We love the Cabot Trail Motel. This is a super comfortable, delightful classic 1950s style motel but with modern conveniences like wifi, flat screen TV, and an easy-to-use coffee maker. There are quilts on the bed, a deck with a view of the water, and a very reasonably breakfast menu. Everything was cooked perfectly and the orange juice, coffee, and whole wheat toast was well above average. The staff was friendly and helpful. If you are coming for the Celtic Colours Music Festival, this is definitely the place to stay. We will stay there again.

Petty touristy town on the shores of a large lake.

Petty touristy town on the shores of a large lake. Available public parking is horrible as there are too many cars for the available parking. The Bell museum is definitely a must see and worth a couple of hours visit. The boat cruise on the Ameba is a very peaceful afternoon activity. The town can be a base for day trips elsewhere if you are lucky enough to have nice lodging. Terrific breakfast and dinner at the Freight Shed Terrace. Many shops and restaurants are close by and walkable.

    Every venue was close.

Every venue was close. “Freight Shed” restaurant was excellent and served the best seafood chowder we have ever had, and we have had seafood chowder all over the east coast! “The High Wheeler deli cafe bakery” was also a favorite for excellent coffee, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches. They were friendly, fast and reasonably priced.

We really liked Baddeck and wished we had stayed overnight..

We really liked Baddeck and wished we had stayed overnight.. We went to the Alexander Graham Bell Museum which was free and loved it. It's easy to walk around Baddeck and enjoy the flowers, water and sailboats. Our car battery died while in Baddeck. There is an excellent garage S. J. MacRae & Son in Baddeck. They replaced our battery in a few hours. The Lobster Supper restaurant was recommended to us. It was crowded and we did not wait for a table.

One of the best things in town was the Alexander Graham Bell Museum. It was free too. It was full of fascinating history and information. We also enjoyed visiting the market that was open that weekend. The lighthouse is visible but not accessible. The downtown area was convenient for shopping and restaurants.

For its size, Baddeck really has a lot to offer, with great little restaurants - the High Wheeler Bakery was awesome! They have a place where you can hear authentic Scottish music. They have the Alexander Graham Bell Museum. They are next to the Cabot trail. We used the Tripvia auto tour for the trail and it was so helpful - it played automatically as you approached each area and gave the history and what to watch for at 50 spots along the trail.
