It's easy to get to nearby Bilbao, or to Potes in the mountains. There are fast and frequent coach services all over the region. Intercity public transport is limited, restaurants and supermarkets are expensive, and getting around often involves climbing steep stairs between roads. Santander was a real surprise for us.

We loved the location. It was right across the road from the most fabulous beach. The hotel was small and quaint, also very clean. Location was very close to restaurants and busses into Santander. Breakfast was a continental breakfast and it was fresh and delicious. Any of the staff we met were very friendly and helpful.
