The Campanile Hotel Basildon features Wi-fi, a 24-hour front desk and a traditional restaurant. The hotel is just 1.5 miles from Basildon center, in the heart of Essex. I loved the breakfast it's more like an American type. We ate dinner there in the evenings. Good food and a good selections of beers. Served nice and cold. We liked and enjoyed the workers. The loved talking to us Americans and wanted to know about our country and customs. Just a nice group of people.

From the Hotel to Basildon was a good little walk. The train station is located there also. We walked it often and even in the rain. Basildon is out in the country which I enjoyed . We rode the C2C train to london and then switched to the Tube from there. The tube is what we call the subway. Very easy to understand and if you can read a map, you can travel like a pro.
I like that that there were plenty of places to eat within walking distance and there was a small shopping centre within driving distance. However the hotel was noisy and I needed to do research and my daughter who was staying with me was studying for an exam and writing an essay. So this made it different to concentrate at times. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Basildon is well located being near to our friends homes. We live in Devon so the roads are much more congested and busy to what we are used to. We ate a pleasant dinner in TGI Friday's near to the hotel.
Not a pleasant place to spend any length of time. "Bas Vegas" is amazingly chavvy, and the nightlife is questionable with a lot of unpleasant people around. The town centre is worse and reminds me of the bar scene in Star Wars. However, the establishments are friendly and everything is cheap. Come here at your peril
Excellent friendly staff, very clean hotel with good bar and food selection
Breakfast...great area for Dunton.. Loved it..
