Aberdeen was a surprisingly attractive city to visit and easy to get around on foot. I liked the fact that it was nowhere near as busy as Edinburgh yet had lots of character. Enjoyed the look of the harbour right up against Union Square, with many ocean-going tugs in close proximity. Plenty of good pubs, with a festive atmosphere. I did two Rabbies trips, one to Dunnator Castle and one to Dundee & St Andrews.I walked to Torry Battery to view the dolphins which was a good walk to see the harbour and wildlife below the cliffs. Aberdeen is a great city for getting around - there are lots of buses but it is also easy to walk to many of the attractions. We loved having the beach a short 20 minute walk away from the city centre. We also headed out to the lighthouse and were lucky anough to spot seals and dolphins. Duthie Park was a lovely relaxed spot and the winter gardens were beautiful and free! We travelled there by plane and it was easy to get into the city and back on the 727 bus. The beach is long and clean.
The beach is long and clean. There is a lot of construction work ongoing at the ice rink and swimming pool. It will be very good. Amustments and funfair open at 10. Ideal for the kids. The City is great for walking with nice parks with mostly clean streets. Of course it has its not so nice parts where the junkies hang about, every major city or town has them.
