FAQs about hotels in Graz

Charming with a Medieval Twist

Surrounded by lush forestry and the Austrian Alps, the picturesque and cosmopolitan city of Graz offers pretty Renaissance courtyards, diverse architecture, a charming and historic old town, along with winding Mur River which runs through the heart of the city.

Graz’s vast history and architecture is on show beyond the fortified Old Town which is lined with cobblestoned streets, red rooftops, medieval houses, and famous landmarks such as Graz Clock Tower, Kunsthaus Graz, Graz Opera House and the 15th-century Burg.

Beyond the mountains of Grazer Schlossberg stand the Chateau Eggenberg and Herz Jesu Kirche. Graz has several popular entertainment areas, in particular the popular square Hauptplatz which features several cafés, bars, restaurants and shops.

Due it its many universities, Graz has a large student population which brings with it an energetic nightlife and a vibrant art scene. It has several interesting museums like the Alte Galerie.

Booking.com has a large choice of accommodation in and around Graz. Thalerhof Airport and Graz Hauptbahnhof offer links to many major European cities such as Vienna, Ljubljana, Zagreb and Munich.

The central area of Graz is really nice - it's very walkable, full of cafes, restaurants and shops, and attractive architecture. Hauptplatz is lovely, as are Herrengasse, Schmiedgasse, and Sporgasse. Also worth mentioning is Klosterwiesgasse, south of the historic center. If you're in shape, walk up the long zigzag staircase to get to the top of Schlossberg for great views of the city. Also walk over the bridges to look at the river. The three museums I visited were so-so: History Museum, Museum of Armor (lots of it!), Kunsthaus (the building is more interesting than the exhibits). But they're OK for a city of 300,000. Re public transport, Graz has an extensive tram network. (If you read German and enjoy books, I highly recommend the excellent Morawa Moser bookstore - it has quite a lot of English books too.)

The city had summer art festivals every day we were there. The parks were beautiful and we would go there to just relax and take a nap in the grass. The Schlossberg castle was a great exercise. Steps, (244 I think) to the top and then walk down the paths. Restaurants and cafes were everywhere. Excellent food variety and the open markets had wonderful pastries and fresh meats and vegetable. We took trams to travel in old town and beyond. Great place for a home base. Trains are inexpensive so we took a few trips out of town when it was too hot.

Graz is a typical 2-day city.

Graz is a typical 2-day city. One day for the historical city center and one another for some museums and nearby attractions. There is a wonderful view from the Schlossberg. The slide downward is a real adrenaling-pumping experience. The Grazer Märchenbahn is enjoyable also for adults. Most of the historical city center is flat (except the Schlossberg), its easy to look all the places with an easy walk. Some attractions are free or nearly free to enter compared to austrian prices. Good food and dozens of street musicians with different musical instruments.

I thought that this is a great city. I attended a didactic course (which was great itself) and I also found the city very welcoming. Restaurants were good, the historic center excellent, and very good public transportation. Definitely a place to visit.

Graz is a charming city with a fascinating mix of architecture, history, and modern lifestyle. I loved walking through the historic old town, where beautiful traditional buildings blend with contemporary designs, creating a unique atmosphere. Graz has a lively and youthful energy while still preserving its rich heritage. The visit to Schlossberg was a highlight, offering stunning views over the city and a wonderful connection to its history. A truly memorable destination for those who appreciate culture, architecture, and authentic European city experiences. Going down the slide from Schlossberg is a must-try experience. It is a city where adults and children can enjoy

We arrived on a Sunday evening, so most places were already closed. On Monday, many of the museums were closed as well, and with the very hot weather, we felt that two days in Graz were enough for us.

The room was comfortable and well equipped with all the necessary amenities. The bed was particularly comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. The breakfast was excellent, offering a great selection of fresh and tasty options. The staff was kind, welcoming, and attentive throughout my stay. The hotel is ideally located—within a 10-minute walk of the historic city centre. At the same time, it is surrounded by cafés, restaurants, and shops, making it a convenient base for both sightseeing and everyday needs.

A very pleasant and well-maintained apartment in an excellent location. The property was spotlessly clean and thoughtfully equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The host was exceptionally polite and professional, and communication in English was clear and efficient. Graz is one of my favorite Austrian cities, which I have visited before, and I would gladly stay here again.

We had an overnight stay with the family and for such short trips, the hotel is ideal. We took a family room and it was surprisingly spacious. The room was very clean, having all the basics one needs. The hotel is located in a quiet residential area some 20min walk from the old city centre, it has a nice parking space right in front- costs 13.5€ for 24h. Overall, we are very satisfied
