Holiday Inn Express Cape Town City Centre, an IHG Hotel, hotel in Cape Town

It's just a 15 minute drive from Cape Town International Airport to our lively downtown location, set on a tree-lined street packed with restaurants, art galleries, markets, cafes and bars.

The staff across all divisions of the hotel (security, kitchen, housekeeping, front desk, etc.), were kind, considerate, helpful, and always had a smile. It was also conveniently located, close to restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, and tourist sites.

FAQs about hotels in Cape Town

Cool, Colorful Cape

Between mountains and beaches, the 2nd largest city in South Africa mixes history, resilient modernity, and a typical laidback African character. From the top of Table Mountain to the colourful Bo Kaap quarter, and from the Victoria & Albert Waterfront to the modern business district, Cape Town blends multicultural influences and beautiful nature.

Known as Kaapstad in Afrikaans, its sunny weather and mild temperatures make it a perfect place to enjoy the large number of beaches that surround it. From Sunset Beach to Hout Bay, and from Simon’s Town to Gordon Bay, this city offers variety that suits all tastes. Whale and dolphin watching is a popular activity in False Bay.

Located on the Cape of Good Hope, the city was founded in 1652 by a Dutch trading company as a way-station for ships travelling to the East Indies. With the settlement process, all sorts of foreign plants were introduced, including the grapes in the famous Cape Winelands District, just outside of Cape Town.

Cape Town’s history does have some darker periods, and some of its memorable places from this time deserve to be visited: Robben Island jail, the City Hall from which Nelson Mandela gave his first public speech, and the statues of the 4 South African Nobel Peace Prize winners on the V&A Waterfront.

It is the most beautiful city in Africa, clean with gorgeous beaches, beautiful sunsets and fantastic restaurants. Table mountain is breathtakingly majestic as it rises above the city's skyline and seemingly engulfs it in its wide embrace creating a oneness between city living and nature. Cape town, for me, ranks in the top 10 places in the world everyone must visit.

The waterfront area, excellent for tourism and shopping, so many trips from bus to boat and helicopter rides. All the popular eateries and the best restaurants are here too. Easy parking and very cheap to use. Red hop on hop off bus tours to various outlaying districts and places is a must. Make time for a visit castle and watch, Changing of the Guard ceremony, quite educational and light hearted.

The Tokyo is an amazing aparthotel offering the convenience of an apartment while having access to amenities such as a restaurant, a rooftop pool, and a gym area. It's in a central part of Cape Town which offers easy access to the Waterfront, Cape Town International Conference Centre, and many restaurants, clubs, and fast food establishments. Getting an Uber took less than 2 mins and walking at night was a safe experience - ended up getting food at 2 AM without fear. I would definitely book this aparthotel again.

Location was perfect for getting around Cape Town. We walked to the waterfront, grocery store a block away, and convenient to get to attractions in nearby towns. The hosts were very accommodating to our needs and it was easy to get a hold of them (via whatsapp or Bookings messenger) when we needed info or help with anything. We needed accommodation close to the Cape Town Marathon starting point and the location was perfect - barely 5 minutes walk to the DHL stadium. The location of Villa Capri is also perfect for walking to the V&A Waterfront (1km), Oranjezight Market (500 m) and the promenade just across the road. The apartment is very spacious, neat as a pin and we really appreciated the washing machine and tumble dryer.
