Great place to stay in Kingscote. Good hot water, great location, laundry in the room and a very helpful staff. They gave us a cot when I realized I booked the wrong room. They couldn't have been more helpful

    Great place to visit if you love nature,birds,Kangaroo’s,echidna,Eagles and you must visit RAPTOR DOMAIIN an amazing bird show and small zoo.There are a few good wineries,a gin distillery,and a great beer brewery as well.The remarkable Rocks annd Admirals Arch are a must see and lighthouses with amazing sea views tthat go on forever.

    Kangaroo Island is big and you need transport to see all of the sites and attractions. Kingscote is reasonably central to everything but is 45 minutes drive from the ferry terminal. We covered most of the main tourist sites, though we were there in winter and some businesses were closed. We liked the relaxed pace and the quiet roads.

    It was easy to travel around the island.

    It was easy to travel around the island. Remarkable Rocks and the Arch are well worth a visit. The Raptor Park and the sand dunes are great. We ate at the Queenscliff Hotel each evening. Good meals at reasonable prices.

    Kangaroo Island is the perfect island to see, and Kingscot is the largest town on the island, with all the facilities. Although it closes early on weekends, it doesn't spoil the experience of this fascinating island safari and almost perfect beach walking experience

    A great little town to base at with central location and many great places to eat. Good IGA- type store (Drakes) for supplies. Surprisingly good bookshop with coffee + lovely resident dog. Good esplanade walk and local history sites within walking distance. The best tidal pool area I have seen . KI has an amazing coastline, good food and wine. Kingscore is a great holiday destination for both families and those who want peace and quiet.

    I was worried that staying in Kingscote would mean I would...

    I was worried that staying in Kingscote would mean I would spend all my time driving to get to island locations; however, that is not true. It's a good place for a base camp to explore the island, if you don't want to camp. A word of warning, though. There is no cab service on the island. If you come by ferry, you can take a shuttle to Kingscote, but getting from Kingscote to the airport where my car rental was, was difficult. Luckily, helpful Australians helped us out.

    Wow, what an amazing property! Awesome does not describe how good this accommodation was! Craig and Eva were fabulous hosts. Craig's knowledge of the local koalas and fauna was amazing, and was eager to show us the family of koalas living in the trees on the property. Situated just outside the main town of Kingscote was just perfect, however car hire or you own is a must for travelling around the island. Very comfortable accommodation, fantastic wood fire, comfy sofas, great kitchen, comfy bed, great bathroom, and blissfully quiet!

    We were a family group getting together to explore Kangaroo Island. Wattlejack Cottage was perfect for our needs. It was cosy and had everything you could possibly need at your fingertips. Each night we enjoyed socializing around the wood fire and each morning we walked into Kingscote to have a coffee and explore the township before venturing further to explore the area. Jess was very responsive to our questions. Thank you Jess for sharing your cottage with us.

    The room was in the older hotel but was beautifully updated. We had the sea view room with a balcony. It was very clean and comfortable. We ate both nights at the bistro on site. The schnitzel and the fish were very good.
