On the clifftops of Cliftonville, Margate, this elegant Victorian building is less than 2 minutes’ walk from the beach. The stay was just lovely, they took very good care of us. The room was big, it had a big tv, coffee machine and a kettle, beds were really comfortable and the view out the window was just amazing! I definetely recommend choosing this hotel when in Margate.

Hadnt been to Margate in a while but visited for a concert at Dreamland. Really blew my expectations, amazing bars (The Glass Jar) , danced on the beach, really great dj's and music scene without feeling pretentious. Friendly and open atmosphere. Lots of places to eat and shop. Beautiful beach to watch the sunset on. Really feels like it could be downtown California.
Margate is a changing town . It offers everything and more that you would expect from a seaside town . A wonderful mix of traditional and contemporary British sea side. Gorgeous beach , great food, masses to do, culture, events, shopping, restaurants . All you need in easy walking distance.
Margate is a great seaside town, with lovely beach. Central cafes, bars and restaurants and the Old Town/Market Square is lovely. Many independent bars and great food options and chilled, relaxed atmostphere. A visit to the Turner Gallery is highly recommended. Short train journey from central London as well, so makes for a convenient weekend break destination.
Very quirky. Margate old town is beautiful and quaint with lovely little restaurants as well as some lovely little bars. I would definitely recommend booking ahead especially in the school holidays for dinners as most places get booked out. Olivios, Mullins brasserie and GB Pizza are all 👌. Peters fish and chips on the front is very good, queues can get quite big though around lunch and dinner times as its take away only. Flamingos Arcade has an indoor mini golf if the weather isn't great. There is always a beach at Margate even at high tide the sea doesnt reach the whole sanded area so its great beach to go to at anytime of day and you are guaranteed to be able to make some sandcastles. There is also a permanent little beach bar for a cheeky beer/wine. Dreamland has some decent little food outlets if you go during the day, check the website for evening entertainment too as they run events too which look really good.
I found Margate to be a great place for a getaway. The people in the Town are very friendly and there are great eating establishments and some terrific pubs. I would recommend Margate to anyone and everyone. Had a great time and have made some good friends to boot.
We booked a double room so we could attend the British golf open. We booked two nights but only stayed for one, which was more than enough. Our hotel was horrible. We found the area dirty and not somewhere we felt particularly comfortable. Had to leave our car in an adjoining street to the hotel, which sadly we definitely didn’t feel comfortable doing. We understood Margate would have plenty of amusements etc., which we didn’t mind though not what we would enjoy, just didn’t feel comfortable. We wouldn’t return.
The Buoy and Oyster flats are located over the restaurant which is strangely located on the other side of the building accessed via the Htugh Street. The flat are fantastic with views over the bay that probably can't be beaten (especially from the Samphire flat at the top). The flats are available to book through bookings.com (but may be available to book through the restaurant and other websites) They are very reasonably priced for their prices (at time of stay and booked 6 months in advance). I must warn you that the stairs are only fit for extremely able bodied people as they are very narrow and steep (especially if you have the penthouse Samphire flat). Rooms have everything that you need supplied and the location couldn't be better positioned to access the old town, beachfront and Dreamland. Also, they are able to provide details on a perfect spot for unloading and parking.
