we therefore weren’t looking for a 4 star hotel but just a place to sleep and rest. This was perfect, great value for money.
- room was spacious, clean and tidy
- shared bathroom was spacious, clean and tidy
- good parking in the street
- place has some cafes right next to it
- good air conditioning in the room
- there is an iron board
A comfortable, modern, stylish and functional private upper-floor balcony property that is superbly located In Kolonaki towards the foot of Lycabettus and right amongst the many shops and restaurants in one of Athens' best areas and a short walk from the X95 bus route from the airport and the Athens Metro at Syntagma Square.
Ideal for singles and couples who don't fancy a hotel, this is basically a real find at a reasonable price.
The staff are really helpful and polite. Actually our experience in Greece was really memorable because of the people, places and events. Astor is old hotel but very near to everything. We love the location of the place, the services of the staff the view. Room is small but we don't stay in the hotel all day. We go for walk most of out time in athens.
I think our room was upgraded ❤️
Over all for the hotel ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Acron Athens was a great place for my family to stay. It was within a 10 to 15 minute walk to all of the historic places, and about a 30 minute walk to Lycabettus Hill. The staff met us at check-in and sent us tips for local places during our stay. Staying her made us feel like we were a local resident of Greece, while have the comfort of safe accomodations!
One more stay at Mitsis Athens Airport, as always everything ran smooth, with a warm welcome, well prepared and a clean room. Bed quality good, AC working properly, all amenities as always in order and useful. The breakfast in the morning as in the high quality hotels - perfect for a start of the journey. Plus the best moussaka in Greece, no kidding!
This is a stunning hotel with the friendliest staff. We were upgraded to presidential suite and I cannot stay enough about the room. Beautifully decorated, clean, comfortable beds and our own private pool overlooking Acropolis. Rooftop restaurant was delicious. Made our trip to Greece even better. We will definitely be returning.
The BEST hotel in Athens without a doubt. The location is superb, come out the door and you’re in the street full of pubs and restaurants. Few mins walk to Plaka and Monasteraki. The pillows and bed are to DIE for. So comfy. The staff are so nice. Kept us up to date by WhatsApp and arranged airport transfers. Loved every second.
This was a great stay for our time in Athens! It was close enough to everything that we had no problem walking everywhere we wanted to go, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The terrace and hot tub view of the Acropolis were simply incredible, and this was truly a highlight of our trip across Greece!
A warm and friendly, English speaking staff, clean, quiet hotel…excellent location (for going into Athens or traveling on to central & northern Greece.) Walking distance to a nice supermarket, 15 min walk to many restaurants. Very nice patio/porch seating for coffee or cocktails, in a garden space.
We loved this hotel:
The location is tactical for seeing Athens,
The staff at the hotel are really kind, really good breakfast (generous and made with yummy ingredients).
Our room was so beautiful and clean, best one we stayed in in our whole time in Greece. You won't regret booking this place!
Its location as it’s very close walking distance to everything you want to do as a tourist in Athens. We have been traveling through Italy and then Greece and this was one of the best air-conditioned we have had so far in the horrible heat of the summer.
Centrally located, yet quiet and peaceful. Lovely rooms with a good size. A definite air of the fifties which confers an atmosphere of a certain Greece. Very helpful and welcoming staff. And greatly located next to the two of the best Athens' wine bars.
Our flight was delayed for the night in Athens and we had to alter plans. We were very lucky to find this hotel that was within walking distance of fun night out at the base of Acropolis! Delightful meal and great way to start our trip in Greece.
The airport was very conveniently located near the airport making our departure from Greece go smoothly. It worked well as a stepping stone between traveling to Athens from the islands and returning home to the United States.
