I cannot speak too highly of the owner Suzanne, we had a fabulous welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
We had the fantastic apartment which had a self contained kitchen. The bathroom had a seperate bath and shower unit and was bigger than some hotel bedrooms!
The presentation was impressive and a very high class of decor. The cleaning was to an ultra high standard and we were very very impressed.
The breakfast in the morning is continental, we had enough food left in the kitchen to feed most of Church Stretton let alone the two of us!
Due to me having problem knees it was impossible to walk into the town for an evening meal, it is very easy for an able bodied person.
This location is ideal for people who want a peaceful night and want a base for sightseeing and walking!

We spent 3 nights in Sapphire forest garden shepherd’s hut. Sapphire is beautiful inside and out; tastefully decorated and well-equipped with a wickedly comfortable bed, twinkly lights, beautiful views and a mighty efficient little log burner – so cosy. You’re provided with kindling and logs to make it up again daily. There are pans, crockery and glasses in the hut and you can prepare food in the outdoor kitchen area just across from Sapphire, using the camping stove. We savoured free range duck eggs and toast for breakfast every day – what a treat! There’s a fire pit and you can buy a barrow of logs for evenings outside around the fire. You can charge any electricals you need with a USB cable inside Sapphire. The compost loo is comfortable, clean and charming. The hosts are working on constructing a shower now, but with summer upon us it was lovely having a wash al-fresco (in fact I recommend it) – just take a sarong or hammam towel, find a pretty spot and enjoy feeling free and invigorated when you wash amongst the trees! The pool is also a beautiful place to enjoy the boat, take a swim, or chill in the Tea-Den.
Here you are surrounded by acres of trees and biodiversity. Birds in abundance, flowers and bees… The hosts are kind and welcoming; they’ve created a sanctuary for wildlife and their guests. We have already recommended the place to our friends, will definitely be going back and if you’ve read this review this far then to you, too – I highly recommend you stay in this magical place. It’s good for the soul.
Thank you Merav and Janta 🙏

Great centre for a walking holiday in the Shropshire Hills. Plenty of walks leave straight from the town.
Town has everything you need - shops (including a good outdoor equipment shop), pubs, restaurants.
Travel to and from by rail easy. Also to use the railway to visit other areas.

Church Stretton has everything you need - pubs, cafes, bakeries, restaurants and a large well-stocked Coop supermarket. The Kings Head was particularly cosy after a long walk, with free hot sausage rolls at 5pm. The Jaipur Indian restaurant has tasty good value dishes and you take your own alcohol. The surrounding area is easy to walk to from the town and the views are spectacular. Everything is in walking distance.

Lovely town and surrounding countryside is beautiful.
Lovely town and surrounding countryside is beautiful. Bucks Head Hotel is next to the church which has a clock that chimes all night. So one of our party who had a room on the church side of the Bucks Head had a disturbed nights sleep.
The town has some great pubs locally and a number of excellent cafes in the town.

Church Stretton is dying.
Church Stretton is dying. We have been going every September since 2010 but this year was the worst. It used to be a thriving place bit since lockdown and HF Holidays taking over the Long Mynd Hotel it has gone into terminal decline. The Kings Arms is a nice pub and decent food but that is about it. A great pity for locals and tourists alike.

Lovely town surrounded by beautiful countryside.
Lovely town surrounded by beautiful countryside.
Good access by road or rail.
Great Co-op. Plenty of parking. Free between 6pm and 8am and on a Sunday.
Everyone friendly and helpful.
Good meals at the Kings Arms and the Ragleth Inn in Little Stretton a short drive away. Also visited the Green Dragon where food looked good too. Can sit inside or out.
Can just wander around the town- nice independent shops or visit many different places within a short distance.

Everything was as one would hope for.
Everything was as one would hope for. Food was very good except for us portions were to generous.
All the staff were very helpful and very friendly.
The breakfasts were very good, with a good selection.
Again dinner was too generous with quantity of food.
Quality of food of both Breakfast and dinner was very good. The security of getting into your room, in that the door leading to the upstairs had a combination lock.
Also you obviously needed your room key to access your room. Generous car parking for all using the Yew Tree.
The area was great for walking with many hills and footpaths.
The only downside was there could have been moor hooks on the back of doors within the room and bath room door.

Well decorated and furnished first floor flat, all rooms had plenty of space and comfortable furniture. Bathroom and kitchen well equipped. Very clean. Very quiet location away from roads but close to all amenities in centre of town and 15 minutes walk from the station. 5 minutes from a good supermarket. Nice touch leaving milk and tea bags for arrival. Easy to operate key box. Owners communicated well with good information including a video of how to access.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property was comfortable and spacious for a family of four. The hosts are lovely people and we on hand to deal with any queries promptly. It is newly renovated and you can tell that they have thought about all the little details to make it a comfortable stay. The surroundings are very quiet and you can go straight out the door onto footpaths and bridleways to access fabulous walking. Can’t recommend this place highly enough.
Our second stay at this delightful little cottage. Situated with lovely views of and access to Carding Mill Valley, but still not a bad distance for walking into Church Stretton, it's very convenient; the Burway hill is very toning on the thighs but we benefited from the extra exercise. The cottage itself is warm, spotless and well appointed.
Located in the heart of Church Stretton, the Bucks Head Hotel manages to pack a lot of rural charm into a relatively small building. The new owners of the hotel have taken great strides to improve it since they took over management from the previous proprietor. Overall, a great place to stay if you’re looking to explore the Shropshire area.
Perfect location for exploring the surrounding hills and the town of Church Stretton. Access to the property is via a narrow driveway off the high street (mind the steps!). The location was very quiet. The property had everything we needed; a good kitchen with all necessary amenities, comfy lounge. Heating very effective.
Nice inn right in the centre of Church Stretton. Good food, both in the evening and for breakfast. The new owners are very keen to please. There were some booking problems when I tried to book online (end of March 2024), so you may want to phone the hotel to confirm that they have received the booking.
Lovely property and perfect location for exploring nearby Church Stretton, Long Mynd and Carding Mill Valley. Perfect for seeing the stars too. Very spacious and nice little touches such as freshly made flapjacks. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

The hotel is in a good location and easy to find on arrival in Chutch Stretton. The hotel is a happy and friendly place. I have stayed at this hotel twice. The staff are friendly and helpful. Food is delicious and a good choice of beer and wine.
Clean and comfortable. On-site parking. Dog friendly. Warm. Thoughtful touches such as tea and coffee, including Nespresso pods,, with some homemade flapjack cakes. Warm welcome. Would happily return if in the area. Thank you.
Superb breakfast. Cosy bar with outside beer garden and barbeque area. Nice restaurant with good food choices. Within walking distance of Cardingmill Valley, Church Stretton and the Longmynd.
