Asian Tradition, French Flair and Growing Modernity
With delicious Vietnamese aromas, small silk shops and ancient pagodas, the streets of Ho Chi Minh City dazzle tourists with their vibrant atmosphere. Its rich culture includes beautiful French colonial palaces mixed with modern skyscrapers that show the power of Vietnam’s economic capital.
Whether you decide to visit the Notre-Dame Cathedral, the City Hall, or the Municipal Theater, you’ll see the care shown by Saigonese people in preserving their historic legacy. On the other hand, the Haussmann-style boulevards are typically packed with small motorcycles that make every street crossing a whole new experience.
Contemporary Saigon can be seen in places like the Bitexco Financial Tower, located directly at central Ham Nghi Blvd. Meanwhile, Saigon Center or Zen Plaza are some of its modern shopping malls.
For a look into Vietnam’s recent history, don’t miss the Reunification Palace or the War Remnants Museum. A sunset visit to the 23rd September Park is the best way to mingle with the locals.

if you plan to visit Ho Chi Minh, 2 days 1 night to 3 days 2 nights is enough. the city is a little bit dirty and mess, and it's so hot in April, you can't even go outdoors longer in the daytime. There is no air-con in museum, so hot!

Lots to keep you busy exploring hi chi Minh city from museums, markets, local food places, a mix of high end shops and restaurants to local produce and local food haunts. Such variety! The locals all very friendly and happy to help. Lots of nice upmarket bars and great casual coffee shops. Easy to navigate around. We stayed in District 1 which was I feel central to lots of activities. Felt very safe the whole time we stayed. Only small complaint was traffic hard to navigate as a lot of cars and bikes coming at you from different directions at once so need to have your wits about you! Would definitely come back for sure.

This was the first time and we stayed in total 4 nights in HCMC.
The best location is to stay in District 1. It has walking access to so many restaurants, nightlife, shopping, close to the river and the Nguyen Hue street. Travelling with 2 kids (9 & 11) we didn't focus on historic locations since they couldn't appreciate the significance.
We booked 2 tours: 1. a 3 hour cycling tour through the city with drivers (WOW what an experience) & 2. a Mekong Delta tour. Both tours were great but the Mekong delta tour felt a little too long for what was included.
We have one picky child when it comes to food choice, but we were able to find a pho restaurant nearby to satisfy everyone.
The most favourite thing to do was walk around in the evening when everyone comes out. Stop for dinner, drinks, an ice cream. We found a roof top restaurant that was pretty cool, and the shops are open late so the kids could find their "kawaii" girly stuff.
Our hotel was within walking distance (10-15 mins) to both the Airconditioned Saigon Centre with a great food hall in the basement, or crazy Ben Than Market if you dare.
There are so many more things to do around the city, but I think we'll spread it out for the next time we get there when the kids are slightly older, or we are travelling by ourselves. It was just an experience being in a city of almost 10million people, most of them on scooters!

It was a great city but some people will ripped you off.
It was a great city but some people will ripped you off. Some Locals will sell you coconut fruit for 150.000 vnd even if you are just asking how much, they will open it right away so you have no choice to get it and get ripped off. Traumatizing. We also experienced walking along Benh Thanh and one guy just kneeled in front of us that my bf had to stop and started brushing his new shoes with water and soap! Also no choice when he said that it was 150.000 vnd for a service we did not need. All the good experiences were buried by those things being don by the locals. You are asking them nicely to stop but they will not even listen to you. I also bought a coffee for 2M vnd for 1kg because I have no choice. It’s not even the weasel coffee. Just vietnamese coffee. Smh.

A buzzling city and you get a chance to explore food, culture, people, history, and you just name it. Getting the city and different district is easy. But do use translator as some local place still difficult to communicate using English. All the best to explore!

