Located in the popular medieval village of Hawkshead, in the Lake District, Ivy Guest House offers bed and breakfast accommodation with free Wi-Fi in public areas. We loved our stay. The owner was very helpful with helping us plan our day. And his mother was so sweet.

Charming old cottage, exceptionally clean, and in the secluded and quiet area of Hawkshead. A perfect base for day walks in the surrounding area or venturing further out. A lovely quiet and picturesque village, made more special with the owners Sharon and Steve, who were so warm, welcoming and incredibly attentive and helpful, giving us maps, guides, directions and local tips on the Lake District! Delicious breakfast (and accommodating of vegans when phoning my in advance!) and 3 gorgeous cats. Will definitely be back
Meadow View is situated in Hawkshead, 700 metres from Grizedale Forest, in an area where fishing can be enjoyed. Guests staying at this holiday home have access to a fully equipped kitchen. Location is first class, right in the center and exactly where i wanted to be. The accommodation is delightful and very well maintained. I was there with a mate for Fishing, but would definateley return with the other half for a romantic weekend or for walking.

The village is small very old, beautiful and easy to walk around ,the small climb(about 20 meters) up to the church yard rewards you with a lovely view. For the more adventurous there is a path into grizedale forest from the edge of the village or a walk over to tarn hows (a must see and walk round) The four pubs in the village provide a good choice of food, the steak and ale pie at the red lion being superb.
an old village with lots of history particularly the association with Beatrix Potter. Her solicitor, who she married had offices there, and the building still stands. There is a car park on the periphery of the village where there are some modern shops. This is expensive.
Make sure you have photo i.d for every person staying. As it is there policy no id no stay so take your passports. This should be more clear as it caused an elderly gent in our group untold stress. And the young lady in charge was so awkward and unhelpful it was painful.
Ideal place for a quiet rest and central to travel around other little villages in Windermere! If you have booked to go during this COVID pandemic it is worth pre-booking meals in restaurants as they have had to take tables out to ensure social distancing. We found many places were already booked up!
Beautiful little village with a Co-op store, several cafes and icecream shops, 5 pubs with excellent food, various venues ie museum (closed because of Covid), church, gift shops etc..Hourly bus service to Ambleside and ..amazing scenery !
Hawkshead is a lovely village, full of character, a choice of pubs and eateries, great location away from the busier lakes towns. Good choice of walks for all capabilities nearby (including grizedale forest). Need to book tables for meals in advance, to ensure availability, much reduced capacity due to covid constraints.
