I was upgraded to this property from the OZ luxury hotel. I was pleasantly surprised by this action and enjoyed the larger room. I'm not sure what there is to complain about for this hotel. The staff were so friendly and attentive. The check-in process was easy and when we asked for recommendations for restaurants they were happy to help. Breakfast each morning was different Columbian cuisine which I enjoy when traveling. It was fresh with a good variety of choices. If the local cuisine is not your liking they make eggs to order which is a nice added touch. I loved being in the Bocagrande area it isn't as busy as the walled city it is more of a beach town vibe. Uber to the other attractions ranged from $3-6. I can say I fell in love with this property and Cartagena and look forward to coming back soon.

Everything was good, the view from the roof top pool, the location and proximity to the popular old city and a few shops nearby and a couple of restaurants. The room had a wonderful panoramic view and was very close to the airport.

Colourful and historic, modern and colonial, local and touristic, Cartagena de Indias represents one of the liveliest Colombian beach resorts. Its character mixes cultures and peoples, including natives, Spanish, African and Arab. Its rich legacy granted its Old Town the recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
When the Spanish founded the city in 1533, the region had already been inhabited for thousands of years. It became an important port for the Spanish gold and a significant political centre. Echoes of those times can be seen throughout the historic centre, in the city walls, the San Felipe de Barajas Castle, and the colourful streets and colonial squares. Some of the best hotels in Cartagena de Indias can be found here.

This is one of my fav places in the world to visit but, unfortunately, sex tourism is becoming a big problem in Cartagena. As long as there is no control of the "demand", the supply will be there. It is about time this gets fixed. Some hotels do their part but the problem is bigger than one thinks. It is almost out of control.
There are also places I would not dare to visit unless I am accompanied by several friends. If you want to head out and have a few drinks, be very careful with cell phone and wallet.

Nice vacation, a lot to see, city is really nice, especially in the evening with animations. But very hot and beaches are not clean, you need to go to beaches far away (by boat). I liked to see free animals (monkeys,...) in the city park Centenario.

Cartegena has so much culture and history.
Cartegena has so much culture and history. The food was fantastic! There is live music in every restaurant and bar. Traditional dancing can be found in the squares and you just need to tip. Just be aware of all the street hustlers, especially the rappers who will follow you. The old town comes alive after 8pm. Be prepared for the 90-100% humidity during the mid-day. It is best to site see early in the morning or evening and siesta or pool lounge during the mid day.

The beaches are good, and provide a diversion (or a primary reason to go, if you are young) and a completely different atmosphere.

Lots to do if you work with local tourist agents.
Lots to do if you work with local tourist agents. Leave the area and go to Baru for glowing plankton or boats to Rosario archipelago. Old town. Watch out for street vendors selling trinkets and being too pushy.

