We certainly wouldn't drive in Sorrento as threads were narrow and the drivers/riders crazy, but walking everywhere was convenient and offered all we needed to enjoy. Also, it was an ideal base from which to explore the Amalfi Coast.

Vibrant city.
Vibrant city. Close to Pompeii and Vesuvius, both of which we visited. City centre is well connected for local transport links via rail and bus. Huge variety of shops and restaurants. Areas of historical interest. We followed a free online walking tour of the city on our first day to see all the main sites. Worth travelling out of town on the bus to less crowded beach areas. We visited Spaggia di Puolo, about 15 minutes on the bus which was lovely. It cost 30 Euros to hire 2 loungers and an umbrella for the day. There were also places on the beach that were free.
We mostly ate in the historic area off Corso Italia. Some of the restaurants were expensive but there were also more reasonable places to try. We had an excellent seafood meal in the Marina Grande area, sitting at a table by the seafront. The local buses and train network were very reasonable and efficient. We also walked a fair bit.

hotel we stayed in during our trip to Italy. The rooms were beautiful with the most incredible view. We got a complimentary bottle of prosecco on arrival and Antonella and Guiseppe were just so welcoming and friendly from start to finish. The hotel offers a free shuttle into Sorrento Town. The food served at both breakfast and dinner was exceptional and we couldn't recommend this hotel enough. We would stay here again.
An absolutely gorgeous home, set on beautiful grounds overlooking Sorrento Port and Mount Vesuvius. Fantastic location as well, close to everything you need. A wrap around terrace allows amazing views from both bedrooms (which are huge). Very spacious and Fabiana was such a helpful host. Thank you for letting my family and I stay in this beautiful space. We thought it was the best accommodation of our entire 2 weeks in Italy.
