Everything was excellent — rooms were spacious compared to most hotels in Japan, clean and well-kept. Layout was well thought of, the space was very functional considering my husband and I had 4 luggages (2 small, 2 large). The water pressure in the shower was perfect. Staff were warm and helpful. The hotel itself had vendo machines, ice machines and microwaves in multiple floors. Location was perfect — 2 min walk from the metro.

Fukuoka is a pleasant surprise, with lots of attractions and great dining within the city.A balanced mix of cultural and modern destinations . The city had a number of temples , museums, beautiful parks while boasting of modern attractions like the canal city fountain show , the E-Zo team lab, the Fukuoka tower viewing deck and seasonal display on its building facade, and the largest moving Gundam in Lalaport. Many shopping places too. Food choices are plentiful, from hakata ramen and traditional Japanese cuisine to international options like Italian, Mexican , American . Lastly, the many varieties of cherry blossoms and tulips in Ohori and maizuru parks made our visit even more memorable.

Nice city.
Nice city. I'm a bit surprise that it's not overcrowded like another big cities in Japan that I've been to. Might not be the best place for shopping but it's about right to me. It's more local Japan to me. I see very few English signs. There are some nice attractions but I wouldn't plan a week long trip with just Fukuoka. There are other cities and attractions in Kyushu that should also be in the plan. You don't really need a car in Fukuoka. It's well covered by public transport but for Kyushu in general it'll help considerably if you like to drive though.
If I'd plan again, I wouldn't drive the whole trip outside Fukuoka. I rather drive in some areas and travel between big cities with train. It make more sense and can cover more areas and attractions.

Loved Fukuoka, it's an underrated city. As long as you're not looking for a city like Kyoto with lots of traditional Japan, you'll find it to be a lively city with lots to do! The yatai's are a great way to experience food in Fukuoka!

