Great location next to train station. Other reviews mentioned noise from train station. We did not notice a problem with such.

Salerno is a nice city, it is a very good location to stay if you are planning to visit the Amalfi Coast by boat or bus, or to visit Pompei by train.
Lots of bar, pasticcerie, ristoranti and shops.
Unfortunately the beaches in town are very dirty, lots of rubbish, pity:(

We used Salerno as our base for day trips to Amalfi towns and Capri. It was an easy train ride down from Rome and we avoided the hassles of transferring off train to bus or ferry with luggage.
We did not get a chance to see Salerno sites. We left each day by ferry to other towns. The ferry rides were a great way to see the beautiful amalfi coastal towns.
Salerno offered plenty of dinner choices. Some parts of town are bright and busy. Some a little gritty and too much graffiti.
Day of departure we rented car and drove to Pompeii then up to Tuscany.

Salerno is a relaxed, peaceful city with excellent restaurants, a lively old town, and great access to other locations. It is much more economical and quieter than staying on the Amalfi Coast and is only a half hour ferry ride away from it.

Lovely big town with an old town, cobbled streets and lots...
Lovely big town with an old town, cobbled streets and lots of restaurants and bars. There is a large area of restricted traffic and parking is horrendous, even though it was April every single space along the streets and public car parks were taken. Luckily our apartment owner suggested she book us a space in a private garage and although it cost €25 per night it was well worth it. The port was within walking distance and we took a ferry to Amalfi Coast. Don’t even think about driving along the Amalfi coast as the traffic was horrendous and absolutely nowhere to park. A very busy over crowded coastline.

Lovely Lungomare with views of the mountains of the Sorrento...
Lovely Lungomare with views of the mountains of the Sorrento penisular. Railway station (from where you can travel to Pompeii, Herculaneum, Paestum, Naples and many other places - local and further afield e.g. Rome or further south). Many buses operating all over the Salerno area and Amalfi Coast. Ferry terminal for travelling to Amalfi Coast towns and Capri.
Old Town with narrow streets thronging with shops, places to eat and drink. The Duomo with its magnificent Crypt, Villa Comunale park with the turtles, Castle Arrechi - a steep climb but a great castle and fabulous views.
Not a place for a beach holiday but I'd definitely recommend Salerno for exploring the Amalfi coast, Naples, Pompeii and the surrounding area without breaking the bank!

Great experience.
Great experience. Town small enough to walk easily to interesting sites. Lovely old town. Close to Pompeii and Amalfi without being a major tourist hub. Staff of Burger at greated us on the street the next day. Great personal service. The Grand Hotel was excellent. Great location near the train station and friendly helpfull staff.
Definitely lived up to the high ratings. Guido was so so helpful on so many levels: helping us arrange parking in a private garage 1 min walk from the B&B, communication was smooth & fast, gave us super helpful suggestions on where to go and what to do so that we could make the most of our short time in Salerno. The B&B is centrally located, within easy walking distance of many sites. The room was clean and spacious with a balcony, exactly as the photos indicated. One of the best places we stayed on our trip through Italy.
The hosts - Hari and Roberta - were wonderful. Gracious, informative, very helpful and kind.
I liked the spacious apartment and especially the large outdoor patio. While it had a “city view” it was quiet and clean and nice space to relax.
The apartment is located between 6-10 minute walk from the train station. A 10 minute to the Duomo and old city, and a 3 minute walk to the waterfront promenade. Really convenient.
Best of all was the relative “normalcy” of Salerno compared to the busyness of Rome and Naples.
we enjoyed our very short stay there for one night. It was clean the beds were small but it was nice to have two twins for my daughter and I. We had a gorgeous view of the city from our little balcony. The air-conditioning was very good and that’s a big deal in Italy. You could make the room very dark with the shades and sleep without any noise from the street. The post was very helpful before we got there he gave us many answers to many questions about transportation in location etc.
A lovely modern hotel in a great location. It was an easy walk from the train station down the pedestrian street ( followed directions given to us by staff). Reception desk staff were extremely helpful with their advice and their restaurant recommendations were outstanding. We caught local buses to Vietri( a must visit place) following their instructions. We were pleasantly surprised by Salerno and I think this has a lot to do with the hotel we were staying in.
The host met us and let us into our room exactly as we anticipated. He is a very nice man who explained the hours of breakfast and check out. Breakfast was delicious and had everything you could need or want. The rooms were spacious, clean and the A/C worked great. The beds are a bit firmer than I prefer but that is the way it is all over Italy, to be expected. The most important thing is that it was clean and comfortable and the host was very friendly.
There are four rooms and each one is themed. We stayed in the “London” room and were very impressed by all the little details representing England. It was very well done, and most importantly the room felt clean and comfortable. The hostess was sweet and let us check in to our room when we arrived early, about 1:30pm. This was the first accommodation in Italy that actually provided cloths m, which we were really excited about. It’s the little things!
Cielo Stellato was the perfect place to stay during my time in Salerno! It is conveniently located close to both the train station and the ferry terminal. It is so quiet at night and the view off the balcony is beautiful! Bruno is a wonderful host and provides a lot of useful information to help with your arrival as well as your stay in Salerno. I loved my time there and will definitely return and stay at Cielo Stellato! :-)
This family owned Hotel was a real gem, close to the Train Station and just a short walk to all Salernos attractions we really enjoyed our stay. The room we had was not large but it had a balcony, very clean bathroom and very comfy bed. We found the staff, particularly the owners to be very friendly and enthusiastic about their Hotel and Salerno itself. Alos the breakfast each morning was of a high standard.
The location is great within Salerno, close to the main pedestrian road and the Lungomare, but on a quite little street. The room had view at the Roman Aqueduct. The staff was nice and helped us, though they didn't speak good english. Breakfast was italian: coffee and a sweet pastry product, but the quality was good.
The only thing is the soundproof typical in most Italy; a pair of earplugs will solve it.
Location of apartament is absolutly the best in town - close to garage, lungomare, ferry, shops, everything in 5-10 minutes walk. Mister who was checking us in was very helpful, gave us lot of advices about Salerno and kept contact during our stay and answered every question. If you're looking for apartament in Salerno - no way there is a better one :)
This was a very convenient hotel, right across from the Salerno train station. We were in Salerno to visit Paestum so the location was a top priority for us.
The staff were very welcoming, the hotel and room were clean, and the included breakfast was very good. We were very satisfied with our stay.
A quaint hotel in Salerno. The rooms transport you away from the maddening crowds. The air conditioning was a welcome relief after a day out in the hot Italy sun. I was very welcomed by Massimo and the breakfast bar not far were also friendly and welcoming. I would recommend staying here.
Absolutely beautiful modern, clean apartment and equipped with everything you need. Fabio was very helpful, kind and eager to please. Great location 2 mins to metro and then a quick 10 mins to Salerno centro where the ferries leave for Amalfi coast tours. We will definitely come back.
We had the pleasrure of staying at Salerno Prestige. We were greeted with warm smile and hospitality. The Hotel has a perfect location just next to the train station and in the main touristic street in Salerno. The Breakfast was 5*. Our stay was just exceptional
The property was extremely clean, very comfortable, and very well air conditioned. The hosts were absolutely delightful! They really took care of my mother and me. Though we only stayed one night, it was a welcome sanctuary during our road trip of Italy.
Hotel with large and clean rooms. The seafront rooms have a beautiful view of the Gulf of Salerno. Helpful and polite staff, tasty breakfasts. You can park your car in front of the building.
Great location and price. Breakfast was Covid style packaged food , funnily enough I enjoyed it more than the croissant/coffee thing people seem to do in Italy.
