Great location next to train station. Other reviews mentioned noise from train station. We did not notice a problem with such.
Novotel Salerno Est Arechi features an enviable location on the seafront, near the Arechi Stadium. It features a summer pool, a fitness center and an excellent restaurant. Parking is free.

A beautiful, peaceful city, with a very long center, various restaurants and shops, the sea is nearby, the promenade is very beautiful. There is a train station, it is close to Amalfi and Positano. Several times we did try to use buses - they are not reliable. Many stores do not have prices on the goods and each time the price is different. Locals treat you like a tourist.

Salerno is a nice city, it is a very good location to stay if you are planning to visit the Amalfi Coast by boat or bus, or to visit Pompei by train.
Lots of bar, pasticcerie, ristoranti and shops.
Unfortunately the beaches in town are very dirty, lots of rubbish, pity:(

We used Salerno as our base for day trips to Amalfi towns and Capri. It was an easy train ride down from Rome and we avoided the hassles of transferring off train to bus or ferry with luggage.
We did not get a chance to see Salerno sites. We left each day by ferry to other towns. The ferry rides were a great way to see the beautiful amalfi coastal towns.
Salerno offered plenty of dinner choices. Some parts of town are bright and busy. Some a little gritty and too much graffiti.
Day of departure we rented car and drove to Pompeii then up to Tuscany.

Salerno is a relaxed, peaceful city with excellent restaurants, a lively old town, and great access to other locations. It is much more economical and quieter than staying on the Amalfi Coast and is only a half hour ferry ride away from it.

Lovely big town with an old town, cobbled streets and lots of restaurants and bars. There is a large area of restricted traffic and parking is horrendous, even though it was April every single space along the streets and public car parks were taken. Luckily our apartment owner suggested she book us a space in a private garage and although it cost €25 per night it was well worth it. The port was within walking distance and we took a ferry to Amalfi Coast. Don’t even think about driving along the Amalfi coast as the traffic was horrendous and absolutely nowhere to park. A very busy over crowded coastline.

Lovely Lungomare with views of the mountains of the Sorrento...
Lovely Lungomare with views of the mountains of the Sorrento penisular. Railway station (from where you can travel to Pompeii, Herculaneum, Paestum, Naples and many other places - local and further afield e.g. Rome or further south). Many buses operating all over the Salerno area and Amalfi Coast. Ferry terminal for travelling to Amalfi Coast towns and Capri.
Old Town with narrow streets thronging with shops, places to eat and drink. The Duomo with its magnificent Crypt, Villa Comunale park with the turtles, Castle Arrechi - a steep climb but a great castle and fabulous views.
Not a place for a beach holiday but I'd definitely recommend Salerno for exploring the Amalfi coast, Naples, Pompeii and the surrounding area without breaking the bank!
Spacious , clean , easy access , safe , good value for money , everything you need is in there , feels like you’re in your own holiday home . Better than a hotel and the host is brilliant, helpful , accommodating. She even recommended best restaurant and places to visit locally around Salerno . Salerno is underrated part of amalfi coast . We highly recommend staying in Salerno as your base going around amalfi coast and can come back to rest in a lovely place like Gaia14 . You won’t regret it .
The apartment was spotless: dust-free, not a single streak on any of the glasses, and not a thing out or place. Truly the cleanest hotel I’ve ever stayed in.
But Francesca was the true gem of our stay. She coordinated taxis, made sure we weren’t stranded anywhere, and made herself available at a moment’s notice if we had a question. As monolingual English speakers, we would have been lost without her in Salerno.
Staying here to visit the Amalfi coast was one of the best decisions we made!
The host met us and let us into our room exactly as we anticipated. He is a very nice man who explained the hours of breakfast and check out. Breakfast was delicious and had everything you could need or want. The rooms were spacious, clean and the A/C worked great. The beds are a bit firmer than I prefer but that is the way it is all over Italy, to be expected. The most important thing is that it was clean and comfortable and the host was very friendly.
We go to Salerno at least a couple times of year when visiting with my cousins who live in a nearby town. We have often admired THE CRESCENT since it opened last year and decided we'd stay there on our next trip. When we found a site on Booking we decided to try it. I spent 4 years rating hotels and restaurants so perhaps, while my review might be very critical, it is accurate. Know the facts before deciding to book.
Thank you for making my stay an enjoyable experience! The staff were amazing and easy to reach via whatsapp. This hotel was very clean and spacious. The location is perfect, it took me a five minute walk to get to the beach front. I would definitely stay here again. I read a few reviews regarding the slow internet but my experience was very positive. The internet was fast and the connection was strong.
I loved the location and the easy parking at night. We travelled to Salerno and stayed three nights. Every day we were travelling to a different Amalfi Coast location, but every night we we’re driving back to Grand Hotel Salerno.
That was one of the greatest ideas and you should stay at Grand Hotel Salerno for that reason.
Easy check in / Friendly reception / Quite clean inside the room
Actually precise description- AMAZING.
Everyting was perfect. Location, ecquipments, space, beds, but mostly Gerardo hospitality.
Juice, sweets, coffee. Gerardo help with car parking garage and gave a lot advice what to see, where to eat and provide many interesting historical information.
Highly recommend staying here if you are looking around Salerno.
The perfect location, the property is a couple streets away from the train station and just a short walk to Molo Concordia/Port of Salerno. The room was tidy, hotel-like in its presentation - simple, clean and ample storage. There are a few dining options on the ground floor, the restaurant and bar were quite busy. All round, a winner in Salerno!
Amazing boutique aparthotel in Salerno center.
It wasnt loud which is almosz impossible in italy!! Amazing breakfast , nice hosts, comfy clean bed/room, very well designed around the theme of the room ( ours was china ) .
Easy to get in even at late times , everything is manually done which we loved, you dont need to be on time and its easy!!
The room was clean and bed was comfortable. The balcony had a lovely view. We fell in love with Salerno and this location is convenient to walk most of the city and is close to the sea. There are great boat tours out of Salerno for the Amalfi coast but harbors are a bit far to walk - request a taxi from host.
The apartment is great! The beds were very comfortable and everything was very clean. The location is more than perfect in a great part of Salerno close to everything from bars and restaurants to the shopping street, attractions and the lungomare. I highly recommend it!
Old building with updated bathroom and air conditioning. Old school Italy. Center of old Salerno wit lots of bars ,restaurants, and shopping. Hard to find on Google maps and small, one way streets make it hard to find and get a car to for loading and unloading.
Staff was so kind.
Location is not good, because it is far away from Salerno centre station(2 station). But it’s good for me, so it’s quiet around the hotel.
And i was glad that there was champagne in refrigerator.
The best apartment we stayed in on our 3-week trip. Maria is a superstar and so kind. Do yourself a favor and stay here. Salerno is life in Italy and is seriously underrated.
