Centrally located in the popular holiday town of Callander, the Dreadnought Hotel is in the heart of the Trossachs. It is at the gateway to the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The staff members were very kind, there even helped us carrying our luggages to our room. It’s a charming hotel very representative of the heart of Scotland. The view on the river, mountains and town is very nice. The rooms are spacious, very clean and confortable.

In the picturesque village of Callander, this traditional Scottish inn offers free WiFi, a friendly bar and homely rooms with flat-screen TVs and freeview channels. Stirling is 14 miles away. We loved this spot! There is no lift so beware of the steps to climb if that is an issue for you. Meals were delicious. We loved the pub with William (aka snowy) and Hailey was THE BEST in taking great care of us. Would visit here again for sure!

Close to Bracklin falls, Doune castle close by too, Callander town centre is gorgeous and feels so chilled., The wee shops are great and the bakery and pie shop is outstanding. Set around the River Teith, did I mention it has a good chippy too. Big lovely trees and Ben Ain for climbing in the distance, Loch Lubnaig and Loch Lomond near by and all around is stuning nature and trees (where they haven't cut them down yet ) . Supported with good transport thankfully because we dont drive so easy to get too compared to some places in Scotland. train to stirling from Edinburgh and then a bus to Callander from there. Smooth journey . Dont travel by bus to small villages in Scotland on Sundays... few buses and stranding likely
Callander is a very clean and picturesque village. It’s very handy for travelling around the Trossachs and there are great restaurants in the town. Two distilleries within east reach. Roman Camp fine dining in the hotel restaurant is unbelievable for a special occasion
Callander is a small village with some shops that are different from the norm There are a couple of nice bars/restaurants. We are in Dalgair hotel and The Old Rectory Inn, both were nice. The Old Rectory Inn has steak night on a Saturday, two lovely steaks with a plateful of trimmings and a bottle of red wine, (Hardy's) all for £30. There are some nice walks around the area, there is also a park next to the river.
Beautiful picturesque views. Lots to do if you love water sports as there is a loch close by .Even if you just like to sit and relax watching there is a place called the Cabin which makes hot food and drinks , sandwiches etc. There is plenty variety of places to eat on the main Street and shops, including a Petrol station . Friendly people.
Good base for touring the Trossachs. Good range of restaurants and pubs in the locality. Good fresh air. Amazing loch views nearby. Vennachar Lochside Restaurant excellent. Good Bar food in George Hotel on Main Street.
Good high street of mixed shops and plenty of cafes and places to eat. Found lovely walk along riverside. Only stayed one night but could of stayed a bit longer. Enjoyed good meal at the crown hotel. The auld forge guest house where we stayed was exceptional. Immaculate clean and bright room. And wonderful breakfast
We used this as a stop over for fishing at Lochearn. We fished during the day Monday. We ate at the sister hotel The Waverley which was lovely. Food was fantastic . Had breakfast which was fab. We would definitely come back to The Crags Hotel. The room was great. The shower was awesome. Very clean. The kettle and stuff provided was more than adequate. Thank you so much for a splendid stay xxx. We will be back. The bathroom was so clean. Better than some places we have been in Callander x
Staff were excellent, very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable & generally couldn’t do more to help. We felt so welcome & comfortable from the minute we walked in the door. Bed was really comfortable. Dinner on Saturday night was excellent & breakfast was amazing both days as well. Had a great night on Saturday night in bar with live band. Overall we had a great relaxing weekend & will definitely be back in the future. Would highly recommend The Waverley Hotel.
