The Sunny Side of Croatia
Stunning Split stands proudly on the eastern shores of the Adriatic Sea, and due to its great climate is called the Mediterranean Flower. It features eclectic architecture, spectacular views and delicious cuisine.
Split is centered around the ancient Roman Palace of the Emperor Diocletian, a magnificent building constructed at the beginning of the 4th century AD and featuring limestone and marble towers, columns and courtyards. It lies in a bay decorated with white sails of yachts, as sailing is definitely Split’s big thing!
The city is full of architectural gems, one of which is St. Duje’s Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in the world, built in 305 AD and combining both Roman and Catholic influences. Nearby Varoš is a must-see, one of the city’s oldest parts, full of charming streets and beautiful houses.
Make sure you visit the Bačvice Beach and the Riva promenade, popular with locals and full of cafés and palm trees. While on the hunt for local specialities, try soparnik - wood fired dough filled with vegetables - or local soft drinks Pipi and Orela.

Split is nice beautiful city to be.
Split is nice beautiful city to be. Nice beach and if you are spot on easy to find parking places too. 2 days are enough to have quick visit and explore the city. We spent one day to explore the old city and one day to explore the beach. You can do boat tours too and many other water sport activates are possible too. Split is a beautiful historic town, only spoiled by too mant travellers and cruise boats. When we arrived our boat was moored with 3 others and our rooms were in darkness with no morning view to enjoy. Like Venice, it's best to get out early to enjoy the many lovely streets and historic buildings. Split came at the end of a cruise when we couldn't face another big meal. A fish and chip shop just off the main square was recommended to us and we very much enjoyed a freshly cooked meal perched on stools in the shop! The owner made me promise to try the fried calamari next time and the sample he gave me was excellent.Brown - 10Scored 10

Split has such a variety of things to offer! From the 3rd century Diocletian's Palace to the seafront promenade to the nearby beaches to the range of restaurants to the delicious gelato on almost every corner, who could resist a visit to this pleasant city! Spilt itself was beautiful. There is a lovely old style feel to the place with lovely stone walls and narrow streets. The bus drivers were very rude. On one occasion, they left us standing on the side of a busy road while coursing at us for not getting the first bus even though that bus driver had closed the door and refused to let us on. It was quite expensive on the main street, but there were some lovely restaurants sown the side streets that were cheaper. The market is lovely and has great quality food as well as stuff People were friendly. It was such a relaxing place.Fiona - 10Scored 10

Split was wonderful. Lots of bars, restaurants and clubs. Lovely walks and a beach nearby. You can book trips to various places if you want to see some of the fabulous islands. We went to Krka waterfalls which was stunning. Our host Elena was fantastic and very knowledgeable. We also continued with a trip to Trogir. Hvar is a beautiful island. Fabrique was a nice place to eat. It is very expensive in Croatia. 2 alcoholic drinks cost 28 euros!! Dining out is costly so take plenty of euros.SharonUnited Kingdom

Well laid out and beautifully furnished. Plenty of room for 3 people to stay, with both a double bed and sofa bed. The bathroom is huge with one of the best walk-in showers I've ever experienced. Great communication with the property before and during my stay, including recommendations for local restaurants. An easy walk into the old town. This was one of my favourite places to stay in 2 weeks of travelling through Croatia.

Communication with Nevena was spot on and Jago's help with our cases up and down from the 4th floor was an absolute godsend. Shower was one of the best we had. Balcony was quite small and the local pigeons seemed to love it so didn't sit out on it. Bastion is in a great spot for exploring (and getting lost)in the little streets of the old town. Also not too far from the port and the bus station for exploring further afield

The location was also good, no business of old town, but walking distance from it. I also wanted to mention, I was a digital nomad in Croatia, so I was working while being in this hostel. First floor access was very important for me, and it was an easy ~100 m walk from a parking lot (I had a lot of luggage to bring in, and I drove). Right near a great square that is a bit less touristy than elsewhere in the old town -- I went to Split to watch Croatia in the UEFA League of Nations final, and was not disappointed. Best location for exactly what I went to do!

One thing that made our stay extremely memorable and enjoyable was always kind staff who really give their best and it shows! Except that, the hotel was designed by a famous Croatian designer and is thought out to every little detail. It’s perfectly quiet and comfortable. The Location is amazing, you reach the Diocletian palace in a couple of minutes. All in all I would and will recommend this hotel to everyone and will for sure be coming back.
