FAQs about hotels in Cape Town

Cool, Colorful Cape

Between mountains and beaches, the 2nd largest city in South Africa mixes history, resilient modernity, and a typical laidback African character. From the top of Table Mountain to the colourful Bo Kaap quarter, and from the Victoria & Albert Waterfront to the modern business district, Cape Town blends multicultural influences and beautiful nature.

Known as Kaapstad in Afrikaans, its sunny weather and mild temperatures make it a perfect place to enjoy the large number of beaches that surround it. From Sunset Beach to Hout Bay, and from Simon’s Town to Gordon Bay, this city offers variety that suits all tastes. Whale and dolphin watching is a popular activity in False Bay.

Located on the Cape of Good Hope, the city was founded in 1652 by a Dutch trading company as a way-station for ships travelling to the East Indies. With the settlement process, all sorts of foreign plants were introduced, including the grapes in the famous Cape Winelands District, just outside of Cape Town.

Cape Town’s history does have some darker periods, and some of its memorable places from this time deserve to be visited: Robben Island jail, the City Hall from which Nelson Mandela gave his first public speech, and the statues of the 4 South African Nobel Peace Prize winners on the V&A Waterfront.

I was there on business, but the red bus is the best way to get around town and to get a good idea of Cape Town in a short space of time. My favourite visit is swimming the penguins on Boulders Beach, Sunsets in Bantry Bay or Camps Bay - absolutely breathtaking.

It is the most beautiful city in Africa, clean with gorgeous beaches, beautiful sunsets and fantastic restaurants. Table mountain is breathtakingly majestic as it rises above the city's skyline and seemingly engulfs it in its wide embrace creating a oneness between city living and nature. Cape town, for me, ranks in the top 10 places in the world everyone must visit.

The waterfront area, excellent for tourism and shopping, so many trips from bus to boat and helicopter rides. All the popular eateries and the best restaurants are here too. Easy parking and very cheap to use. Red hop on hop off bus tours to various outlaying districts and places is a must. -Location is good, close to the city center and Waterfront even by 10-15 min walking. -The room is being cleaned every day. -Having an open, small patio area in front of the hotel is a nice option. There is always security but when you leave the patio especially after the sky is dark, it might be dangerous and full of beggars. -Breakfast is decent, 7/24 usable coffee machines on each floor is a good idea. They also offer water at the reception and the water is purified in the room so you can always drink it.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Table Bale Hotel in Cape Town and the location is wonderful, in addition to all the comfort it offers you, the breakfast is very tasty and the service is excellent. We would come back more often. Plus it's right next to the shopping mall with escalator access directly from the hotel.