Definitely a vibrant and energetic city with friendly faces.
Definitely a vibrant and energetic city with friendly faces. One will get used to the honking after a day or two, also crossing the street like the local Vietnamese. Just Walk on and do not run or stop in the middle of the road/street to avoid accidents.
The city offers good food expeditions and go with an open mind to try the local fare. Shopping malls are decent but not up to date like most major cities in Asia. The streets can be “perfumed” by the scent of urine. Otherwise, it’s generally clean in most part of the city.

A cute boutique hotel with very friendly and helpful staff (free upgrade. Helped us to book our bus). Great location; walking distance to most of the famous landmarks of Ho Chi Minh City. Many coffee shops and great places to eat close by. The room was nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Good a/c. Great wifi.
Better to arrange a pick up from the airport with the hotel; the hotel is tucked away in an alleyway so not easy to find the first time. We will definitely stay there again if we come back to Ho Chi Minh City.
This homestay is close to Bui vein Street and number of other must see attractions in Ho Chi Minh City. The rooms were clean and really comfy.
They were really kind and let us check in early (about 10 am ) . We arrived at home stay super early and we didn't wait. As, a consequence, this was a huge plus. In addition, the check out time was flexible. This hotel comes highly recommended by me for anyone visiting downtown.
The area the homestay is located is in a rather quite place, which seldom you'll find in ho chi minh city. It is only a couple minutes travel from landmarks like The white palace and the War museum if I'm not mistaken. For the price you'd pay, and the stay you'll get, which is peaceful and welcoming from staff, I'd say it's a steal to have lived there!! Absolutely recommend. Best stay in vietnam for the price!!
We booked Singita, as we had stayed at the Singita hotel in Hanoi also and loved the service etc so we booked for Ho chi min city also.. great choice.. we were in district 1 not far from anything really.. had a great 3 days.. we even got a wonderful upgrade which was nice. .. the staff were friendly and really helpful specially one of the managers. we will recommend this hotel to everyone we know.
Fantastic boutique hotel in a lovely, quite part of district 1. Easy walking distance to the centre of the city, and a taxi ride is only a couple of dollars. The pool was beautiful and always clean. Beds were very comfortable and the room was cleaned daily. Lots of local restaurants nearby. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you to the staff for a lovely stay.
The property is well located in District 1, and it is close to the main attraction you may want to visit around Saigon.
Moreover, the complimentary tea a a great plus - you may think that having it around 3:00-4:30 is a bit early, but I found it perfect to break down my days and enjoy some fresher temperature inside the hotel while visiting the city all day long
Such a lovely place to stay in district 1! A 15-20 minute walk from key places in the city but was an oasis of calm set back from the main road. Rooms were so well put together - really bright and airy with a comfortable bed! Super warm reception with top tips for food recommendations and help with booking a day trip from Ho Chi Minh City.
We liked the location because it is close to the main attractions like museum and market. It is in District 1, backpackers area. The location is nearby the nightlife but so far it is quiet at night. We liked the cleanliness and the stay is value for money considering it is in a big city. Also we were happy that they have life.
First time for us in Ho Chi Minh City and wow, we couldn't have picked a better spot for a lovely stay. We felt like Saigonese insiders staying in such a beautiful apartment located in a historical building just a stone throw away from all the District 1 sights! We'll be back and we'll pick the same apartment again!
Great hotel right in the centre of district 1 and close to beer street. The hotel has a working lift and a sky bar giving a view across the city. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is of good quality with plenty of choice.
Hotel is very nice in District 1 of the busiest city.
- Beautiful Rooftop
- Very good breakfast
- Afternoon Tea was great
- Very nice staff
- We were able to visit everything on foot from there.
This apartment located close to Ho Chi Minh City.
There are various restaurants and great parks around.
The host responded kindly and quickly, making it a comfortable trip.
the hotel room is spacious. staff were friendly.
location is average, although walking distance to district 1, city centre. many construction sites near us.
Very well located in District 1, a short walk from all the main areas of interest. Lovely views of the city and the Saigon river from the roof top bar.
