Hotel Dania exceeded our expectations like you wouldn’t believe. It was in the perfect location and absolutely beautiful. Our room was perfect and had the best balcony view over the whole marina and lemon/lime/olive groves. The pool was wonderful and ice cold on a hot day. They had a wonderful bar to order coffees and apertivo throughout the day. Concierge was so so helpful.

If you’re planning on adventuring around the Amalfi Coast,...
If you’re planning on adventuring around the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento is by far the best place to stay. It’s central to everything, and the costs are significantly less. Amalfi is really far from the nearest major airport and Positano is incredibly overpriced for a similar experience. You can see both of those cities in one day anyway, they have all the same shops but the same item in Positano is about $5-10 euros more. With Sorrento there’s easy access to a big port so you can take trips to Capri, Amalfi and Positano by ferry for about $40. You’re also closer to Pompeii, Mt. Vesuvius and Naples Airport.

If you plan on visiting Amalfi coast, I'd recommend you base yourself in Sorrento and go see other places from there. It's not too small and it's well connected with Naples and all the places on the Amalfi. I wouldn't say that it has the best restaurants, but you gonna be just fine and food/drinks prices are reasonable given the location.

Sorrento and the surrounding areas of the Amalfi Coast are breathtaking! Also, staying in the heart of Sorrento was important so we could walk everywhere. We ate at TRATTORIA DA EMILIA at the Marina Grand, which was authentic and awesome food, in addition to the location. We also ate at RISTORANTE DONNA SOFIA, which was right around the corner from our apartment - also very good. We did not have transportation, so we used the train to get to Sorrento from Florence. The Naples train station is a bit confusing, as it houses multiple train stations within the overall station; local, regional, etc. If it wasn't for our host who messaged us to NOT get off at the earlier Sorrento stops, we would have been stuck in the wrong area. Now we know, but it wasn't intuitive like other stations. I think I might consider hiring a driver to take us back to the Naples station.

I booked a place in Sorrento just to see Pompeii, but what a lovely surprise Sorrento was! It's a lovely city, with a vibrant city center, fun streets to meander down, great restaurants and shopping. I feel like I short changed myself by not spending a few more days exploring Sorrento.

You can easily spend a couple of days exploring the cafes, restaurants and artisan shopping areas of Sorrento alone. Food was fresh and gorgeous, seafood especially good. Sorrento is a great base of operations to visit surrounding attractions like the Amalfi Coast (don't miss Revello), Pompei and Capri (very expensive).
It is a popular place for both international tourists and local Italians as a getaway from Rome and Naples. This means it can be very busy. Road rules seem to be a rough guide only, traffic is often chaotic but rarely moves fast enough to be a concern.
People are friendly and helpful, just be patient when crowds are big.
Loved it!

Be prepared to walk a lot and navigate lots of stairs.
Be prepared to walk a lot and navigate lots of stairs. You can get a ferry to Amalfi Coast, Capri, or Naples. The train station is nice and safe. Train tickets are cheap, but be prepared for the trains to be overcrowded. So many nice shops, restaurants, and beautiful scenery.
Clean, bright, fully equipped kitchen, 2 bathrooms, washing machine, ironing board and iron, hairdryer, Sky Tv. The location was ideal being right on the harbour front and only a 10 to 15 minute walk into Sorrento Centre. The view from the balcony of the harbour, Naples and Mount Vesuvius was was amazing. Our host helped with booking trips along the Amalfi Coast, suggesting of where to go, what to see and good restaurants to eat at. All in all a wonderful 4 nights spent in a beautiful part of Italy.
amazingly clean and well furnished room, a lot bigger than most Italian stays, probably the biggest I’ve ever been in Italy, and i have been to a lot places there. the hospitality is great, the breakfast amazing freshly baked and perfect cappuccino. the location is great near the station in Sorrento and a walkable distance to the city centre. Book with confidence this is your place in Sorrento!!! thanks to our hosts and hope to be back one day!