It's not as busy as Tokyo or Osaka but is not lacking in places of interest and dining options. It's very easy to get around just as in other cities in Japan. The underground stations in Gion and Tenjin were a sight in itself. The interiors are not like typical train stations. There were intricately designed iron grills in the ceiling and there were lots of merchandise and food to check out.
It was fun dining at a yatai stall. The owners were very friendly and one of them patiently explained to us the menu that did not have any English translation. The food was fresh and really tasty.
One diner at the yatai stall who is a local suggested a good ramen place. It's Ganso Akanoren Setchan Ramen in Tenjin. She said Ichiran is expensive and "locals do not go there". There was a short queue when we got there around 11:30am the next day. We just waited for about 10 minutes to get a table. We were not disappointed with the food at all; taste and price wise. When we left at 12:30pm, there were about 20 people in line.
It was unfortunate that the Fukuoka Castle Ruins was closed for some work to prepare the place for the Sakura Festival later this month so we did not see it. We visited the Kusida Shrine, Team Lab Forest, Sanrio Characters Dreaming attraction, Ohori Park, Canal City. We went on a day trip to Hiroshima to learn more about history and we came out more educated.
Classical APA hotel well located in an area with many restaurants, yatai (street restaurants) and shops. Perfect base to explore the different areas of Fukuoka: walking distance from Canal City, Nakasu and Tenjin, bus and train connections to temples, the bay and the beaches, 10-min ride to the airport... Helpful and courteous staff, as always in Japan. Clean and comfortable rooms, very good breakfast buffet with Japanese and western options, self-service laundry machines... A good choice for short and less short stays.
Highly recommend this hotel !!!
Although it’s a bit away from Hakata station, but there’re quite a few bus stops can easily access to public transport and famous spots.
Cheap but super clean, Room is compact but pretty decent size in Japan.
Facilities are great, got everything in the room, of you can get from reception floor . I have to especially give compliments to their shampoo + conditioner (^-^) very good quality , to me it is very important to have good shower goods especially for female travelers
I was able to stay at a very reasonable price in my case. Convenience stores, supermarkets, and the train station are all within walking distance. It takes about 25 minutes to Fukuoka Airport by train. (Transfer to subway at Hakata).
You can use the hot spring and sauna in the annex building for free, not in the hotel. Considering the price and location, I would use this hotel again when using Fukuoka Airport instead of the Hakata and Tenjin area. The staff was also very helpful.
I stayed at this hotel 2nd time after 1st check-in. Big tidy neat and clean room and toilet. Moreover, it's very convenient staying there: Not More than 5 minutes by walk from Hakata Station, the hotel kept my luggages for my next check-in. Lastly, I request the hotel to call a taxi to the airport on Sunday early morning, one reception slightly old man tried his best to call a taxi even there's no taxi at that moment. In Summary, I'm very pleasant to stay there.
The hotel was beautiful. The room size was comfortable. Beds, although twins, were comfortable and good size for Americans. The staff was so friendly and was able to get reservations for us as I believe there was a language barrier when making reservations directly through the restaurant. The location of the hotel is directly across from the mall and Anpanman. The city is in walking distance, and airport is about 20-15 minute cab ride.
Very good location - just 3 mins walk from Hakata station and the airport line. The staff were very helpful, despite not being able to speak English that well. I was able to leave my luggage and come back later to check in at 3pm. The room was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Loved it so much. Also, the free public bath on the 13th floor was AMAZING!!! Highly recommended!!
I find all APA hotels to be great value, no matter what city. It is a very quick walk to Hakata/ shinkansen and bus stations, many local food options too. Staff friendly and efficient.
All hotel rooms are small in Japan, and these are well laid out with luggage storage under the bed, hooks on the wall etc.
Just don't take too many bags/large suitacse and you should be fine.
Excellent location. It’s only about 2min walk from Hakata station. 15min from airport. We took a cab from airport n the cost was only about 1500yen. The staff were friendly n polite. They helped us arrange for luggage transfer to the hotel we will be going two days later. N they help us keep other pieces of luggage as we will be coming back after intercity travel.
Cleanliness. Good bed. Near hakata station, walkable distance with big luggage. Couple of convenient stores around hotel. Many electric sockets esp. at bed. Near good ramen shop; ikkousha ramen. Able to store luggage before check in time (and might be after check out). Near car rental branches (3-minute walk)
It s like APA hotel pattern but much cheaper.
For some reasons, this hotel has rather lower reviews, perhaps it was something to do with the Japanese reviewing traditions, this hotel was actually quite good, at the time, the cheapest place i could find in Fukuoka and I had a good experience, so I recommend you don't always bypass a place because of the reviews in Japan. (I think~)
I like that it is spacious enough compare to typical hotels in Japan. Kitchenette and laundry facilities are good. I love the separate toilet and bathroom as well. Location is good just a few meters away from Hakata Station. There is a nearby park, a 24H supermarket, convenience stores.
One of the best business hotel in Fukuoka with clean, comfortable and above average size rooms. Check in was fast and easy. Hotel staff are friendly and welcoming. It is conveniently located, a short walk from Hakata Station. Will definitely stay there again when we are in Fukuoka.
The location is the best. It is just in front of the Hakata Station. Airport bus stops at the Hakata Station, hotel is just a few steps away. The staff are friendly and helpful. Free coffee and tea is a bonus. Breakfast is average and can be improved.
Location is very good and near places such as Canal City and Kawabata shopping area, and easy access by subway to other places like Tenjin and Hakata for shopping. Many eateries near the hotel and within walking distance.
Hotel is new and very clean.
Decent modern type hotel that is very cheap and offers a good place to rest your head. Booked the room like 30 mins before checking in. Pretty close to Hakata station and only 2 stops to the airport station. Check out process was hassle free.
Highly recommend this hotel. Right across the street from Hakata Station. Lovely lobby with great staff. Heated outdoor pool on the 13th floor was fun for the kids. Would definitely stay here again if we ever pass through Fukuoka.
The hotel is in a good location, a 10 minute walk to Hakata Station, to main train and subway station in Fukuoka. it is also close to the Old Town and Canal City. The rooms were clean and efficiently laid out.
