FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

Edinburgh is a very vibrant location.

Edinburgh is a very vibrant location. We came at a time during festivals so there were plenty of people and lots of activities. The tours we booked outside of the city were great. Everything was conveniently located, and we were able to find everything we wanted/needed with ease. The city does have steep hills and stairs so if you have mobility issues, plan ahead!

A beautiful city with lots to offer. If you want vibrancy go when the festival is on. I recommend the tattoo and the Royal Yacht Britannia. The hop on / off buses were also convenient. We didn’t travel further afield but have been to the zoo previously and travelled along the coast.

Extremely disappointing stay – not worthy of a 5-star rating

Extremely disappointing stay – not worthy of a 5-star rating Review (متن): Unfortunately, our experience at this hotel was very disappointing. One of the elevators was completely out of order during our entire stay, and the only working one was extremely slow — we had to wait around 10–15 minutes each time, with many guests trying to squeeze in. The room we were given on the first night had a broken toilet. We were moved temporarily to another room, but when we returned the next day after a day out, the hotel had moved all our belongings without our permission back to the original room, saying it had been fixed. In fact, it was only partially repaired. Worse, the room we were given was clearly designed for guests with disabilities — including special equipment and an unusual layout. We were not informed of this when checking in, and it was not what we had booked. There was little sense of responsibility from the staff or management. A quick, generic apology was offered, and that was it. Finally, the breakfast was severely lacking — extremely limited options and very poor value for money. We’ve stayed at many 5-star hotels around the world, and this was among the most disappointing experiences we’ve had.

Edinburgh was a great visit. The people are friendly and fun. Lots of choices to enjoy from great pubs to historic and quirky attractions. Easy to walk around the historic city centre and the tram made visiting the Leith area easy. We enjoyed fabulous weather but many people said this was unusual!

This was a return stay for us as we stayed in 2024. This is a fantastic hotel set in a secure area within walking distance of the city centre. 30 minutes gets you to the royal mile at a leisurely pace. The room was very comfortable and the staff went out of their way to get the room which would suit us best. We were in room 104 and thanks to the American lady in front desk for her assistance in choosing an airy room. The hotel also had passes for the nearby gym which was excellent. All in all a great stay.

The Royal Scots Club is situated in New town area, next to a beautiful park. It is within a very short walking distance from city centre and all main attractions, as well as close to the tram and bus to and from the airport, and yet it is situated in a really peaceful neighborhood. The hotel is lovely, a special place with history and character, not just a chain hotel. If you wish to add a little something extra to your stay in wonderful Edinburgh, this hotel is worth trying.
