Only 1969 feet from Naples Capodichino Airport, Millennium Gold offers free parking and modern rooms with air conditioning and satellite TV. The city center is 2.8 mi away. Due to an early flight and need to return a rental car, we left Sorrento early and booked a room here because it is very close to the airport and the car rental return. The hotel looks shabby from the outside, which mad us nervous, but the inside was very clean and updated and actually better than the hotel we stayed at in Rome. There is also a nice restaurant/bar area attached. Very close to the airport. The girl at the front desk (Cinthia?) was the most helpful person we met in our 2 weeks in Italy, answered all our questions cheerfully and was so helpful. She arranged for a taxi to come at 4am to pick us up (could have walked but we had a lot of luggage).

Gate 16 Room Napoli is located in Naples, just 2.8 miles from National Archeological Museum and 2.9 miles from Catacombs of Saint Gaudioso. The apartment was beautiful and clean. The location isn’t in the best part of Naples (especially if you plan on site seeing), but is absolutely perfect for getting to the airport (about a 10 min walk - we had a 6am flight, so it was perfect). We got a little lost getting to the property (Google maps was showing it in the wrong spot), I reached out to the host and they were there within 10 minutes to help and make sure we got settled.

Naples is a huge city which is noisy, busy and chaotic but I loved it. We stayed in the old town area where we wandered the narrow streets. They are full of little shops selling all manner of souvenirs and trinkets. I would have loved more time to see other parts of this city. We felt safe during the day and evening but didn’t really venture out at night. The food is delicious with restaurants every few metres. We visited the Veiled Christ and did the underground tour; both well worth doing. We walked from the train station to our accommodation and my initial impressions were that it was quite dirty but once in the old town it was much better, getting around on foot was easy in the parts we saw. My only criticism was the price of a taxi to get to the airport: our flight was very early so it was necessary to book a taxi; €67 for a 5km journey. I will definitely return but maybe opt for a more sociable flight home!
Naples itself is not worth visiting. Moreover, it is a great base from where you can do a one-day trips (I recommend Capri, Positano, Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii). Naples is good for one or two days to explore but don´t expect too much from it. It is kind of dirty and you could feel bit in danger. Buses are quite unreliable. You should deffinitely visit Palazzo Reale di Napoli and its gardens, Fontana del Gigante, Galleria Umberto I, Castel Sant'Elmo, Orto Botanico di Napoli (for free), Parco Virgiliano (beautiful sunset from there), Belvedere Antonio Iannello (best view for mount Vesuvius)
Mayby the best pizza ever. Mushroom risotto and melanzane were amazing. So food was really good. Warm and relaxed athmosphere. Nice sea breeze. Mountain view was nice. Easy walking around the city. Credit card worked almost everywhere.
Naples is lively and seemed very friendly, i always try to speak a bit of the lingo, hello, thank you, that kind of thing and it goes a long way here, tricky to find things like the metro station and we went on the cablecar to the top but could find it to get back down as there don't seem to be many signs for anything but that's probably me not looking and not understanding the kind directions of anyone i asked. went out in flip flops one night just to get a sarni and got my ankles bitten a lot by some little bugs but no problem with trainers and little socks ! weird ! Anyway, great city with friendly people, we'd been warned it was the pickpocket capital of Europe and a bit dodgy but we didn't find it like that at all, enjoyable historic pretty cheap interesting beautiful place
Except for main tourist areas rather dirty and rundown, many homeless. Roads poorly signposted or difficult to read. Unfortunately several locals were unfriendly and unhelpful to foreigners, including guardia civil. Ask the older men sitting outside cafes who will gladly help you. Bus and underground offered great service. It seemed to be only the elderly or tourists who paid their bus fares, may people ignored to check their tickets. The funiculars offer great views of the city. A trip to Capri is a must, but avoid weekends and local holidays as the overcrowding is ridiculous.
Napoli is a fantastic city to visit. Beautiful churches and historical sights, really nice people, great food. Loved every minute! Recommend visiting the island of Procida, which is one of the less touristy islands, for great food, beaches, and lovely walks through the narrow lanes.
