Bere Regis has been a regular trip for us as we have family living there and we love its close proximity to beautiful countryside, either by walking from the front door up Black Hill and beyond or travelling to other unspoilt beaches and beauty spots.
Lovely little village with many thatched properties situated not too far from Weymouth and Portland. The Royal Oak pub at the end of the village catered for a gluten-free diet requirement and had a wide menu selection for coeliacs.
Bere Regis is a characterful small village with two good and friendly service. A bucolic base from which to explore Dorchester and the west of Dorset. The Drakes Arms pub and restaurant forms a good place to rest weary legs after soaking up the countryside.
A good place to explore the local area ideal for the Tank Museum and Monkey world both within 10 mins drive plus a lot more a little further afield Swanage Corfe Castle Lulworth cove to name but a few.
Loved Lulworth Cove, cycling near Corte Castle and visiting the castle. Well worth it. Enjoyed the Wimborne Folk Festival and the many beautiful walks in Dorset. Had a great experience Alpaca Walking, near Shaftesbury on the way to Bere Regis. Well worth a visit, kids would love it. Wendy was a great host and works extremely hard in coordinating visits in and out with these beautiful creatures. I think Wendy has under priced the Alpaca adventure as we would have paid doubled and we were treated to a cup of tea!
Travelled to weymouth and borne mouth from our location..very central Had a lovely dinner at the local pub...theres another pub at the end of the road with a post office and local shop down the road
Bere Regis
Lovely place in Bere Regis, though fairly remote, car is needed. Good base if visiting other places. Hosts were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good, host gave us some history of the old mill which was nice. Twin room was spacious, lovely decor, nice little touches like robe, bath sheet (not small one) little things like that.
