Excellent hotel and family run business, who also make their own beer :-). We were made to feel very welcome, and the room was nice and clean and well equipped. There is a lovely heated seating area outside, as well as a COVID safe seating inside. Breakfast was excellent. There is limited menu at the moment, but really nice food, and you need to use an app, which once you are used to it, is easy to use. I would definitely recommend a stay. Pickering is a nice small town with access to the North York Moors Railway, which is a nice day out.
Pickering
A beautiful hotel served by very friendly and gracious staff. Room was spacious enough for myself and my father to sleep in separate beds without feeling boxed in, and with gorgeous views out over the moors too. Considering how last minute we ended up booking the property, the value for money and the quality of our stay were phenomenal. Truly the gateway to the north York moors and beyond.
The view from the hotel is fantastic, whether enjoyed from the wonderful grounds or the well placed restaurant. The position of the hotel is great for those wishing to explore the North York Moors by foot or bike. Our bed was huge and comfortable, offering a great sleep. The hotel is quite large and we enjoyed exploring.
The whole ambience of the hotel, its location on the North York Moors is wonderful the decor was very tasteful, the food was delicious - best breakfasts we have had over our entire holiday away for two weeks and the staff were delightful and very helpful.
Lovely hotel with very friendly staff, delicious food and great location in the heart of the North York Moors. We really enjoyed taking the steam train from Goathland station which is only a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

My father fell ill while we were there and the staff went well above expectation to help us. Thank you to a fantastic team and their supportive management.
Beautiful site nice rural views, Walking distance to local pub, driving distance to all our favourite country and coast locations
the room was clean, and in good order.
View from room was amazing. Loved the welcome pack that is provided in room, it has so much information in it about the town. A good range of options for breakfast. Zed was friendly, welcoming and just all round happy to chat to. Room was clean, tidy, well decorated, nice little coffee station in room, comfortable mattress. The town is so lovely, neat little shops everywhere and just a calm feeling about the place. Would’ve stayed longer if my plans allowed, really liked it there.
The lodge we booked was absolutely stunning. Every little detail was thought through, from the light fittings to the decoration elements. We could easily have stayed for a whole week or longer. The lodge had a little parking bay, which was perfect to park our car during the night. It also features a big porch and small garden with high hedges to offer privacy. The hot tub was placed under a roof, so bad weather didn't bother us and it was super private, as it was located at the side of a house and next to a hedge. There were two bedrooms and one family bathroom in the lodge. The whole accommodation was super modern, while really cozy at the same time. The electric fireplace was a key highlight, as well as the added bonus of the Christmas tree. The kitchen was fully fitted with a washing machine/ dryer, dishwasher and all other cooking utentils that we needed. High Oaks was in easy driving distance to shops, restaurants and parks/ places to walk the dog. We came in our car, so I cannot comment on public transport. Not a complaint per se, but a blind at the front door would be a nice add on, as all other windows had blinds and the bathroom is opposite the front door. Otherwise, we cannot recommend this place any more.