The hotel was absolutely fabulous! The location was great, right in the city center but still inside like an oasis, a private and quiet place. Exactly like I expected it to be! The architecture was unique, the rooms beautiful and the breakfast great! The amenities of the hotel were exquisite, the pool also very nice. Walking distance from the clubs and bars in case you would like to party; would recommend La Jugada or Alquimico. The place to be in case you would like to stay in the old city of Cartagena but still enjoy quiet nights.
The hotel location is in the old center in the Barrio Getsemani near the Calle 10. Calle 10 is the one of interesting area's of the old center. There are restaurants, shops, bars and cafe and the lively Plaza de la Trinidad with its night life is near by. However the small hotel is quiet and relaxed. The rooms are simple but clean. The staff is was friendly, helpfull and every time good mood. The breakfast is standard for Colombia with cafe, fruit, bread and you can choose more items from a menu. The hotel can arrange air shuttle.
The location is 10/10. Located right outside the centro histórico walls, right down the street from the Serrezuela Mall. Even more important for me, it’s located right the street from Marsol, the best mode of transport between Cartagena-Barranquilla-Santa Marta. The hotel is great, my room was huge and everything worked really well. AC excellent, wifi excellent, hot water excellent, clean, nice bed. Great price as well compared to other expensive hotels in Cartagena. One of my favorite hotels. 10/10
The place is situated really near the plaza of Getsemani where it's close to everything. There's a kitchen that u can use and the place is spotless clean, Maria is such a very wonderful host and Elly ( the one who makes the breakfast, not sure if that's her name) is so wonderful. They are so friendly and they make the breakfast more lively. they change the breakfast daily and we enjoyed the traditional colombian breakfast. Rooms are really well decorated and the place is cozy and homey.
We wish we stayed here our entire time in Cartagena! It’s in a great location, plaza on the corner with lots of lively action and late night snacks. Salsa bars 2 blocks down. The host was incredible at responding to all of our questions and gave us a lot of recommendations. It’s a small, super simple hotel / room. It’s hot in Cartagena so for not really spending time in the room, but needing great coffee and a fantastic breakfast when you wake up, this is the spot. Highly recommend!
Mostly the location at walking distance from the airport. I believe is the closest hotel to Cartagena's airport. I also loved how near the hotel is to the Histórica Downtown, within walking distance from good beaches, supermarkets, ATMs and excellent neoghborhood restaurants. The hotel's staff was also courteous, helpful and responsive, especially Gina, the manager. I really loved this place...and the fact that I'm writing this kind of review explains my satisfaction
The hotel was in a very convenient location in a walking distance from both the Old City and the Getsemani area (~10 minutes walk). It’s also close to the port from where the boats are leaving to Rosario Islands. The room was clean and quite big, and the staff were very friendly. The hotel has a restaurant and a swimming pool bar, which we did not use but maybe helpful to know.
Love that it is centrally located one block from the Plaza Aduana, San Pedro Claver and the lush Plaza de Bolivar and Palacio de la Inquicision. Love the courtyard style architecture with a modern twist. Very comfy beds and spacious suite with kitchen and laundry. And quite a terrific and quiet rooftop pool with fabulous views over the roofs of the historic Cartagena.
Great hotel in a convenient location close to (walking distance) the old city of Cartagena and Getsemani neighborhood. Very spatious and comfortable rooms with good A/C (you'll need it in Cartagena). Fantastic breakfast every day. Didn't use the rooftop bar (it was too hot while we were here) but it looked really nice and had great views looking East and South.
Location is very close to main Plaza/Church and eateries. The staff was mindful of my needs. The area (Getsemani) is considered a landmark in Cartagena de Indias and everything worth visiting is a 20 minutes walk. Las Tablitas is more for a backpacker clientele in my opinion. There are lockers for your stuff if you bring your own lock.
The hotel is small but very well located, close to the walled city attractions. Plenty of restaurants and night life. Friendly staff. Hotels in Cartagena can get really expensive and Casa Ebano was quite reasonable. There was an inexpensive laundry service which I used. I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling on a budget.
I love the boutique hotel, the breakfast, the staff were so nice and friendly. They made us feel so comfortable. Super attentive, very clean. Great location. It was my birthday and they organised a cake. The best were so comfy. We really enjoyed our stay and I would definitely recommend staying here. It's so calming and relaxing.
The Hotel is perfect for its value, beds really comy, nice bathrooms the only thing is the location you are not in THE ciudad amurallada but you are like 10 mins walking, it has a good price. If you want to stay like inside the city close to bars and restaurants with the same quality you are definitely going to pay 30%-40% more
Hotel within old city walls but a few minutes walking from the busy area thus much more quite during the night, breakfast with 3 great options on the rooftop of the hotel, clean room, shower with hot water, super friendly staff,... In summary the perfect stay for your trip in Cartagena
The breakfast was really good at Hotel Kartaxa. The staff was friendly and eager to help with luggage or any questions we had. The location is amazing right in the middle of the old city, with loads of restaurants, bars, a market, and a beautiful mall all within walking distance.
We really liked our stay. The staff was so friendly! We loved the location of the hotel since that we could walk to most points of interest in the old city. The king size bed was so comfortable! We loved the rooftop terrace overlooking the city.
After seeing hotels all around the world and in Colombia this hotel just gets it. They understand what is important to their guests. Great value to money. If I ever come Cartagena again I would stay here.
My Go-to while visiting Bocagrande-Cartagena De Indias. Great staff, superb location, excellent breakfast in the morning. Safe location and super safe hotel! The POOL! Love!!!
The hotel is right next to the Castle San Felipe de Barajas, 15 minutes from the old city. Breakfast was good enough -- not something unbelievable, but pretty good.
Breakfast was well made. The location is in a busy street in the old city however once you are in the hotel you don't hear any street noise whatsoever!
