Cheshire Mews is in central Castleton but with free parking and field views is so quiet we slept really well. It was immaculately clean and we were given plenty of tea/coffee and hot chocolate.

Absolutely loved everything! The themed decor, the hotel and restaurant staff went above and beyond to ensure I had a fabulous stay. Cake and tea was a treat and the common area was very inviting and comfortable. The staff was very knowledgeable about the area and hikes and activities. 10 out of 10 ✨

The location is superb. Staff are extremely helpful and welcoming. Vegetarian breakfast in the morning was fit for a queen. We stayed on a Friday night so had the bonus of quiz night with bingo. Such a good evening and our evening meal was amazing l.

Fantastic rustic and quaint. An authentic english experience. The hosts especially were some of the nicest people in england. I usually don't go out of my way to write reviews but it was well worth it.

What a beautiful town, excellent accommodation, great friendly pubs nearby. Surroundings are breathtaking, Peak Cavern definitely worth a visit, excellent walks. Would love to return to spend more time exploring.

Castleton is a great place to visit, very picturesque with a lot of great walks. Being retired we used the bus service a few times for free, very handy for the bus stop across the road. Lots of cafes and pubs to eat and drink.

Lovely village with plenty of local walks and several pubs, our favourite being the George where we were lucky with the weather and sat outside for a few hours drinking excellent beer until 5pm when we went inside to eat. We had booked a table for the 3 days and enjoyed the food, the staff were lovely. At lunchtime following a nice walk we called at Peveril Store and bakery for a salad box and lovely sandwiches, the ham and coleslaw being our favourite.

The rooms were quite small, but the location is just fantastic, so you will be out most of the time! The pub itself was lovely and had good vibes. We only had the breakfast, but it was delicious. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. If we ever go back to Castleton, we will definitely stay here. Book it now, sit back and relax, enjoy the spectacular views and make sure you climb Mam Tor (or at least walk from the car park half way up!).

Lovely place.

Lovely place. Go to the great visitor centre for tips for walks & visits. Go up Mam Tor. Eat great food, drink local ales and do pub quizzes in all the pubs in the village! Friendly people but very busy place at the weekend.

Great beer at The Swiss House - Other places did not have...

Great beer at The Swiss House - Other places did not have real ales that suited us. Everything is easily accessible and the AC/DC concert at the cave was excellent. There are plenty of pubs there so there will be something suitable for everyone. We ate at the Bulls Head on our first night and the Nags Head on the second. I would say that the meal at The Nags Head was a better portion size and very tasty even though we enjoyed our other meal. Peveril Bakery was excellent and there are plenty of cafes around. The bus station was very useful and fairly busy. Overall a good stay and we may return one day.

The hotel is a traditional stone built pub with all modern comforts. It's in the heart of Castleton, nestled at the foot of Mam Tor with magnificent views all round and a good car park. The food is delicious with very generous portions and the rooms are comfy and well appointed. We had 2 dogs and a baby with us and the staff were really welcoming and accommodating. It was the first sunny weekend of the year and Castleton was mobbed but the pub reserved tables for all 8 of us both nights and a space in the car park (priceless!).

Really well equipped and super comfortable cottage right in the centre of Castleton. There’s a general store opposite, with a place to grab a coffee next to that and the Peak Hotel (with car park) about 100 yards down the road. Felt very at home. Also enjoyed the pool table.
