The room was lovely with all facilities. Beautiful building and gardens. The staff were very helpful. It is a five minute walk to the centre of Stresa and the lakeshore.
Location about 10 min walk from train station and about 5 min to the centre and lake. Beautiful grounds. Spacious room and comfortable beds. There is a minbar and safe in the rooms. Excellent breakfast. What makes this place so special is the hotel manager who runs the hotel with loving care - a lovely lady who will attend to all your needs and questions gracefully and efficiently. We enjoyed our stay and will be happy to return.
It was very convenient to a large choice of Good eating establishments, all within 100/200 metres
We had a very large room with a huge balcony overlooking the town. The quaint sitting rooms downstairs were lovely. Good breakfast. Beautiful gardens with plenty of chairs and tables. Excellent location with an easy walk to the town.
The rooms were big enough for my brother and myself even with all our motorcycle gear. The setting was beautiful with the surrounding hills of Lake Maggiore. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good.
Only complaint would be that is very close to a railway line with commercial trains running until about 11pm. However, they didn't keep me away awake.
Location just off the tourist track but close to town. Short walk to central Stresa
Train 100 yards behind the hotel.
kind staff, good breakfast, clean room, etc
Very nice hotel in pleasant grounds close to Stresa centre with parking.
If you you don't like trains this hotel isn't for you as the Simplon line runs to the rear
We love the very beautiful house, with the garden and the atmosfære. Feelt like being back into a time when stile and attuide where something.. The host`s, Carla and Guiseppe, so very polite and helpfull. . Ekselent breakfast, even with boubles. Wish to come back, and we will. Andersen & Christensen.
Great hotel with atmosphere from past times, a couple of minute's walk from the old city
The staff were all superb, very helpful and friendly. Rooms kept spotless. Location is fine as some metres away from the main drag.
Have to share others concerns about barking dog. Necessary to keep the windows shut but even then it didn't block it out completely. Also, as the hotel is near the main road, noisy bikes etc. were noticeable although many of the other hotels probably suffered with the same issues so it is a Stresa problem rather than hotel specific. Train noise not a major issue as it wasn't too frequent and you do get used to it as it is low level rather than shrill barking!
A beautiful hotel, well furnished, big rooms, good food and friendly staff.
A bit too close to the train line.
Very handy for the town and lovely places to sit
The train noise in the night
The decor, very beautiful Italian residence. The room was spacious and had beautiful features. Also comfortable with A/C and convenient with a safe to use free of charge. Breakfast was good with lots of choice and well organised by the waitor who would constantly replenish supplies. Lovely views from the breakfast room of the mountains and lake. Nice garden to relax in when having a break from going into town. Nice wicker chairs at the front of the hotel.
It would be good if there was a bit more going on around the hotel in the day and in the evening. There are 2 reception rooms with lots of chairs but no one seemed to use them. We had a glass of wine in there one evening but were only people up and man on reception seemed quite surprised although pleased that someone wanted wine. Not really a criticism just a comment that it is quite a quiet hotel and not somewhere to go if you are looking for lots of action. Quite a few older visitors but later on a few families arrived. We found it very peaceful and relaxing and have no real complaints.
Loved everything else and would be happy to return.
The shower screen was very unstable. A support handle in the bath/shower would be appreciated.
Excellent, helpful staff. Beautiful, large, comfortable room. Breakfast excellent and very tasty. Lovely grounds. Convient to town - very romantic location.
Very friendly owners and staff made us feel very welcome even though we were only staying for one night - we will return again for a longer stay. An easy walk into town - just a hundred yards to where all the nice restaurants are and a few yeards further to the lakeside.
Nothing to dislike.
very busy road; poor breakfast; hard pillows
Liked the hotel owner family and their reception staff. Breakfast service and variety was more than adequate
Bed mattress bit hard. Could be bit softer
All wonderful owners made us feel at home Only problem for partlal disability
Shower over very narrow bath. One traveller slightly disabled.difficult and slippery for this person
Train that went night and day close the hotel
building is over 100 years old and been as a hotel for over 50 years. Time has stopped there and it's great!
if you can't walk the stairs, prepare to wait for the elevator in the morning rush hour ;)
This is a hotel that is very well run by a very nice couple and aided by very friendly and efficient staff. It was nice to be offered a choice of rooms when we checked in although neither room was particularly great. Breakfast was quite nice although there was very little fresh fruit and the fruit juices were of the cheap sugary variety.
The bed was two singles pushed together. The mattresses were soft and not comfortable. Also, if you don't like noise this might not be the hotel for you. The train line which is in frequent use is no more than 75 metres from the bedroom window. When they go past it's as if they had just gone past your bedside table! There are several dogs in the near vicinity that spent each night barking at each other. This goes on pretty much all night. Lastly, the gardeners turned on the leaf blowers at 5.30pm just when we were having a siesta before going out to dinner. These are very loud! I went to reception only to suggest that in future maybe it would be better if they were to do that in the morning when guests were heading out after breakfast rather than when they were resting before dinner after a hard days sight seeing but I was told that they only come in the afternoon. Of course it didn't sound as loud in reception so I don't think the staff have any idea how loud it sounds coming through the bedroom windows.
The warm, friendly, helpful welcome; great rooms and views; excellent choice at breakfast; would have stayed longer if we had the time.
Hotel from outside. Its gardens.
AC not working. Too much disparity in the rooms even though costing the same price. Near the railway tracks.
