Amalfi was beautiful. It had the hillside homes but it also had a much flatter area to be able to explore compared to Positano. Full of history and culture. The Duomo was impressive and unexpected. We spent two hours on this self guided tour and loved every moment. The variety of places to stay , eat or shop were all plentiful. Don't miss Savoia Patisserie as it had the best gelato during our 2 1/2 week excursion of the Naples/Amalfi Coast. For a delicious lunch or dinner, make your way to Stella Maris, a beachside restaurant. For lunch, we shared an order of their meatballs with an eggplant ragu plus an order of fried calamari tossed with fresh arugula and parmesan cheese along with a glass of white wine. Amazing! We enjoyed it so much, we went back for dinner with our friends. Over the past 2 weeks I felt that I had eaten so much pasta and pizza, I really needed some fresh greens. I asked our server about the arugula and he absolutely took care of us. They made this beautiful salad of arugula, fresh garden tomatoes, topped with parmesan cheese, fresh squeezed lemon and a drizzle of olive oil. It was perfect. I loved that they were willing to accommodate our request. We also stumbled upon a shop of local artist, Carmine Buonocore, that has beautiful forged metal art. His pieces are incredibly thought provoking and just spoke to my heart. We were so excited to purchase a copper and steel forged crucifix named "Human Turning Point" as it depicts Christ turning on the cross. The title says it all. Carmine was a delight to engage with as we both struggled with our language barrier. He spoke about as much English as I did Italian, thank you to Google translation! Amalfi exceeded our expectations.
Amalfi was interesting but even in mid September, full of tourists! Two nights is enoug - beware of ferry cancellations. We had to find an alternative route back to Napoli. We went for our 45th wedding anniversary and found (on reccomendation) a very nice restaurant.
Great location and close to Ravello for day trip or hiking. Near ferry and bus systems for travel to Postitono and Capri. The hike to Agricola Fore Porta with farm to table lunch and lemonade slushy was a favorite for getting away from the crowds, enjoying nature, and authentic food.
Mid September it was very busy. Ferries bring visitors from Naples off cruise ships. Apart from the cathedral there's not much to see other than watching the boats come is. Cover charge even if only having coffee is €3 per person. Street off of main square has lots of souvenir shops selling anything to do with lemons. It is a fight to get on buses to Positano, Ravello. Long queues and it is often a small bus, probably because the road is steep with hairpin bends so fewer seats. They don't seems to lay on more buses than on the timetable. Suggest using Salerno as a base and taking ferries from there to Amalfi, Capri etc.
Too many tourists (packed with tourists!!) and very hot/humid in early September. I recommend visiting in October; the weather is still warm, you can still swim in the sea and sunbathe, shops/restaurants are still open, however there are fewer tourists so you can walk around comfortably and enjoy space.
There's too many people visiting here and this small place cannot accommodate all the tourists. There are other places in Italy to experience cliffside beauty, try elsewhere. It's madness trying to get around here, there are two taxis in town who can charge whatever they want. We ended up paying 100 Euro for a 10 minute ride back to our hotel. Everything is overpriced. The roads and trails to get around are incredibly steep, it's very hard to get around to things by foot, and I would not recommend a car either because there's no parking. Scooter is best, or boat. Unless you are incredibly wealthy, it's difficult to have a relaxing time here. When we arrived the ferry was cancelled, the train and bus sold out (from Napoli) and the only way to come was by private car which was also incredibly expensive. And then when we arrived the road was closed to our hotel, so we had to walk our suitcases along the road through a construction site and than 2 km to our place. Unless you are coming here for serious trekking, stay in town, do nothing, and you'll be ok, but surrounded by 1000s of other tourists with no escape. Getting on the local bus was akin to boarding one of the Titanic life boats. Good luck.
