Ideally set in the Taito district of Tokyo, Resol Poshtel Tokyo Asakusa is set 300 metres from Drum Museum, 500 metres from Asakusa Public Hall and 300 metres from Kappabashi-dori Shopping Street. Featuring a shared lounge, the 1-star capsule hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a shared bathroom. The property is 200 metres from Asakusa ROX Shopping Center, and within 6.8 km of the city centre.

It's easy to see why this gets such a high score in the reviews. The location is great if you like Asakusa, Kappabashi, Akihabara. The building was apparently completely renovated. Everything is very modern and clean. Though no one probably has any interest stealing your suitcase full of dirty laundry, it still gives some peace of mind to have the lock under the bed (which easily fits a large suitcase by the way). Staff is also friendly and I think most speak English well.

Situated just a 3-minute walk away from Akihabara Train Station, Akihabara Bay Hotel is a female only accommodation offering a 24-hour front desk with free WiFi access throughout the entire property. Guests will find a convenient shared lounge installed with power and USB outlets to charge their phones.

I really like this capsule hotel. It’s so near the Akihabara Station, just a 5 min walk maybe. The area is so great, it’s beside a high rise office building. There are many convenient stores around. If you are going to Tokyo and you’re on a budget, i highly suggest to check out this hotel. It’s very convenient since Akihabara Station is a hub, just like the central Tokyo Station, so traveling through subways and trains is easy. Despite being a capsule hotel, where you need to stay outside from 10AM to 4pm (cleaning time), you can leave your luggage and the assigned capsule/unit and locker during your 1st night will still be the same throughout your stay. The staff can speak English and is available 24/7. Internet connection is good as well.

Looking for a capsule hotel?

Developed in Japan, these cheap “pod” hotels are a novelty for any traveler. With rows of small single bed enclosed capsules, accommodations are basic and intended to be overnight. There's separate storage for luggage and gender-separate communal bathrooms. Some capsule hotels also have a sentō – a Japanese bath house, usually for male guests only.

The private room was fantastic considering that most of my trip has been in capsule styled rooms. The price was also very fair and you'd be hard pressed to find a private room for cheaper. I loved having a private AC that I could control as most other places had a shared one people had to fight over. The staff were also very friendly and spoke English which is fantastic cause my Japanese is very poor. I enjoyed spending time hanging out in the lobby chatting with the other guests and making friends.

Conveniently placed, women-only capsule hotel near Akiba station. The capsules are good if a bit too warm, but there’s lots of bathrooms dotted around the building and a downstairs lounge for eating. No microwave, but there’s boiling water and vending machines. The downstairs shower room has laundry machines (both washer and dryer) and pyjamas are included as part of the linen. Everything gets changed every day (you can’t opt out) and they clean the place from 10-4 so you can’t hang out during the day.

This capsule hotel was the first place we stayed in Tokyo for two nights. The sleeping pods are well designed, with a pull down screen, comfortable bedding, convenient and thoughtful areas to put your items and clothing. The lockers were sizeable, able to fit big suitcases. The room itself had multiple toilets, never had to wait for them despite a full room. The shower and onsen facilities were wonderful and convenient to use, also open all night so you can usually be by yourself if you wanted to! Breakfast was convenient, and tasty.

The location was a little hard to find but it was in a good, convenient area. My pod was much more comfortable than I expected. It was lovely and quiet. I lived in Japan for 10 years in the 1990s and never dared to stay in a capsule hotel. Now aged 60 back on a visit, I tried this out and it was perfect and I’d definitely stay again.
