A short walk from the Acropolis, 5-star Royal Olympic Hotel is located right in front of the Temple of Olympian Zeus and features an outdoor pool and a fitness center.

I liked the location, so close to many tourist attractions. The hotel was beautiful. My husband utilized the pool area and said it was good. The breakfast was OK but the bacon and sausage were cold. The view from the restaurant was simply wonderful. We loved the hotel but had issues with the restaurant. Other than the view, the restaurant was not one of our favorites. (explained below). If and when we do return to Athens, we will call on you again but will not utilize the restaurant.

FAQs about hotels in Athens

Dynamic City With 3400 Years of History

With the Acropolis as the jewel in the archaeological crown of Athens, this city is full of history while embracing the future. Take a stroll back in time through the neoclassical streets of the Plaka, where you'll find tavernas serving tantalizing souvlaki and mousaka, street vendors and live entertainment.

A trip to the Parthenon and the Agora top most lists and can also be appreciated from a distance by walking along the Dionysiou Aeropagitou street, which is away from the busy crowds of the city center.

The changing of the guard occurs every hour on the famous Syntagma Square. From here, Ermou Street provides shopaholics with a fashionable retail sanctuary. The upscale districts Kolonaki and Kifisia are also bursting with fancy boutiques, galleries and bars.

Athens has some of the finest museums in the world, such as the National Archaeological, Acropolis and Benaki Museums. From Athens International Airport to the Port of Piraeus, this is a city bustling with the old and new. On Booking.com you can find everything from modern hotels to a room in a classical building.

Generally the city is quite chaotic and not very clean, but there are some nice areas (also some very not nice ones...). Public transport is working well, you can get to the most important places by metro and get to the beach by bus. We went at end of May and crowd was surprisingly okay, not too bad. If you want to do sightseeing, you should go by end of May i would say as weather was already pretty hot. For the the city, 3 days are enough, other days i would go to the nearby islands.

Firat of all, I am Turkish and it was my first time visiting my neighbor country and I loved it too much because of our close culture. it felt like home. Very safe and warm city, there is music everywhere. also full of history everywhere, too many historic locations and museums. No need for public transportation at all. you can walk to every attraction locations in max. 15 min from anywhere. Don't forget to pay a visit to Pireus and Pasalimani area.

Beware of certain e ticket companies that wont get you skip the line tickets. Get the official e tickets and go to the front of the queue as the e ticket line is hard to see with the length of queues at the Acropolis and National Museum. If you don't get e tickets you could be standing in baking heat for over an hour like we did. Having said that the Acropolis and the museums are amazing - the Greeks the friendliest people and the food delicious. Great for cat lovers too as they are all over the place and very entertaining.

Athens was everything we expected in terms of historical sites to visit, and there were plenty of places to eat. IO Suites was clean and very well presented in a quiet area which was close to the Metro (about a four-minute walk to the nearest station). The 5-day Metro Ticket was super value and made it easy for us to get in and out of the central areas (Monastiraki [closest Metro Station to The Acropolis], Syntagma, and Plaka). A 3-day stay in Athens allowed us to visit the places we wanted to and then move on to Crete (although we also had planned half-days on arrival and departure days in addition which allowed us to maximise the Athens experience).

Evripidou Suites is wonderfully located in central Athens, within very close or easy walking distance to an excellent market and the Ermou Street shopping precinct. My room was generous in size, had lovely decor and was well sound-proofed, making it a real oasis in a potentially noisy central location. I had a lovely breakfast in the hotel's rooftop cafe, with an excellent view of the Acropolis. I stayed only one night at the end of my trip, but plan to stay there on my next visit to Greece and would highly recommend it to others.

This was such a terrific property that if we return to Greece, this will be our first choice in a place to stay. Norma, the host, is fantastic. She is a great communicator and did everything to make our stay fantastic. The apartment is well located and not more than 20 minutes from all the major sights. DO NOT RENT A CAR! Probably the best part of the apartment is the terrace. After a long day of sight seeing, relaxing on the covered terrace with a bottle (or 3) of wine was pure heaven. if going to Athens, stay here!

Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was the best I had in Athens - scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, yoghurt, honey, fruit juices, coffee, breads, cereals. All very tasty! The rooftop bar was also great, with staff taking a photo for us with the Acropolis in view behind us. We went there many times during our stay taking in the great views. This was my favourite hotel in Greece and I'd recommend it to anyone - even just for the breakfast alone!