Amalfi
This is the perfect place for the romantic vacation. Close to all top places (about 6 km up to the mountain from the centre of Amalfi) but the car is necessary because no bus stop nearly. Angela and Emilio the best hosts ever! The room with balcony and epic sea view. Breakfast was wonderful, cooked by Angela from the fresh products each morning. Solaria is always in our souls from now. If you want to be in the Eden without crowds of tourists but with the opportunity to arrive to all Amalfi coast whithin 15 minutes it is the best choice.
Amalfi
A short walk from the ferry port. Centrally located to everything. Most restaurants and souvenir shops are located on the main artery Via D’Amalfi. Walked to Atrani, the neighboring town, to explore one of the oldest and smallest town in Italy as well as to escape the crowd. SH breakfast offered more options than other hotels. Easy bus ride from Amalfi port to Bomerano for the world’s most beautiful hike Path of Gods. Explored Positano after the hike and then took a cheap ferry ride back to hotel. Very convenient!
Most beautiful hotel which completely overwhelmed our expectations. In Amalfi I recommend to stay just there. It is in the very center of the beautiful historical town so you walk just few meters to the beach, restaurants or bus or a ferry. The view from the balcony or restaurant is outstanding and makes you wanna stay there forever. Wish we would book for more than just two nights. The hotel even has a great laundry service which comes in handy when you strolling though amalfi coast for more days.
Amalfi
Excellent and friendly service. Alessio is a great host. He treats you and makes you feel like family, but gives you personal space. He can make good recommendations for anything related to your trip. Food is amazing. Excellent quality and good portions. The room is clean, spacious, and modern. Bathroom is spacious, thoughtful, and well lit. Room view is the best view of the Amalfi Coast. Terrace view is spectacular and provides a relaxing atmosphere surrounded by and orchard and many lemon trees.
Amalfi
Lovely bucolic setting in the back of Amalfi town, easy to get anywhere on the coast (as well as Napoli and Salerno!). The staff is amazing - I woke up early to hike the Path of the Gods and they gave me a butter and chocolate croissant to go literally hot out of the oven. Sit down breakfast on the terrace was also super pleasant. Room is spacious, sparkling clean, AC is great. There was a clothes horse to dry a swimsuit on the balconette.
The views from my room were beautiful, overlooking the delightful square and stunning cathedral. Rita and Michaela at Reception were especially lovely and helpful. The breakfast staff was nice too, the warm pastries were perfect for a cool morning as well as delicious cappuccino. I was very happy to find this nice hotel open in off season, Amalfi is much alive than Positano this time of year. Thanks for a very enjoyable stay.
Amalfi
The hotel is located on a hillside location, so your climb of ca 200 stairs will be rewarded with an awesome view over Amalfi and the coastline. Maurizio and his family are the best hosts, we enjoyed a rich breakfast every morning, and we had help carrying our luggage up and down the stairs. You will reach the city center within 5minutes. Our room was also very spacious and clean. We will be back, thank you Maurizio :)
It is in the heart of Amalfi, surrounded by great restaurants and shops. Even though, the room is noise-isolated with a great view of the city and the water. Just a few minutes from the harbor and the bus station. Easy to take the ferry to all Amalfi coast cities and Capri. Andrea has been very helpful and a great host. Highly recommended.
Amalfi
The property is at the center of the Amalfi town, you can reach everywhere by walking in Amalfi. Free parking is another big advantage of this property, it is almost impossible to find free parking around Amalfi Coast. Cheers to Madalena and his husband, both are very friendly and helpful :)
This hotel is beyond all dreams. The beautiful setup with unbelievable views from every corner, the spectacular breakfast, the sea beach with the smiles and service of the staff, everything was just amazing! If you are planning to stay in the Amalfi Coast - this is the perfect choice.
Stunning location with views of Amalfi coastline and ocean, amazing large comfortable and stylish room, great food and the highlight is the pool and ocean deck you get the best of everything here! The staff are friendly and very accommodating with any needs or requests

very central location which was perfect. staff did a great job. the price was totally worth it. it’s not a luxury 5 star hotel. Its a modest hotel but totally worth staying, especially with a view
