FAQs about hotels in Swansea

Green Gateway to the Gower

Upon seeing Swansea for the first time, it hits you just how green it is, especially when viewed from Kilvey Hill. On a clear day the views stretch as far as sweeping Swansea Bay and even the undulating Mumbles headland at the edge of the Gower Peninsula - the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with unspoilt beaches.

The Gower is also known for its castles, including Oystermouth Castle and Loughor Castle, overlooking the city from a hilltop. Swansea itself also has castle ruins which are Grade I listed, as is the Guildhall with its lavish interior frescoes.

Most historic city centre buildings were sadly lost during World War II, but the elegant Grand Theatre survived, as did Dylan Thomas’ childhood home in Uplands. The Swansea Museum – the oldest in Wales – is opposite the National Waterfront Museum and the LC indoor waterpark.

Offshore conditions are good for kitesurfing, and the marina shelters yachts overlooked by Wales’ tallest building: The Tower, Meridian Quay. The nearby SA1 Waterfront complex is becoming popular for its bars and restaurants, while shopping options include a covered market and the Morfa Shopping Park by Liberty Stadium, home to the city’s football and rubgy union teams.

Booking.com’s Swansea accommodation includes luxury hotels, cheap apartments and guest houses with parking.

Like most cities some areas were a bit run down.

Like most cities some areas were a bit run down. People were generally friendly and helpful. Uplands was ideal for take away meals and buses, though the bus station had no staff and the indicator boards were not working for coaches. Thought the maritime quarter disappointing with a rusty decaying steam tug and lightship outside the museum. The museum itself was OK in places but one room was full of machinery hidden in glass cases and the bee area had no bees! The tram museum was shut and the Swansea museum was, again, interesting in parts e.g Swansea China exhibition but it still lived up to its old reputation of a 'Museum that ought to be in a Museum'

I went to Swansea to watch Welsh giants Manic Street Preaches my all time favorite since 1991, played in new Swansea Arena, a homecoming shows. I also visited some of Swansea places Manis related as two of the members, legendary lyricist godlike genius Richey James Edwards and Bassist Nicky Wire studied at Swansea University. The Bay Campus near Singleton Park, Derrick's Music Store in Oxford Street, Indoor Market were lovely. I stayed at Mirador Town House in Uplands, Swansea one and only in the world, a unique luxurious boutique guesthouse. Swansea is a historical city with beautiful beaches, Mumbles Pier, Castle etc, there're many to see and do for everyone who visit Wales.

Excellent service provided by Phillip, prompt response to questions and accommodating our requests for an earlier check in and later check out. He also provides information on local attractions and suggested places to eat. The hotel is centrally located, a short walk to catch the bus to Swansea City Centre.
