Lovely place but a lot of greedy people charging way to much money for their facilities- the effect overall is that the honest traders are being affected by this. We did not do anything over the top but 4 nights cost up to 750 without hotel so the overall feeling was that we were being ripped off
Only having driven through the village to arrive at the Compasses one afternoon , and drive out the next morning after a wonderful night's stay, what we saw looked enchantingly olde wolrdy, and worth a stroll through next time. . Hope we can visit again very soon for an ideal tonic, to be cheered up, and stay for at least a week in these morbid Covid times.
We stayed at Damerham very close - but went into Fordingbridge most days Took family to the local park wonderful for children paddling in the river relaxed old fashioned family time Ate in the wonderful George second visit to same are of Dorset also love the compasses at Damerham near by
Fordingbridge looked to be a lovely little town with lots of character. The area around it is very pretty. Travelling south into the New Forest is worthwhile and Salisbury is not far away to the north. There is plenty to see in the area. We would like to re-visit.
Fordingbridge was fantastic some brilliant pubs and great places to visit lovely walks and mixing with the wild animals horses and donkeys etc Avoid the compasses pub you will be disappointed as what is advertised is not what’s on offer the menu is very limited Would not make an omelette when asked Asked for boiled egg but took 15 mins for them to find me an egg cup after it was cooked
Pleasant atmosphere in town. Shop staff all friendly chatty and helpful. Location to visit surrounding interests was fine. The actual bridge and river beautiful. Ate at The Ship because of good pricing and good food. Visited the Dorset heavy horse park - very impressive.
The location was great. Our room was very comfortable with a big bathroom and was at the back of the pub so very quiet once the pub had closed. The breakfast was fantastic and the staff were lovely - extremely friendly and helpful.
