Nice city, great views. Ideal if the hotel has its own beach. The public beach must be reached either by stairs or by elevator (for a fee). Delicious restaurants. But too many people after 2 years of covid)
Fantastic location, friendly people, took a private (12 people) boat tour to Capri, great hosts on the tour but Capri was too busy for me, my wife, however, loved Capri. Definitely coming back to Sorrento!
Sorrento is beautiful and a great location for accessing a number of other beautiful and interesting places. The town centre is great for eating out and shopping. Bathing is a bit more difficult and it seems that you have to pay quite a lot of money to access the bathing platforms but they are good if you can afford it. It was easy to get to Pompeii on the train and Amalfi and Positano by ferry and although we didn't take it, the bus is good value too.
Sorrento is such a beautiful town with plenty to see and do , it’s very clean and feels very safe at all times , food was very good and very reasonably priced , just be aware taxis are very expensive , and there’s a few tourist traps to fall into but none where that bad , the little restaurants in the alleys we found to be fantastic value and great flavours well priced and clean , lion Ellis beach was abit pricey but the spiaggia de sorrento was better value and we thought much nicer , rovello possitano and amalfi is well worth a visit as is the train to Pompeii, it’s cleaner inside then it looks outside
We travelled to Sorrento for a friend’s wedding which was wonderful! We stayed for a week which was quite a long time to be there, given we weren’t very interested in the extra-curricular trips (ie Capri, Positano, Pompeii etc - if you’re interested in those activities then I’m sure you could easily spend a week there!) It’s a lovely wee place with charm and character. Be prepared with a generous dining and activities budget and research the beach clubs before you go to ensure it meets your desires. There’s a LOT of traffic and sometimes the air on the main streets can feel quite polluted. In high season its generally very busy everywhere, and the old pavements are narrow and not really built for as many people as are actually there. Not very pram/wheelchair friendly.
Breathtaking view of the sea and houses nestled in the mountainside as you drive towards Sorrento. The town is lovely with lots of wonderful restaurants and shops. And Limoncello! It’s very lively and fun. Things quiet down about 10pm so it’s not too much either. The ferry is a walk or cab ride down to the bottom of the city center. Lots of steps. Easy enough if you don’t have any walking issues-otherwise there are cabs or a bus. Just takes a few minutes. From there you can ferry to Capri, Positano (we did both of these) and a few other destinations. We did a separate boat tour around the coast of Capri. Gorgeous caves and rock formations surrounded it! Since it was the height of summer-mid July, the ports were quite crowded. Especially Positano. From Sorrento we took a cab to Rome. (3 hour drive) Pompei is on the way as well as Herculaneum. Both worth a visit! Especially Pompei! You could also just stay in Sorrento and do a day trip to those locations.
Sorrento
Everything! Nino and his son were very welcoming upon arrival, gave excellent advice about the area, provided refreshments, and even made dinner reservations for us during our stay! Nino and his son checked in with us frequently to make sure we were comfortable and to offer any help as needed. The property is historical with modern amenities inside, and right in the heart of Sorrento. My husband and I toured all over Italy, and this was our favorite stay by far! Thank you Nino!
If you’re planning to visit Sorrento, look no further than Lorelei. The stunning location and views from the hotel are probably the best you will ever see! It’s a short less than 10 mn walk from city center, but a very enjoyable one. The sunset bar is just breathtaking, and the breakfast at the terrace is not to be missed. The food and service are outstanding! Staff were super helpful and professional, they even arranged the COVID test required for travel on site.
Sorrento
We had such a lovely stay in Maison Marie. The host is super nice, really helpful, very kind and sweet. The room was very clean, nice comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. The hotel is also located in the best spot meaning just in the center of sorrento, and just behind all the small alleys of the old town. We would definitely like to spend some more nights there if visiting south Italy ever again! Thank you very much for everything
Sorrento
Wonderful rustic location. Farm house set in grounds containing 500 mature lemon trees. A true taste of Italy set high up above Sorrento with fantastic views over the sea towards Naples & Pompei. Wonderful owners. They provided trips up & down the narrow lanes to collect us from the main town & also provided home made cakes breads etc for breakfast.
Small family hotel up the hill in Sorrento. Quite place. Short walk from city center. The owner Marisa is a very nice woman who helped us in every way we asked for. The staff is very nice and helpfull. We got rooms with a great view of the sea and the port. Breakfast is not big but tasty and enough to fill the energy for the day.
Sorrento
Property is large, well furnished, and very clean. It is in an apartment complex that includes a security gate and large swimming pool. Apartment features three bedrooms and two full baths...an advantage for two couples traveling together. The elevator works well and is a bit larger than many I've used while traveling in Italy.
Sorrento
11 out of 10! You can’t find a better money/quaility report in Sorrento. Just ignore the breakfast and noise comments, you are in Italy, breakfast is sweet and the streets are full of scouters! Get ear plugs and sleep like a baby. The owner very polite and helpfull any time, good whatsapp comunication and perfect English!
Sorrento
This property was my favorite during our 2 weeks in Italy. It was bright and clean and spacious. The owner could not have been nicer. The property is at the Marina Grande and just steps from the beach and restaurant there. It has little balconies all over which were great to step out onto to enjoy the view.
The hotel was very clean. Staff very friendly. Less than a five minute walk to railway station. One stop gets you into Sorrento centre and you can also get a train to Pompeii and naples. 1.30 euros to Centre and just under 4 euros to get to Naples and it takes about 1 hour. The breakfast is also very good.
The place and the view was really pretty. The staff was very welcoming, helpful and friendly, also they speak very good English. The bus station was just about 200m from the hotel to go to Sorrento and the bus comes in every 20minutes. If we come back to Italy we will definitely book again this hotel :)
The location was very good, close to the centre of Sorrento and with a bus station near the hotel. The staff was excellent, they did everything to keep us informed and they helped us with everything we asked. The hotel and the room were really clean. I loved everything and I can't wait to go back.
Our view was terrible, essentially of a road and wall. But who cares? You're in Italy. You don't spend time in you room. Room was spacious and comfortable with very good AC which is always a bonus in Europe. Breakfast was superb. As were the areas to enjoy it.
Sorrento
The best accommodation from our holidays in Italy, cannot recommend this place enough. - amazing design, quality furniture -exceptional service (special mention to the two ladies from the reception and Raffaele from the breakfast) -great breakfast -excellent location
Sorrento
Amazing hotel just beside the central square in Sorrento. Close and easy to walk to everything. Vera the host was fantastic. Great, large, comfortable rooms and bed. The best hotel we stayed at on our trip to Italy and would definitely come back :)
It was a really good surprise. Actually, the best hotel that we have stayed in Italy. Comfortable bed, quiet room, great swimming pool and jacuzzi, lovely breakfast, beautiful views, very clean and friendly staff.
Sorrento
Fantastic in every aspect! Receptionist Roberta was very welcoming and a wonderful young woman who went out of her way to make us feel at home! She was the nicest person we met in our 18 days in Italy!
Sorrento
Like a real hotel room with all the facilities (except an iron), very clean and new. The best hotel we had in Italy. We slept very well....we even add two more nights ! To try !
The historic quality of the building was followed through in the furnishings, and while the amenities were modern it felt like stepping back in time to old Italy. Wonderful!
Great location, fantastic scenery, brilliant staff a beautiful hotel in a beautiful part of Italy
The breakfast was the best after 2 weeks in italy
